Good morning WA2K listeners and contributors.

First I would like to say that McTag is right. The poem was by Billy. <smile>and, Raggedy, I don't remember Oliver, but we'll check him out later.

dj, the end of your song was delightful. Thanks, Canada.

edgar's Burma Shave brings back some memories, folks.

Hey, Rex. Ah, buddy, that was a dear song.

Try, thanks for that jukebox song as it is nice to arise by. Razz

Well, coffee then a news item for all.

A morning greeting to the fair Letitia from Merrie England.

News today, I have just been to the tip (the domestic refuse disposal and recycling facility) with my father-in-law.

He wouldn't have fetched much on e-Bay anyway.

Smile

Last week the lady diane and meself were in Big Bend Texas camping in the village of Terlingua. This is a most primitive area with one of the largest national parks (although the least visited of all national parks in the lower 48) anyway the story goes that some lady was in the same area a few years back and as she wished to go on a nature walk in the park but was not allowed to bring her poodle, she tied the poodle to a tree and joined the nature walk, upon returning she found a javalina chewing down the only remaining evidence of her poodle (an ear).

You can't make a silk purse out of a poodle's ear.

McTag, you are a real tonic for a very chilly lady here in Florida. Thanks for that smile, Brit.

Hey, dys. Indeed Eva is a very inspiring woman, and her son makes me wish I were back in teaching. What a bright kid and so affable. My gawd, cowboy. What's a javalina? Shocked Poor little poodle!

Miss our turtle, so here is a news item for him:

Kolkata tortoise, Clive's pet, dies at 250 years Thu Mar 23, 9:00 AM ET

KOLKATA (Reuters) - A giant aldabra tortoise thought to be around 250 years old has died in the Kolkata zoo of liver failure, authorities said on Thursday.

The tortoise had been the pet of Robert Clive, the famous British military officer in colonial India around the middle of the 18th century, a local minister in West Bengal state said.

Local authorities say the tortoise, named "Addwaitya" meaning the "The One and Only" in Bengali, was the oldest tortoise in the world but they have not presented scientific proof to back up their claim.

"Historical records show he was a pet of British general Robert Clive of the East India Company and had spent several years in his sprawling estate before he was brought to the zoo about 130 years ago," West Bengal Forest Minister Jogesh Barman said.

"We have documents to prove that he was more than 150 years old." said one of the spokesman, but does it matter, listeners? <smile>

My word, edgar. I missed that shrewd observation. Laughing

Just wondering, folks. Do any of you know anyone who buys silk purses on eBay?

Well, edgar, let's play a wild song for them pigs:

Song Name: Don't Look Down
Title: Artist: AGENT FELIX Song: Don't Look Down

Step carefully - one foot at a time,
you'd be less afraid if you just closed your eyes,
but instead your staring down - clear your head and turn around,

Dont look down you might fall,
your standing on the ledge,
and there's nothing there to keep you holding on.

You could have everything but you're lonely inside,
Would you trade it all for someone at your side,
just one step could end the pain,
you say "there's nothing left to gain."

Dont look down you might fall,
your standing on the ledge,
and there's nothing there to keep you holding on.

Dont look down you might fall,
you're standing on the ledge,
and there's nothing there to keep you holding on

Insert proper apostrophes where applicable, folks.

I'm A Believer
The Monkeys

I thought love was only true in fairy tales
Meant for someone else but not for me.
Love was out to get me
That's the was it seemed.
Disappointment haunted all my dreams.

Then I saw her face, now I'm a believer
Not a trace of doubt in my mind.
I'm in love, I'm a believer!
I couldn't leave her if I tried.

I thought love was more or less a given thing,
Seems the more I gave the less I got.
What's the use in tryin'?
All you get is pain.
When I needed sunshine I got rain.

Then I saw her face, now I'm a believer

awake early and thinking about home this morning

I love those dear hearts and gentle people
Who live in my home town
Because those dear hearts and gentle people
Will never ever let you down

They read the good book
From Fri till Monday
That's how the weekend goes
I've got a dream house
I'll build there one day
With picket fence and ramblin' rose

I feel so welcome each time I return
That my happy heart keeps laughin' like a clown
I love the dear hearts and gentle people
Who live and love in my home town

There's a place I'd like to go
And it's back in Idaho
Where you're friendly neighbors smile and say hello
It's a pleasure and a treat
To meandor down the street
That's why I want the whole wide world to know
(I love those dear hearts)
I love the gentle people
(Who live in my home town)
Because those dear hearts and gentle people
Will never ever let you down

They read the good book
From Fri till Monday
That's how the weekend goes
I've got a dream house
I'll build there one day
With picket fence and ramblin' rose

I feel so welcome each time that I return
That my happy heart keeps laughin' like a clown
I love the dear hearts and gentle people
Who live and love in my home town

I left my hometown over 30 years ago - and it still says 'home' to me. Dunno why, cuz I really couldn't live there anymore.

ehBeth- I lived in Brooklyn for the first 17 years of my life, and on Long Island for 27 years. When people ask me where I came from, Brooklyn is the first thing that comes into my mind!

First, listeners, an answer to Try's song, and I think we might be able to use turtles as a convenience for getting across a creek.

(I'm Not Your) Steppin' Stone
(From the album "MORE OF THE MONKEES")

By Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart

I I I I I'm not your stepping stone
I I I I I'm not your stepping stone

You're trying to make your mark in society
Your using all the tricks that you used on me.
You're reading all them high fashion magazines
The clothes you're wearin' girl are causing public scenes.

I said
I I I I I'm not your stepping stone
I I I I I'm not your stepping stone
Not your stepping stone,
Not your stepping stone.

When I first met you girl you didn't have no shoes
Now you're walking 'round like you're front page news.
You've been awful careful 'bout the friends you choose
But you won't find my name in your book of Who's Who.

I said
I I I I I'm not your stepping stone
I I I I I'm not your stepping stone
Not your stepping stone,
Not your stepping stone.

Hey, Bethie. Love that one, honey. Yeah, I recall those dear hearts and gentle people (sometimes) that live and love in my Virginnie home. Thanks, TO.

Phoenix, do you really miss New York? Nice to see you here, gal.

well, I just researched Oliver, and was surprised to find that he did a very popular song from HAIR:

So, for us early morning folks

Good Morning Starshine

Good morning starshine, the earth says hello
you twinkle above us, we twinkle below
good morning starshine, you lead us along
my love and me
as we sing our
early morning singing song
gliddy glub gloopy nibby nabby noopy
la la la - lo lo
sabba sibbi sabba nooby aba naba
lee lee - lo lo
tooby ooby wala
nooby aba naba
early morning singing song
Good morning . . .
gliddy glub gloopy . . .
Singing a song, humming a song
singing a song
loving a song, laughing a song
singing a song
sing the song
song the sing
song song song sing
sing sing sing song
song song song sing
sing sing sing song

Letty, sorry to hear about Clive's turtle, but in my motherland there's a saying: cranes live to a 1000, turtles 10,000. Mr. Green

Heh! Heh! Well, Mr. Turtle, in my state of the union, cranes rust quickly, and steam shovels are passe, but...................

STEAM SHOVEL
by Charles Malam

The dinosaurs are not all dead.

I saw one raise its iron head

To watch me walking down the road

Beyond our house today.

Its jaws were dripping with a load of earth and grass that it

had cropped. It must have heard me where I stopped.

Snorted white steam my way.

And stretched its long neck out to see.

And chewed and grinned quite amiable.

Good morning lovely Letty and all the great folks on the radio. I always love coming back after a recess from a2k, especially to WA2K.

Yit and all who plan on going to Chicago, think about coming back through New Mexico. We'd love to see you. You can bunk with Walter if he doesn't mind a little extra intimacy. I've also tried my best to get Letty here, but I don't think I've been very successful

Letty, how nice that you got to meet Eva and her wonderful son. Of course, they were also lucky to meet you. What a delightful group that must have been.

Here is a song that defines the day here:

Irving Berlin
It's a lovely day today
So whatever you've got to do
You've got a lovely day to do it in, that's true

And I hope whatever you've got to do
Is something that can be done by two
For I'd really like to stay

It's a lovely day today
And whatever you've got to do
I'd be so happy to be doing it with you

But if you've got something that must be done
And it can only be done by one
There is nothing more to say
Except it's a lovely day for saying
It's a lovely day

[2]
It's a lovely day today
And whatever I've got to do
I've got a lovely day to do it in, that's true

But perhaps whatever I've got to do
Is something that can be done by two
If it is then you could stay

It's a lovely day today
But you're probably busy too
So I suppose there's nothing we can do

For if you've got something that must be done
And it can only be done by one
There is nothing more to say
Except it's a lovely day for saying
It's a lovely day

[3]
It's a lovely day today
If you've something that must get done
Now don't forget two heads are better than just one

And besides I'm certain if you knew me
You'd find I'm very good company
Won't you kindly let me stay?

[4]
It's a lovely day today
And whatever we've got to do
We've got a lovely day to do it in, that's true

And I know whatever we've got to do
Is something that can be done by two

I'll say it's a lovely day for saying
It's a lovely day.

A Great Day For Freedom -- Pink Floyd

On the day the wall came down
They threw the locks onto the ground
And with glasses high we raised a cry for freedom had arrived
On the day the wall came down
The Ship of Fools had finally ran aground
Promises lit up the night light doves in flight

I dreamed you had left my side
No warmth, not even pride remained
And even though you needed me
It was clear that I could not do a thing for you

Not life devalues day by day
As friends and neighbors turn away
And there's a change that, even with regret, cannot be undone
Now frontiers shift like desert sands
While nations wash their bloodied hands
Of loyalty, of history, in shades of grey

I woke to the sound of drums
The music played, the morning sun streamed in
I turned and I looked at you
And all but the bitter residues slipped away...slipped away
