This just in...

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. --Sometimes a chicken does have lips, just not her
own. Marian Morris saved her brother's exotic chicken, Boo Boo, by
administering "mouth-to-beak" resuscitation on the fowl after it was found
floating face down in the family's pond.

Morris, a retired nurse, said she hadn't had any practice with CPR in
years, but that she was interested to see if she "still had it."

"I breathed into its beak, and its dad-gum eyes popped open," Morris
said. "I breathed into its beak again, and its eyes popped open again. "I
said, 'I think this chicken's alive now. Keep it warm.'"

Morris said she was pleased to find that the bird she saved was
an "exotic," and not just an ordinary chicken.

The chicken is called Boo Boo, because she is easily frightened. The
family thought Boo Boo was startled and flopped into the pond.

They do? Well, listeners, let's hear a song by an chicken shall we?

B.B. KING Song Lyrics

Ain't Nobody Here But Us Chickens
(From the album "LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLL")

One night farmer Brown was takin' the air
Locked up the barnyard with the greatest of care
Down in the hen house something stirred
When he shouted, ";Who's there?";
This is what he heard
There ain't nobody here but us chickens
There ain't nobody here at all
So calm yourself and stop that fuss
There ain't nobody here but us
We chickens tryin' to sleep and you butt in
And hobble, hobble, hobble, hobble, with your chin
There ain't nobody here but us chickens
There ain't nobody here at all
You're stompin' around and shakin' the ground
Kicking up an awful dust
We chickens tryin' to sleep and you butt in
And hobble, hobble, hobble, hobble, it's a sin

Tomorrow is a busy day
We got things to do, we got eggs to lay
We got ground to dig and worms to scratch
It takes a lot of sittin', gettin' chicks to hatch
Oh, there ain't nobody here but us chickens
There ain't nobody here at all
So quiet yourself and stop that fuss
There ain't nobody here but us
Kindly point the gun the other way
And hobble, hobble, hobble, hobble off and hit the hay

Tomorrow is a busy day
We got things to do, we got eggs to lay
We got ground to dig and worms to scratch
It takes a lot of sittin', gettin' chicks to hatch
Oh, there ain't nobody here but us chickens
There ain't nobody here at all
So quiet yourself and stop that fuss
There ain't nobody here but us
Kindly point the gun the other way
And hobble, hobble, hobble, hobble off and hit the hay

Hey, hey boss man, what do you say?
It's easy, pickins, there ain't nobody here but us chickens

er, editor. That should have been "a" chicken.

I just noticed the "What song are you listening to" thread and suddenly for no reason at all, this melody popped into my head:

There's a kind of hush all over the world, tonight
All over the world, you can hear the sounds, of lovers in love
You know what I mean
Just the two of us, and nobody else, in sight
There's nobody else, and I'm feeling good, just holding you tight

So listen very carefully
Closer now and you will see what I mean
It isn't a dream
The only sound that you will hear
Is when I whisper in your ear
I love you forever and ever

There's a kind of hush, all over the world, tonight
All over the world, you can hear the sounds, of lovers in love

La-la-la-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la-la la-la-la-la-la
La-la-la-la-la

So listen very carefully
Closer now and you will see what I mean
It isn't a dream
The only sound that you will hear
Is when I whisper in your ear
I love you forever and ever

There's a kind of hush, all over the world, tonight
All over the world, people just like us, are fallin' in love
Yeah, they're fallin' in love
Hush, they're fallin' in love

In Spite of Ourselves
John Prine

She don't like her eggs all runny
She thinks crossin' her legs is funny
She looks down her nose at money
She gets it on like the Easter Bunny
She's my baby I'm her honey
I'm never gonna let her go

He ain't got laid in a month of Sundays
I caught him once and he was sniffin' my undies
He ain't too sharp but he gets things done
Drinks his beer like it's oxygen
He's my baby
And I'm his honey
Never gonna let him go

In spite of ourselves
We'll end up a'sittin' on a rainbow
Against all odds
Honey, we're the big door prize
We're gonna spite our noses
Right off of our faces
There won't be nothin' but big old hearts
Dancin' in our eyes.

She thinks all my jokes are corny
Convict movies make her horny
She likes ketchup on her scrambled eggs
Swears like a sailor when shaves her legs
She takes a lickin'
And keeps on tickin'
I'm never gonna let her go.

He's got more balls than a big brass monkey
He's a wacked out werido and a lovebug junkie
Sly as a fox and crazy as a loon
Payday comes and he's howlin' at the moon
He's my baby I don't mean maybe
Never gonna let him go

In spite of ourselves
We'll end up a'sittin' on a rainbow
Against all odds
Honey, we're the big door prize
We're gonna spite our noses
Right off of our faces
There won't be nothin' but big old hearts
Dancin' in our eyes.
There won't be nothin' but big old hearts
Dancin' in our eyes.

(spoken) In spite of ourselves

(We're Not) The Jet Set
John Prine

By a fountain back in Rome I fell in love with you
In a small cafe in Athens You said you loved me too
And it was April in Paris when I first held you close to me
Rome, Georgia, Athens, Texas And Paris, Tennessee

No, we're not the jet set
We're the old Chevro-let set
There's no Riviera
In Festus, Missouri
And you won't find Onassis
In Mullinville, Kansas
No, we're not the jet set
We're the old Chevro-let set
But ain't we got love

No, We're not the jet set
We're the old Chevro-let set
Our steak and martinis
Is draft beer with weenies
Our Bach and Tchaikovsky
Is Haggard and Husky
No, we're not the jet set
We're the old Chevro-let set
But ain't we got love

No, We're not the jet set
We're the old Chevro-let set
The Prine and DeMent set
Ain't the flaming suzette set
Our Bach and Tchaikovsky
Is Haggard and Husky
We're the old Chevro-let set
But ain't we got love

Milwaukee Here I Come
John Prine

I'm gonna get on that old turnpike and I'm gonna ride
I'm gonna leave this town 'til you decide
Which one you want the most them Opry stars or me
Milwaukee here I come from Nashville, Tennessee

Milwaukee is where we were before we came here
Working in a brewery making the finest beer
You came to me on a payday night said let's go to Tennessee
So we drove to Nashville to the Grand Ole Opry

I'm gonna get on that old turpike and I'm gonna ride
I'm gonna leave this town 'til you decide
Which one you want the most those Opry stars or me
Milwaukee here I come from Nashville, Tennessee

We were watching TV Ernest Tubb was singing loud
I said that's the man for me I love him, there's no doubt
I'm leaving you and going now to find out where he's at
If I can't get him I'll settle for that bluegrass Lester Flatt.

I'm gonna get on that old turnpike and I'm gonna ride
I'm gonna leave this town 'til you decide
Which one you want the most
Me or Jerry Lee
Milwaukee here I come from Nashville, Tennessee
Milwaukee here I come from Nashville, Tennessee

Well, there ya go, dj. Just what we needed, Canada, a change of pace

Settin' The Woods On Fire

Hank Williams

Comb your hair and paint and powder you act proud and I'll act prouder
You sing loud and I'll sing louder tonight we're settin' the woods on fire
You're my gal and I'm your feller dress up in my frock and yeller
I'll look swell but you'll look sweller settin' the woods on fire
We'll take in all the honky tonks tonight we're having fun
We'll show the folks a brand new dance that never has been done
I don't care who thinks we're silly you'll be daffy I'll be dilly
We'll order up two bowls of chili settin' the woods on fire
[ guitar - steel ]
I'll gas up my hot rod stoker we'll get hotter than a poker
You'll be broke but I'll be broker tonight we're settin' the woods on fire
We'll sit close to one another up our street and down the other
Tonight we'll have ball oh brother settin' the woods on fire
We'll put aside a little time to fix a flat or two
My trey and tubes are doin' fine but the air is showin' through
You clap hands and I'll start howlin' we'll do all the law's allowin'
Tomorrow I'll be right back plowin' settin' the woods on fire

and a bit of parody:

We can't sing and we ain't funny,
Buy this record won't ya honey,
Poor old Victor needs the money,
Settin' the woods on fire.

Guess Who?

I just stopped by for a quicky....I will see you all later.

AMBROSIA lyrics - "How Much I Feel"

I don't know how this whole business started
Of you thinkin' that I have been untrue
But if you think that we'd be better parted
It's gonna hurt me but I'd break away from you
Well, just give me the sign and I will be gone

(That's how much I feel) feel for you, baby
(How much I need) well, I need your touch
(How much I live) I live for your lovin'
That's how much
That's how much
That's how much
That's how much, ooooh

Sleep alone and late at night I'm dreaming
Of the togetherness that seems to be leavin' me
I give it all and then I give some more
If you'll only love me like you have before
Girl, take hold of my hand and all will be forgiven

(That's how much I feel) feel for you, baby
(How much I need) well, I need your touch
(How much I live) I live for your lovin'
Well, that's how much
That's how much
That's how much
That's how much

So you try, try to stay in the middle
And then you cry, you cry just a little
Then you both realize just how foolish you've been
And you try to make amends
But you're better off as friends
'Cause that's how much
(That's how much)
That's how much
That's how much, ooooh

How's your life been going on
I got a wife now years we been going strong
Oh no, there's just something that I got to say
Sometimes when we make love
I still see your face
Just try to recall when we were as one, yeah

(That's how much I feel) feel for you, baby
(How much I need) well, I need your touch
(How much I live) I live for your lovin'
Well, that's how much
That's how much
That's how much

Did I spy a bit of country music going on......?

THE HARVEST OF LOVE (Benny Hill)

I rise at six and then I feed the chicks,
And I'm feeling lonesome and blue,
And when I milk the cow it seems, somehow,
My thoughts keep straying to you.
And as the horse and I plough the field nearby,
Your memory I can't erase,
For while I walk at the rear of the horse, my dear,
I seem to see your face.

I'm gonna sow the seed of deep devotion, fertilize it with emotion,
Water it with warm desire and then I'll reap the harvest of love.

Side by side we will take a ride,
In my horse and buggy one day,
And when the daylight ends and the night descends,
And my horse'll run out of hay,
And I will kiss your lips, those tempting lips,
The only ones that can thrill me,
And I would hold you tight 'neath the stars so bright,
If the wife ever finds out she'll kill me.

I'm gonna sow the seed of deep devotion, fertilize it with emotion,
Water it with warm desire and then I'll reap the harvest of love.

GATHER IN THE MUSHROOMS

Lucy went down on a farm, tried to milk a cow,
Though she tried she couldn't get the hang of it somehow.
The farmer looked at Lucy and murmured with a frown,
"Well oh you just hang on tightly, gal, and she'll jump up and down."

Oh, gather in the mushrooms, put 'em in a pot,
Pop 'em in the oven an serve 'em piping ho-ot.

To make herself more beautiful she thought she'd bathe in milk,
She said, "I'll have a bathful," to her milkman Jackie Wilke.
He said, "Do you want it pasturized before I pour it in?"
She said, "No, I'll be happy if it comes up to my chin."

Oh, gather in the mushrooms, put 'em in a pot,
Pop 'em in the oven an serve 'em piping ho-ot.

The farmer called at Lucy one dark and stormy night,
She said, "You are too old for me, because your hair is white."
He looked into her eyes and then he knew he'd have to tell her,
"There's snow upon the roof, but there's a fire in the cellar!"

Oh, gather in the mushrooms, put 'em in a pot,
Pop 'em in the oven an serve 'em piping ho-ot.

She took him in the kitchen, she was his turtle dove,
And then she started cooking dumplings on the stove.
She wore a low cut dress, oh it was as green as clover,
He jumped with glee 'cause he could see her dumplings boiling over.

Oh, gather in the mushrooms, put 'em in a pot,
Pop 'em in the oven an serve 'em piping ho-ot.

She said, "You give me half a crown and I will read your palm,"
And then she saw his love line went nearly half way up his arm.
So now she's changed her prices, although she's just as willing,
It's big fat men at two pound ten and younger lads a shilling.

Oh, gather in the mushrooms, put 'em in a pot,
Pop 'em in the oven an serve 'em piping hot,
We're gonna gather in the mushrooms, put 'em in a pot,
Pop 'em in the oven and serve them pi-ping ho-o-ot.

OOOOO-ARRRRR!

love benny hill songs

My Garden of Love
Benny Hill

Chorus
The sun and the rain fell from up above,
And landed on the earth below, in my garden of love.

Now there's a rose for the way my spirits rose when we met,
A forget-me-not to remind me to remember not to forget,
A pine tree for the way I pined over you,
And an ash for the day I ashed you to be true. And

[chorus]

Now there's a palm tree that we planted when we had our first date,
A turnip for the way you always used to turn up late,
Your mother and your cousin, Chris, they often used to come,
So in their honour I have raised a nice Chris-and-the-mum. And

[chorus]

Now there's a beet root for the day you said that you'd beet root to me,
A sweat pea for the sweet way you always smiled at me,
But you had friends who needed you, there was Ferdi, there was Liza,
So just for them I put down a load of Ferdi-Liza. And

[chorus]

But Gus the gardener's left now, and you went with him too,
The fungus there reminds me of the fun Gus is having with you.
Now the rockery's a mockery, with weeds it's overgrown,
The fuchsia's gone, I couldn' t face the fuchsia all alone.
And my tears fell like raindrops from the sky above,
And poisoned all the flowers in my garden of love.

I'm trying to remember Benny Hill, folks, but those songs by him were a bit of tongue in cheek, I suspect.

Hey, this lady was country when....................

Barbara Mandrell Lyrics - I Was Country When Country Wasn't Cool Lyrics

I remember wearin' straight leg Levis
Flannel shirts Even when they weren't in style
I remember singin' with Roy Rogers
at the movies when the West was really wild

And I was listenin' to the Opry
When all of my friends
were diggin' Rock 'n Roll and Rhythm & Blues
I was Country, when Country wasn't cool

I remember circlin' the drive-in,
pullin' up and turnin' down George Jones
I remember when no one was lookin'
I was puttin' peanuts in my Coke

I took a lot of kiddin'
'Cause I never did fit in
now look at everybody
tryin' to be what I was then

I was Country, when Country wasn't cool
Oooh

(Chorus:)
I was Country, when Country wasn't cool
I was Country, from my hat down to my boots
I still act, and look the same
What you see ain't nothin' new

I was Country, when Country wasn't cool

(Instrumental Break)

They call us country bumpkins
For stickin' to our roots
I'm just glad we're in a country
Where we're all free to choose

I was Country, when Country wasn't cool

(George Jones)
Hey I was Country, when Country wasn't cool
Yeah I was country, from my hat down to, Whoa my boots
I still act, and look the same
What you see ain't nothin' new

Yeah, I was Country when Country wasn't cool

A goodnight poem from Letty to all of you.

The Spirit of Air

Coral and clear emerald,
And amber from the sea,
Lilac-coloured amethyst,
Chalcedony;
The lovely Spirit of Air
Floats on a cloud and doth ride,
Clad in the beauties of earth
Like a bride.

So doth she haunt me; and words
Tell but a tithe of the tale.
Sings all the sweetness of Spring
Even in the nightengale?
Nay, but with echoes she cries
Of the valley of love;
Dews on the thorns of her feet,
And darkness above.

Walter de la Mare

and always with love

Good morning, WA2K radio listeners and contributors.

Had a wee bit of trouble getting into our studio this AM.

Let's begin the day with the award winning grammy song from U2.

You are viewing lyrics of Sometimes You Can't Make It on Your Own by U2 from the album HOW TO DISMANTLE AN ATOMIC BOMB

Listen to me now
I need to let you know
You don't have to go it alone

And it's you when I look in the mirror
And it's you when I don't pick up the phone
Sometimes you can't make it on your own

We fight all the time
You and I...that's alright
We're the same soul
I don't need...I don't need to hear you say
That if we weren't so alike
You'd like me a whole lot more

Listen to me now
I need to let you know
You don't have to go it alone

And it's you when I look in the mirror
And it's you when I don't pick up the phone
Sometimes you can't make it on your own

I know that we don't talk
I'm sick of it all
Can - you - hear - me - when - I -
Sing, you're the reason I sing
You're the reason why the opera is in me...

Where are we now?
I've got to let you know
A house still doesn't make a home
Don't leave me here alone...

And it's you when I look in the mirror
And it's you that makes it hard to let go
Sometimes you can't make it on your own
Sometimes you can't make it
The best you can do is to fake it
Sometimes you can't make it on your own

He's the guy who makes me put on both my dancin' shoes

The more i get, the more i want it soon
I see doctor jazz in all my dreams
When i'm in trouble bounds are mixed
He's the guy who gets me fixed
