Well, folks. I guess we all have a dark side. It is difficult to maintain success, because there's no place to go but down.

Kurt Lewin called it the approach-approach decision.

I am with you Letty success can have it's price unfortunately...

That's nice, dys and Rex. Don't fight.

That, listeners, is a punch line of an old joke. Wish I could get by with telling it on the air. <smile>

Well we'll compromise on that... I don't dislike you Dys but your abrasive style often in my case leaves much to be desired...

And, Letty I am deeply saddened by your loss dear...

Kind of you, Rex. Here's another of my favorite Denver songs:

Lady, are you crying, do the tears belong to me
Did you think our time together was all gone
Lady, you've been dreaming, I'm as close as I can be
I swear to you our time has just begun

Close your eyes and rest your weary mind
I promise I will stay right here beside you
Today our lives were joined, became entwined
I wish you could know how much I love you

Lady, are you happy, do you feel the way I do
Are there meanings that you've never seen before
Lady, my sweet lady, I just can't believe it's true
And it's like I've never ever loved before

Close your eyes and rest your weary mind
I promise I will stay right here beside you
Today our lives were joined, became entwined
I wish you could know how much I love you

Lady, are you crying, do the tears belong to me
Did you think our time together was all gone
Lady, my sweet lady, I'm as close as I can be
I swear to you our time has just begun

Annie's Song

You fill up my senses like a night in the forest.
Like a mountain in spring-time
like a walk in the rain
like a storm in the desert
like a sleepy blue ocean
You fill up my senses, come fill me again.

Come let me love you, let me give my life to you
Let me drown in your laughter, let me die in your arm.
Let me lay down beside you, let me always be with you.
Come let me love you, come love me again.

Letty I play that song "My Sweet Lady" on my guitar and have known every word for years... (since I was about 15) I do envy JD... Smile

here is another one...

This Old Guitar

This old guitar taught me to sing a love song,
it showed me how to laugh and how to cry.
It introduced me to some friends of mine and brightened up some days.
It helped me make it through some lonely nights.
What a friend to have on a cold and lonely night

This old guitar gave me my lovely lady, it opened up her eyes and ears to me.
it brought us close together and I guess it broke her heart,
it opened up the space for us to be, what a lovely place and a lovely space to be.

This old guitar gave me my life my living all the things you know I love to do
To serenade the stars that shine from a sunny mountainside,
and most of all, to sing my songs for you, I love to sing my songs for you,
yes I do, you know, I love to sing my songs for you.

George Burns - I Wish I Was 18 Again Lyrics

at a bar down in dallas an old man chimed in,
and i thought he was out of his his head.
just being a young man i just laughed it off
when i heard what that old man had said.

he said i'll never again turn the young ladies heads,
or go running off into the wind.
i'm three quarters home from the start to the end.
and i wish i was 18 again.

i wish i was 18 again.
and going where i've never been.
but old folks and old oaks
standing tall just pretend.
i wish i was 18 again.

now time turns the pages
and oh, life goes so fast.
the years turn the black hair all grey.
i talked to some young folks,
hey they don't understand
the words this old man's got to say.

i wish i was 18 again.
and going where i've never been.
but old folks and old oaks
standing tall just pretend.
i wish i was 18 again.

lord, i wish i was 18 again!

This is dedicated to inane silliness:

I'm Popeye the sailor man,
I live in a garbage can,
I eat all the worms and spit out the germs,
I'm Popeye the sailor man.

I'm Popeye the sailor man
I live in a gabage can
I like to go swimmin'
With bow-legged women
I'm Popeye the sailor man

hee hee Diane...

When the roll, is called up yon-der

When the trumpet of the Lord shall sound, and time shall be no more,
And the morning breaks, eternal, bright and fair;
When the saved of earth shall gather over on the other shore,
And the roll is called up yonder, I'll be there.

Refrain

When the roll, is called up yon-der,
When the roll, is called up yon-der,
When the roll, is called up yon-der,
When the roll is called up yonder I'll be there.

On that bright and cloudless morning when the dead in Christ shall rise,
And the glory of His resurrection share;
When His chosen ones shall gather to their home beyond the skies,
And the roll is called up yonder, I'll be there.

Refrain

Let us labor for the Master from the dawn till setting sun,
Let us talk of all His wondrous love and care;
Then when all of life is over, and our work on earth is done,
And the roll is called up yonder, I'll be there.

Refrain

James M. Black

I love you all, I am going out for a bit.

Have a beautiful day! Smile

Ah, Mr. Browning, all's right with the world.

How about a hymn from Bob Dylan, edgar:

BOB DYLAN - Precious Memories Lyrics
As I travel down life's pathway
Know not what the years may hold
As I ponder hopes grow fonder
Precious memories flood my soul
Precious memories how they linger
How they ever flood my soul
In the stillness of the midnight
Precious memories sacred scenes unfold.

Precious father loving mother
Glide across the lonely years
And old home scenes of my childhood
In fond memories appears
Precious memories how they linger
How they ever flood my soul
In the stillness of the midnight
Precious memories sacred scenes unfold.

My mom loved that.

Dylan's version of Corrina, Corrina.

Corrina, Corrina,
Gal, where you been so long?
Corrina, Corrina,
Gal, where you been so long?
I been worr'in' 'bout you, baby,
Baby, please come home.

I got a bird that whistles,
I got a bird that sings.
I got a bird that whistles,
I got a bird that sings.
But I ain' a-got Corrina,
Life don't mean a thing.

Corrina, Corrina,
Gal, you're on my mind.
Corrina, Corrina,
Gal, you're on my mind.
I'm a-thinkin' 'bout you, baby,
I just can't keep from crying.

Starfish-On-The-Toast

Fine rock pooling coast
This starfish on the toast
The men in the crabbing boats they cry

Far across the harbor
And 'round the sandy cove
The shepard with his pipe and sheepy drove

Big cloud tumbling high
The amazing flying sky
How the gulls are pillaging the town

Fan faring daffodilly
Trumpetingly small
All along the bathing hut wall

Far across the empty beach
The tide has left this world
Old men in tweed find study there

Holding whelks and periwinkles
Tingling in his hand
Little does he know they hold him too

Fine rock pooling coast
This starfish on the coast
The men in the crabbing boat they cry....

Winter Lady

Trav'ling lady, stay awhile
until the night is over.
I'm just a station on your way,
I know I'm not your lover.
Well I lived with a child of snow
when I was a soldier,
and I fought every man for her
until the nights grew colder.

She used to wear her hair like you
except when she was sleeping,
and then she'd weave it on a loom
of smoke and gold and breathing.

And why are you so quiet now
standing there in the doorway?
You chose your journey long before
you came upon this highway.

Trav'ling lady stay awhile
until the night is over.
I'm just a station on your way,
I know I'm not your lover.

mctag : thanks for your greetings to "cold canada" .
this is a rather unusual winter for us in eastern ontario: today sunny and plus 8 C; the whole month of january has been quite mild with few below freezing daytime highs. eastern lake ontario has no ice cover - not even any ice around the edges of the lake. usually we can walk out on the lake ice by the end of january; rather unusual - some students were walking around in shorts today !
there is a massive coldfront building in the canadian arctic, moving very slowly but steadily. if the weather-forecast holds up, we'll have daytime highs between minus 10 and minus 15 C by about the 10th february. hoping for a warmfront to sweep in from the gulf of mexico - we are getting used to a mild winter !
greetings from "cold canada" - but we have warm hearts ! hbg

I don't doubt it, hbg.

There is an abnormally cold spell affecting China, Russia, Poland, Germany and nearby countries at the moment.
Here in Britain, it's about average or slightly warmer for the time of year.

I watched a TV programme about Django Reinhardt last night. I've always loved the old "Hot Club" records. There are Django clubs all over the world, apparently, where the gypsy jazz is played- including two in Tokyo.
