Hmm...I got the same path, but I keep getting different numbers when I add...let me try again...
I got 4,268
What I did was the following
Open an Excel spreadsheet, and work each blue number at the center of a 3 x 3 square cells. Example, A1, B1, C1, A2, B2, C2, A3, B3, C3.
Put the blue number at B2
At B1 put =B2/2
At A2 put =B2/5
At C2 put =B2/7
At B3 put =B2/3
Format each of these cells with 2 or more decimals. Now copy these 9 cells and fill the rest of the blue numbers, and just follow the path of the entire numbers ( it is easier going from the end )
Sadly, I already blew my chance of solving the riddle, so I don't know if my answer is the correct.

"Now, I'm thinking of three different pets. Each has a number of points based on the letters in the name of their species, and they are all different species. If the total number of points for all three is 203, what are the three pets?"
At this point, you ask the Kougra, "What about the letter Y? Isn't it sometimes considered a vowel?"
The Kougra looks at you. "Y DOES NOT WORK THAT WAY!" he bellows. "Err, sorry for that outburst. Just assume that it isn't a vowel. Oh! And I forgot to mention that the first letter in the species name should have double points."
