@dlowan,
Thats similar to the US, wcept we manage these lands through the Interior Dept (I believe) along with "help" from several other agencies. We also have the Indian Nations set at about 45 distinct peoples, (even though the differences between Maliseet, Micmac, and PAssamaquoddy is kinda like the difference between Amish and Mennonite)

@farmerman,
I think the problems faced by Native Americans and First Nation Canadians are likely very similar to those of the Aboriginal folk here?

Very similar histories, I believe?

@dlowan,
Set and I disagree mightily on this but I feel that history supports a more active role by the EUropeans at exterminating the NAtive AMericans, all the way up to the start of the 20th century. The "Indian WArs" were nothing more than attempts at clearing land of the NAtive pewoples for some immediate "national goal", which was usually some special interest.

@margo,
Thank you.

I keep forgetting about this thread.

Are many people actually bothering to read it and wanting more?

I don't want to do it if it's just a bore.

@dlowan,
I'm still reading, Deb.

It's interesting to me.

But why not post only when you feel posting? Otherwise, if you're feeling like you have to, it can feel rather like work!

@dlowan,
Right. I understand what you're saying, Deb.

I am interested, but I've just been reading along.
You'd like more thread involvement, maybe?
