lenny
jonathanasdf, I've just seen you on this board a lot and I've made friends on here before. Just trying to be friendly. Mine is '_evilincarnate_'. And this puzzle is puzzling!
nursenicole - I hope you never have to calculate a dose of injectable medication for me. - Just teasing - good luck, we'll keep trying out "our logic"
I agree with you on that evilness
Sorry, but I can't be neofriends with you... Not accepting any.
Anyways, there's better things to do in life than to fret over a virtual puzzle.
i wish we didnt have to wait, LOL.
i got this so far:
664
646
46
and i dont know the last number, but we only needed the next one. omg i think i did it all wrong. it would be the next one after the 46 last number unknown. EEEEK.
oh well, like deli said, it is only a game:D
i am more confused than i started, HAHAHA.
well, it is midnight here, i am off to bed. good luck to everyone.
And to think...I could be out drinking, partying, driving sports cars, playing for the Yankees, getting hot chicks and living in Bel-Air! Forget you, Lenny!
And you really think you can do that in the, what, 30 minutes you use on this per week?
And come on, are you THAT good at baseball?
Sorry, I'm just getting a little grumpy because I have a 400 word essay due in 20 minutes. Cya
what?
you can't live in bel-aor i am the prince of bel-air
You have to write an essay? In June? To the summermobile!
Does anyone know how to work a matrix? (I forget) Maybe the first three numbers solved in a matrix gives us the fourth number? Then the 5, 6 and 7th maybe solve for the 8th?
*goes to look for linear algebra textbook*
just to rule out another avenue... I checked all the World Challenge high scores for the last day.... and none of the scores entered, remotely resemble the scores in the conundrum
Alrighty, based on my review of matrices, that's not it. Now I'm lost again. Well off to snooze land - good luck figuring. I'll check in tomorrow.
klo, I take offense to that. I'm very good at my job. I haven't seen you suggest anything any better, so save the insults.
You know what? Another insight.
408 is DEFINITELY not the right answer, neither is 644.
The only reason that we arrived at 408 being the answer is by using the supposed "column" method, where the number horizontal is the same as the number vertical. However, the reason that is so is NOT because the numbers are specifically made like that: it is because of what was done to the numbers, which was to move 1 digit over at a time. Because the next number is acheived by moving the previous number a digit over, the starting digit would be the second one, thus resulting in the same number vertically. Hope you're still with me. Since this is so, then the "pattern" is not really a "pattern" that helps at all. It is the same at just looking at the numbers and moving everything horizontally one over and saying... hmmm if it loops it should be 408. It is just taking a group of random numbers and creating a "pattern" out of it. You can create the exact same "pattern" with any group of numbers: try it. make a group of 3 digit numbers, and order it like that. the same pattern will turn out, and you will be no closer to the answer.
I still stick with my first thought that the game and the link has something to do with it. For the ones who haven't submitted the wrong answers yet, good job, just bear with us as we try to find the right answer, because now most people have submitted the wrong answer and even if you wait until next wednesday to submit, you'll still be in top 250.
So, lets start from the beginning and drop all ideas about the column solution. It is just a method of making a pattern out of nothing.
I said this like an hour ago.

Quote:Simply by moving the numbers to the left one at a time, you "create" the pattern that you think you "found." Someone please move us on away from this. I've been thinking a magic square/magic cube where the numbers could be arranged to add up the same way in all directions? Seems out there.
Sorry, didn't understand what you meant at that time.
Hey, you're probably right. I wasn't ever trying to imply that I had THE answer, it just made sense to me at the moment. But hey, there's nothing wrong with throwing out ideas. Maybe the wrong ideas can give someone else a clue to figuring out the right one. I just don't appreciate people implying that I'm stupid.
nursenicole: don't take it too personally.
I've seen klo in this forum, and he was very helpful, active, optimistic, and kind to everyone. I'm sure that he sincerely meant it as a joke. I seem to remember him saying that he was just kidding, and encouraging you to keep developing your idea until you reach a logical, sensical conclusion.
Just one person isn't going to get anywhere without the help of other people. We need each other's help, and nobody's saying that their answer is perfect without flaw. We all know that nobody is perfect and flawless, and everyone makes mistakes. So, can we all just forget that incident and work together on finding the answer?
Of course, since most people have already submitted, it may be pointless to continue; we can just wait until next week to find the answer. However, I myself don't like leaving a puzzle unsolved, especially if it is so inviting and difficult like this one.
So yea. Any other leads?
I haven't submitted anything.
Whoa... How were you able to restrain yourself from the temptations? Especially since you were the one to first come up with the column..... That is so amazing...
Ok, so now you have a better reason to cool your head and think logically. What exactly does TNT like to do in Conundrums like these? I'm sure they did something like this before. Once it had to do with the shops, another with the lenny conundrum corresponding to the cube of the number... There were other ones with weird patterns... But however, I've noticed that NO LENNY CONUNDRUM PUZZLE WITH A GROUP OF NUMBERS IS EVER STRAIGHTFORWARD PATTERNS. it ALWAYS HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE SITE, and since this week they provided us with Stowaway Sting, IT IS NOT A PHYSICAL OR NUMERICAL PATTERN, BUT SOMETHING TO DO WITH NEOPETS! That is Definite!
sometimes it has involved somethings inside the game itself too. Has anyone checked the game itself for these numbers?
