Good morning, listeners. It's nice to see PD here, none the worse for wear since the inauguration. Razz

Dys, when we were RVin', some retiree and his wife had a class A motor home that must have cost at least, $100,000. One side was totally caved in due to the fact that he just bulled his way through the toll booth.

Hey, Phoenix. That little bit of levity went totally over my head.

Since we're talkin' Texas, I guess we ought to have a song relating to that state, listeners.

Chorus:
All my ex's live in Texas,
And Texas is a place I'd dearly love to be.
But all my ex's live in Texas
And that's why I hang my hat in Tennessee.

Rosanna's down in Texarcana; wanted me to push her broom,
And sweet Ilene's in Abilene; she forgot I hung the moon,
And Allison in Galveston somehow lost her sanity,
And Dimples who now lives in Temple's got the law lookin' for me.

Chorus:
All my ex's live in Texas,
And Texas is a place I'd dearly love to be.
But all my ex's live in Texas
And that's why I hang my hat in Tennessee.

I remember that old Frio river where I learned to swim.
And it brings to mind another time where I wore my welcome thin.
My transcendental meditation, I go there each night,
But I always come back to myself long before daylight.

Chorus:
All my ex's live in Texas,
And Texas is a place I'd dearly love to be.
But all my ex's live in Texas
And that's why I hang my hat in Tennessee.

Some folks think I'm hidin',
It's been rumored that I died,
But I'm alive and well in Tennessee.

And the parody:

all my exes drive a lexus
a lexus is just a perfect car for me
but all my exes drive a lexus
I drive a beat up century

old eileen's in abilene, wanted be to buy a house
and sweet irene in new orleans wanted cash and wanted it soon
and alison down in Galveston, somehow lost her sanity,
and dimples, who now lives in Temple's
wants a new car from me

that's why all my exes drive a lexus
a lexus is just a perfect car for me
but all my exes drive a lexus
I drive a beat up century

the returns have come from that mutual fund
that my investment's in
and with cash to burn, and a huge return, the lawsuits sure came in
my legal counsel, says mediation, go there every night
but I always end at the lexus dealer,
to buy another one tonight

that's why all my exes drive a lexus
a lexus is just a perfect car for me
but all my exes drive a lexus
I drive a beat up century

some folks think I'm drivin
a brand new shiny ride,
but the buick's all I get that's left for me

Ah, Bobby Burns, Maugham, and Wolf.

Raggedy, how synchronized we all can be:

Through Burns' eyes:

For pleasures are like poppies spread,
You seize the flower, the bloom is dead,
Or like the snowfall in the river,
A moment white then gone forever.
Or like the rainbows lovely form,
Evanescing amid the storm.
Or like the borealis race,
That flits ere you can point the place.

Rain, by Maugham

Wolf, Death by suicide because she fell into the abyss of madness.

In thinking of the movie, Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf, I was surprised to find out that Burton did an odd movie called Equus. I read the synopsis and realized that it was a really eerie case of horror beyond belief.

Ah yes, Equus. I've never seen the movie in its entirety, but Burton was excellent in the portions I did see. You might find this article about the playwright, Peter Shaffer interesting. The Burton role was played on Broadway by Anthony Hopkins.

Raggedy, those Brits know what they're about, do they not? A great article, with lots of info I knew nothing of.

Somewhere I saw a list of those who should have won the oscar and never did. I'll try and find it, listeners, and be back later.

Well, this listener wants to hear something from out of the past by Bob Zimmerman Dylan.

Ballad of a Thin Man

You walk into the room
With your pencil in your hand
You see somebody naked
And you say, "Who is that man?"
You try so hard
But you don't understand
Just what you'll say
When you get home

Because something is happening here
But you don't know what it is
Do you, Mister Jones?

You raise up your head
And you ask, "Is this where it is?"
And somebody points to you and says
"It's his"
And you say, "What's mine?"
And somebody else says, "Where what is?"
And you say, "Oh my God
Am I here all alone?"

Because something is happening here
But you don't know what it is
Do you, Mister Jones?

You hand in your ticket
And you go watch the geek
Who immediately walks up to you
When he hears you speak
And says, "How does it feel
To be such a freak?"
And you say, "Impossible"
As he hands you a bone

Because something is happening here
But you don't know what it is
Do you, Mister Jones?

You have many contacts
Among the lumberjacks
To get you facts
When someone attacks your imagination
But nobody has any respect
Anyway they already expect you
To just give a check
To tax-deductible charity organizations

You've been with the professors
And they've all liked your looks
With great lawyers you have
Discussed lepers and crooks
You've been through all of
F. Scott Fitzgerald's books
You're very well read
It's well known

Because something is happening here
But you don't know what it is
Do you, Mister Jones?

Well, the sword swallower, he comes up to you
And then he kneels
He crosses himself
And then he clicks his high heels
And without further notice
He asks you how it feels
And he says, "Here is your throat back
Thanks for the loan"

Because something is happening here
But you don't know what it is
Do you, Mister Jones?

Now you see this one-eyed midget
Shouting the word "NOW"
And you say, "For what reason?"
And he says, "How?"
And you say, "What does this mean?"
And he screams back, "You're a cow
Give me some milk
Or else go home"

Because something is happening here
But you don't know what it is
Do you, Mister Jones?

Well, you walk into the room
Like a camel and then you frown
You put your eyes in your pocket
And your nose on the ground
There ought to be a law
Against you comin' around
You should be made
To wear earphones

Because something is happening here
But you don't know what it is
Do you, Mister Jones?

Bob Zimmerman Dylan had his finger on the right pulse, edgar. Fantastic, and I had never heard that one. For some reason, that "Jones" reminded me of another Jones:

"Have You Met Miss Jones?"

Have you met Miss Jones
Someone said as we shook hands
She was just Miss Jones to me

Then I said Miss Jones
You're a girl who understands
I'm a man who must be free.

And all at once I lost my breath
And all at once was scared to death
And all at once I own the earth and sky

Now I met Miss Jones
And well keep on meeting till we die
Miss Jones and I

And all at once I lost my breath
And all at once was scared to death
And all at once I own the earth and sky

Now I met Miss Jones
And well keep on meeting till we die
Miss Jones and I
Miss Jones and I

Signing off for tonight, listeners.

Well,

It ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe
If you don't know by now
An' it ain't no use to sit and wonder why, babe
It'll never do somehow
When your rooster crows at the break of dawn
Look out your window and I'll be gone
You're the reason I'm trav'lin' on
Don't think twice, it's all right

It ain't no use in turnin' on your light, babe
That light I never knowed
An' it ain't no use in turnin' on your light, babe
I'm on the dark side of the road
Still I wish there was somethin' you would do or say
To try and make me change my mind and stay
We never did too much talkin' anyway
So don't think twice, it's all right

So it ain't no use in callin' out my name, gal
Like you never done before
It ain't no use in callin' out my name, gal
I can't hear you any more
I'm a-thinkin' and a-wond'rin' walking down the road
I once loved a woman, a child I'm told
I give her my heart but she wanted my soul
But don't think twice, it's all right

I'm walkin' down that long, lonesome road, babe
Where I'm bound, I can't tell
But goodbye's too good a word, babe
So I'll just say fare thee well
I ain't sayin' you treated me unkind
You could have done better but I don't mind
You just kinda wasted my precious time
But don't think twice, it's all right

Beatles - Good Night
Now it's time to say good night
Good night Sleep tight
Now the sun turns out his light
Good night Sleep tight
Dream sweet dreams for me
Dream sweet dreams for you.

Close your eyes and I'll close mine
Good night Sleep tight
Now the moon begins to shine
Good night Sleep tight
Dream sweet dreams for me
Dream sweet dreams for you.

Close your eyes and I'll close mine
Good night Sleep tight
Now the sun turns out his light
Good night Sleep tight
Dream sweet dreams for me
Dream sweet dreams for you.

Good night Good night Everybody
Everybody everywhere
Good night.

So long for awhile
That's all the songs for awhile
So long to your Hit Parade
And the tunes that you wish to be played
So....long

and sweet dreams.

Good morning, edgar and dys. Letty, is a bit under the weather today, but both of you gave me a smile.

Listeners, don't you just love the way edgar speaks Latin, and how clever dys is with the aphorisms?

Here's a news item about Leonardo. No, not DeCaprio; da vinchy guy.

Speaking of Leonardo da Vee, has any of your listeners read "The da Vinci Code" bestseller?

I believe there is a separate thread for it, but I have nearly finished it now.
Am enjoying it a lot.

Thanks, panz. That must have worked cause I'm feeling a mite better. <smile>

McTag. I haven't read the book of which you speak, but I understand it has to do with Mary Magdelen being married to Jesus, and that the code lies in his fresco of the Last Supper. Somewhere I saw that the frescos were not DeVinci's, but as yet haven't located the item.

Raggedy and eoe, Paul is quite an icon, is he not? Raggedy's celeb posts always give me a sense of deja vu, and as far as I can ascertain, listeners, the following is one of the few deja vu songs:

It seems we stood and talked like this before

We looked at each other in the same way then

But I can't remember where or when

The clothes you're wearing are the clothes you wore

The smile you are smiling you were smiling then

But I can't remember where or when

Some things that happened for the first time

Seem to be happening again

And so it seems that we have met before

And laughed before, and loved before

But who knows where or when?

<instrumental>

Some things that happened for the first time

Seem to be happening again

(I can't remember, my darling, I can't remember when)

And so it seems that we have met before

And laughed before, and loved before

But who knows where or when?

Rogers and Hart.
