The Brightvale Institute of Technology needed new Maths books, so they ordered a new set from Brightvale Books.

When they got the books back from the printers, however, they discovered that there had been a horrible mistake. Apparently the printer scrambled up all the digits in the printing press, so all the numbers reflected wrong digits. Yet somehow, these mistakes were consistent throughout the book. (For example, all instances of the digit "2" would instead use the digit "7"... but that's just an example! Don't assume that that is a clue for this puzzle!)

Some examples that were printed in the book were:

518 x 70 = 6270

6481 + 3294 = 32847

7221 x ( 3334 + 3666 ) = ?

Using this numbering system, what would this book list as the answer to the problem 7221 x ( 3334 + 3666 )? Please only submit the answer, and don't post any other numbers other than your submitted answer. That means, don't show your work. Otherwise, as is the case in almost every other Lenny Conundrum, your answer will be marked as incorrect.

hmm
see if the numbers are mixed up lets try to figure out what numbers really makes 6270.

If we find that out it will answer what some numbers are since they are scrambled up

set up equations: 1=a 2=b ... 0=z

EAH
xGZ
-----
FBGZ

FDHA
+CBID
---------
CBHDG

since 2 four digits add to a 5 digit, c=1

then, F+1 either 10 or 11, but 1 taken, so b=0.

then, D+0=H, so H must be 1 more than D. This also means F=9. Now, H+I=D, and H-1=D, so I= either 9 or 8, but 9 taken, so I=8

now using the multiplying thing. We know FB=90, but we're not sure about the others. So, guess and check. It turns out GZ is 24.

Putting everything in final equation, we get answer = 4467582

Which Daily Dare game was the most popular game on its Daily Dare day, based on the total number of scores sent on that particular day? For your answer, please submit only the name of the game.

Answer: Hasee Bounce

hmm weird.

Oh ya, for the new one, you need to translate it back to their notation, which ends up to 0081497

='(
sorry to the people who had read my previous post and submitted. I forgot about this step

How in the world did you get this number?

Follow this logic, the final equation when converted is

2007 x (1115 + 1999) = 6249798

convert it back to misprint is : 9058286

lenny
Well here's you another answer:
The first column is the misprint = the second column is the real #'s
1=7
2=0
3=1
4=5
5=3
6=9
7=2
8=6
9=8
0=4
so ... 7221 x (3334+3666) = ?
is .... 2007 x (1115+1999) = 6249798
converted from column two back to column one the answer is: 8706169
