On My Knees Lyrics Laughing

There are days
when I feel
The best of me
is ready to begin
Then there are days
when I feel
I'm letting go
and soaring on the wind
'Cause I've learned in laughter or in pain
How to survive!

I can be
in a crowd
Or by myself
and almost anywhere
When I feel
there's a need
To talk I close my eyes,
no darkness there
There's only light!

I get on my knees (x2)
there I am before the Love that changes me
See I don't know how, but there's power
In the blue skies, in the midnight
When I'm on my knees!

Reyn, honey. Not one person on this radio disbelieves you, buddy. If you say the man in the mask was an iron mask we would believe you.

Get up off them knees, Try. It ain't popular to pray on the radio. Razz

Okay. So I'll play this overdone disco song anyway:

by Gloria Gaynor
[ Download Gloria Gaynor Ringtones ] [ Send to a friend ]

First I was afraid
I was petrified
Kept thinking I could never live
without you by my side
But I spent so many nights
thinking how you did me wrong
I grew strong
I learned how to carry on
and so you're back
from outer space
I just walked in to find you here
with that sad look upon your face
I should have changed my stupid lock
I should have made you leave your key
If I had known for just one second
you'd be back to bother me

Go on now go walk out the door
just turn around now
'cause you're not welcome anymore
weren't you the one who tried to hurt me with goodbye
you think I'd crumble
you think I'd lay down and die
Oh no, not I
I will survive
as long as i know how to love
I know I will stay alive
I've got all my life to live
I've got all my love to give
and I'll survive
I will survive

It took all the strength I had
not to fall apart
kept trying hard to mend
the pieces of my broken heart
and I spent oh so many nights
just feeling sorry for myself
I used to cry
Now I hold my head up high
and you see me
somebody new
I'm not that chained up little person
still in love with you
and so you felt like dropping in
and just expect me to be free
now I'm saving all my loving
for someone who's loving me

Rolling Eyes

"If you say the man in the mask was an iron mask we would believe you."

True!

Billy Bragg ›
The Man in The Iron Mask

When he drops you off, I will not say
Who was that who so quickly drove away...
The things you've done and the places you've been
When I open the door for you
I will not let them in...

As long as you come back to me
I will never ask
For you I will be
The man in the iron mask

You said you love me and it broke my heart
I was always your prisoner right from the start
The nights you spend without me
This house is like a dungeon
And you only return to torture me more

You must have your reasons
I will no ask -
For you I will be
The man in the iron mask

the vilains in the movie Heat wore hockey masks when they hit a security truck & when they did their next gig at a bank they wore those neat woolen ski style mask.
I think the crooks should be inventive in their dress. How about those all-in-one babygros that tiny tots wear. They'd have to be made too order of cause. Makes a new slant on the tailor's perenial question,,, "which side does sir dress on ?"

My Gawd, Try. That was a quick return. You are amazing. Can you imagine, listeners, how rusty a man in an iron mask could become should he get caught in the rain?(make that Reyn)

Well, where have you been John of England. Hockey masks are the soul possession of Jason. What's wrong with you, London? <smile>

"....which side does sir dress on..."?

May I request a Virginia song in honor of Nigel (my 17yo) who has
volunteered to spend his Easter vacation helping to build/repair homes in
the coal-mining town of Grundy?

You must know something appropriate, Ms Letty.

While John has his say twice, I will address George.

Grundy, Virginia, George. Oh, I know where Grundy is, my furry friend, and Nigel is one brave lad to go there, but definitely a giving young man.

He does deserve a salute, buddy, seriously. I will be back with the proper song in a moment.

George, This isn't a Virginia song, but it covers a lot of unsung heroes. Tell your dear nephew that this encompasses more than the Old Dominion:

~ Bette Midler

From a distance the world looks blue and green,
and the snow-capped mountains white.
From a distance the ocean meets the stream,
and the eagle takes to flight.

From a distance, there is harmony,
and it echoes through the land.
It's the voice of hope, it's the voice of peace,
it's the voice of every man.

From a distance we all have enough,
and no one is in need.
And there are no guns, no bombs, and no disease,
no hungry mouths to feed.

From a distance we are instruments
marching in a common band.
Playing songs of hope, playing songs of peace.
They're the songs of every man.
God is watching us. God is watching us.
God is watching us from a distance.

From a distance you look like my friend,
even though we are at war.
From a distance I just cannot comprehend
what all this fighting is for.

From a distance there is harmony,
and it echoes through the land.
And it's the hope of hopes, it's the love of loves,
it's the heart of every man.

It's the hope of hopes, it's the love of loves.
This is the song of every man.
And God is watching us, God is watching us,
God is watching us from a distance.
Oh, God is watching us, God is watching.
God is watching us from a distance.

WELL... ALL RIGHT
(Holly - Allison - Petty)
BUDDY HOLLY

Well all right, so I'm being foolish
Well all right, let people know
About the dreams and wishes you wish
In the night when the lights are low

[Chorus]
Well all right, well all right
We'll live and love with all our might
Well all right, well all right
A lifetime of love will be all right

Well all right, so I'm going steady
It's all right when people say
That those foolish kids can't be ready
For the love that comes their way

[Chorus 2x]

edgar, I was thinking about foolish kids today. Thanks, Texas.

and an answer to OAK's song at the end of my mini rant:

Diamonds And Rust
(From the album "LIVE IN LONDON")

I'll be damned, here comes your ghost again
But that's not unusual
It's just that the moon is full
And you decided to call

And here I sit, hand on the telephone
Hearing the voice I'd known
A couple of light years ago
Headed straight for a fall

But we both know what memories can bring
They bring Diamonds and Rust
Yes we both know what memories can bring
They bring Diamonds and Rust

Now I see you standing with brown leaves all around and snow in your hair
Now we're smiling out the window of the crummy hotel over Washington Square
Our breath comes in white clouds, mingles and hangs in the air
Speaking strictly for me we both could've died then and there

But we both know what memories can bring
They bring Diamonds and Rust
Yes we both know what memories can bring
They bring Diamonds and Rust

Diamonds, Diamonds and Rust
Diamonds, Diamonds and Rust
Diamonds, Diamonds and Rust
Diamonds, Diamonds and Rust

Mexicali Rose Lyrics

Mexicali Rose stop crying
I'll come back to you some sunny day.
Every night you'll know that I'll be pining
Every hour a year while I'm away.
Dry those big brown eyes and smile dear
Banish all those tears and please don't sigh.
Kiss me once again and hold me
Mexicali Rose, goodbye.

Dry those big brown eyes and smile dear
Banish all those tears and please don't sigh.
Kiss me once again and hold me
Mexicali Rose, goodbye.

Way out west in Texas, it's where I long to be
Ridin' on the prairie with a good horse under me
For three long years I've bumed around, my heart is sad and blue
I'm goin' back to the wooly West where your friends are always true

[Yodel]

Well, way out west in Texas where the atmosphere is light
You roll up in your blanket on the prairie every night
Where the rattlesnakes and the old horned toads, they sleep right by your side
On the desert sands of Texas, it's where I long to ride.

[Yodel]
[Instrumental of Verse]

Well, way out west in Texas around that old camp fire
We sing the songs of long ago and strum on my guitar
My heart is ever yerning, but I will be there soon
I'll settle down in Texas when the cactus is in bloom

[Instrumental of Verse]

Well, a way out west in Texas, round up in the spring
You'll hear me sing this little song while ridin' on the range
Broadway lights (hue to you?) moon light suits me fine
I'll settle down in Texas, I'll leave my blues behind

Mexicali Blues

Laid back in an old saloon, with a peso in my hand,
Watchin' flies and children on the street,
And I catch a glimpse of black-eyed girls who giggle when I smile,
There's a little boy who wants to shine my feet.

And it's three days ride from Bakersfield and I don't know why I came.
I guess I came to keep from payin' dues.
So instead I've got a bottle and a girl who's just fourteen,
And a damn good case of the Mexicali Blues. Yeh!

Is there anything a man don't stand to lose,
When the devil wants to take it all away?
Cherish well your thoughts, and keep a tight grip on your booze,
Cause thinkin' and drinkin' are all I have today.

She said her name was Billy Jean and she was fresh in town.
I didn't know a stage line ran from Hell.
She had raven hair, a ruffled dress, a necklace made of gold,
All the french perfume you'd care to smell.

She took me up into her room and whispered in my ear,
"Go on, my friend, do anything you choose."
Now I'm payin' for those happy hours I spent there in her arms,
With a lifetime's worth of the Mexicali Blues.

Is there anything a man don't stand to lose,
When the devil wants to take it all away?
Cherish well your thoughts, and keep a tight grip on your booze
Cause thinkin' and drinkin' are all I have today.

And then a man rode into town, some thought he was the law.
Billy Jean was waitin' when he came.
She told me he would take her, if I didn't use my gun,
I'd have no one but myself to blame.

I went down to those dusty streets, blood was on my mind.
I guess that stranger hadn't heard the news
Cause I shot first and killed him, Lord, he didn't even draw
And he made me trade the gallows for the Mexicali Blues.

Is there anything a man don't stand to lose
When he lets a woman hold him in her hands?
He just might find himself out there on horseback in the dark
Just ridin' and runnin' across those desert sands.

Well, edgar. It's seems to be Tex-Mex tonight, and may I add to the trend a song my brother sang:

Song Lyrics

South Of The Border (Down Mexico Way)
(From the album "BAJA SESSIONS")

South Of The Border (Down Mexico Way)

South of the border, down Mexico way.
That's where I fell in love WHEN the
stars above came out to play.
And now as I wander, my thoughts ever
stray.
South of the border, down Mexico way.

She was a picture, in old Spanish lace.
Just for a tender while I kissed the
smile upon her face.
For it was fiesta, and we were so gay,

South of the border, down Mexico way.

Ay, Ay, Ay, Ay (Ay, Ay, Ay, Ay)
Ay, Ay, Ay, Ay (Ay, Ay, Ay, Ay)

Then she sighed as she whispered manana,
never dreaming that we were parting.
And I lied as I whispered manana, for our
tomorrow never came.

South of the border, I rode back one day.
There in a veil of white by THE
candlelight, she knelt to pray.
The mission bells told me that I
shouldn't stay.
South of the border, down Mexico way.

Ay, Ay, Ay, Ay (Ay, Ay, Ay, Ay)
Ay, Ay, Ay, Ay (Ay, Ay, Ay, Ay)
Ay, Ay, Ay, Ay (Ay, Ay, Ay, Ay)
Good bye good bye.

and with that good bye, I'll say goodnight. <smile>

From Letty with love
