So many people died, at least 52,000 at last count.

Sunday January 2, 2005 should be remembered as a day to mourn. Light a candle.

We may not have been able to do anything to prevent or reduce the destruction. We can remember the many who died.

I will light a candle on Sunday. Will you.

Will you pass this around the world so many others will join in too?

A contribution to a relief society would probably be welcome:

Valley groups join in aid collection

December 28, 2004

Lehigh Valley community groups have begun seeking donations to provide relief for people affected by the massive earthquake and tsunamis in South Asia.

''It is a very sad thing,'' said Mohammad Bajwa, president of the Muslim Association of the Lehigh Valley, which has many members who trace their origins to Malaysia and Indonesia, two of the countries affected by the disaster.

His group hopes to send donations to the embassies of nations hit by the giant waves.

Donors can send contributions to:

Muslim Association of the Lehigh Valley, PO Box 224, Whitehall PA, 18052.

Two other groups are also looking for donations:

Indian American Association of the Lehigh Valley, PO Box 20002, Lehigh Valley, PA 18002.
