Matters of spacing aside, when short of 4 gph there's a temptation, use instead two 2 gals. However, wouldn't the smaller parts be more likely to clog

My observations don't agree with the 'official calc.my 1/2-gal/hr drippers usually give 4 drips/sec wheeas they say 4 drips/sec = only 0.2 gal/hr

I told you years ago to connect with the people at Cal Poly Pomona. That is a smart place in your area; I say that as a landscape architect, who has visited with them. They teach it. So you're whining now.

Consider calling them.
