I reread the question and I don't think I found anything that we did wrong. Has there ever been a question that had multiple correct answers before?

help
hi, i'm new here and am having trouble with this one, i too have multiple answers if i have read it correctly. Do you think we are supposed to mix up the values for each letter, instead of simply A=1, B=2, C=3? Then you may be able to get 3 species with a value of 203, instead of the sum of all three pets. At the moment I have to choose from:

jetsamscorchiotuskaninny
grarrltonutuskaninny
lennyquiggletuskaninny
draiktuskaninnywocky
jetsamlutarituskaninny
peophinpterituskaninny

and i haven't finished checking them all yet!! Confused

New Lenny
THIS WEEKS PUZZLE - ends next Thursday most probably
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Linae, the Kougra from Shenkuu, went shopping for Kou-jong tiles at the local toy shop the other day. The kou-jong tiles were on sale for only 28 Neopoints each.

However, she got it in her head that, for good luck, the total amount of Neopoints she must spend must be a number where all of the digits are the same.

With that in mind, what is the minimum number of tiles she must buy?

Note that, for the total number of points to be divisible by 28, the number must be a multiple of 4. This means, among other things, that the number must be even. Start dividing numbers by 28:

. . . . .44 ÷ 28 = 1.571428...

. . . . .66 ÷ 28 = 2.357142...

. . . . .88 ÷ 28 = 3.142857...

. . . . .222 ÷ 28 = 7.92857...

. . . . .444 ÷ 28 = 15.8571...

Keep going until you get no remainder (or nothing after the decimal point). I get 444,444. The answer, upon division, is the number of tiles.

Eliz.

Also, the number must be a multiple of seven. If a number which is made up of N identical even digits is divisible by seven, then the number which is made up of N ones is divisible by seven. This quickens the search. When you find the string of ones, multiply by four. Also, a bit of knowledge about the decimal expansion of 1/7 would probably lead to a correct first guess. The repetend for 1/7 contains six digits.
