Would you please give some colloquial/informal/idiomatic expressions for "to drive a vehicle"?

There aren't any, that I know of. There are several for traveling in a vehicle, though.

Dragging the main. (Basically cruising the street looking for friends to hang out with)

Ah, yes.

The other two are more about traveling in a vehicle than driving a vehicle, I think.

The most common I can think of is "go for a ride." That, of course, applies to motorcycles and bicycles, as well. There is one expression which I only encountered in Ohio, but which is specific to driving a car, and refers to long-distance driving--to get some windshield time.
