Oh, yes, Raggedy. I remember Michner's Goodbye with Marlon Brando, right? Well, it wasn't Brando's best role.

I can't believe that I would not know Chita. Quite a career she had.

Yes indeed. I remember "Hey Big Spender". I can hear the tune in my head but can't quite call up the words.

Very Happy I loved Brando in Sayonara, and the movie, too, but Red Buttons walked away with the Oscar.

the minute you walked in the joint
i could see you were a man of distinction
a real big spender!
good looking,so refined
say, wouldn't you like to know
what's gonig on in my mind?
now let me get right to the point!
i don't pop my cork for every man i see
hey big spender!!
spend a little time with me!
say, wouldn't you like to have fun, fun, fun
how's about a few laughs, laughs?
i could show you a good time
let me show you a, good time!!
the minute you walked in the joint
i could see you were a man of distinction
a real big spender!
good looking, so refined
say, wouldn't you like to know
what's going on in my mind?
now let me get right to the point
i don't pop my cork for every man i see!
Hey Big Spender!!
Hey Big Spender!!
Hey Big Spender!!
spend a little time with me!

Ah, Raggedy. There were some Brando films that I didn't like, and I'm not certain why, either. Perhaps I expected him to be at the top of his form all the time. That's impossible, I suppose. Just as we can't expect to be at the top of our form on every thread or even here on WA2K radio.

I remember the lyrics to Big Spender now, thanks to you, my friend. Strangely, Raggedy and listeners, I find the oddest links to songs. The Simpsons sent this to me:

Listen, children, to a story
That was written long ago,
'Bout a kingdom on a mountain
And the valley-folk below.

On the mountain was a treasure
Buried deep beneath the stone,
And the valley-people swore
They'd have it for their very own.

Go ahead and hate your neighbor,
Go ahead and cheat a friend.
Do it in the name of Heaven,
You can justify it in the end.
There won't be any trumpets blowing
Come the judgement day,
On the bloody morning after....
One tin soldier rides away.

So the people of the valley
Sent a message up the hill,
Asking for the buried treasure,
Tons of gold for which they'd kill.

Came an answer from the kingdom,
"With our brothers we will share
All the secrets of our mountain,
All the riches buried there."

Go ahead and hate your neighbor,
Go ahead and cheat a friend.
Do it in the name of Heaven,
You can justify it in the end.
There won't be any trumpets blowing
Come the judgement day,
On the bloody morning after....
One tin soldier rides away.

Now the valley cried with anger,
"Mount your horses! Draw your sword!"
And they killed the mountain-people,
So they won their just reward.

Now they stood beside the treasure,
On the mountain, dark and red.
Turned the stone and looked beneath it...
"Peace on Earth" was all it said.

Go ahead and hate your neighbor,
Go ahead and cheat a friend.
Do it in the name of Heaven,
You can justify it in the end.
There won't be any trumpets blowing
Come the judgement day,
On the bloody morning after....
One tin soldier rides away.

Go ahead and hate your neighbor,
Go ahead and cheat a friend.
Do it in the name of Heaven,
You can justify it in the end.
There won't be any trumpets blowing
Come the judgement day,
On the bloody morning after....
One tin soldier rides away.

Wow! I made myself sad.

Good morning, WA2K listeners.

I have to chuckle about Msolga's remark. No end to my talents? Well, my Aussie friend, I'm still searching for where it all began. Razz

Interesting news item:

Cracking the
Da Vinci Code
A new exhibition is cracking the code of Leonardo Da Vinci's mind to show what enabled him to design diving suits, a bicycle and a car centuries before their time.

Back later, listeners, with more news and music. Stay tuned, and remember, honesty is the best policy. Brought to you by WA2K's Honesty Insurance Co.

Thank you, Raggedy. You are a good and faithful researcher. My goodness. Mary Lou Retton. I remember that she did a cameo role in Bill Murray's Scrooged. Funny movie, that.

Which reminds me, listeners, in another area of our domain, I noticed that someone was looking for books and short stories by Somerset Maugham. I recall that Murray did another approach to Maugham's Razor's Edge in the movie, Stripes. I need to do a bit of research on that one myself.

And here's a song that reminds me of Bill Murray:

Put A Little Love In Your Heart
(Annie Lennox duet with Al Green)

Think of your fellow man
Lend him a helping hand
Put a little love in your heart

You see it's getting late
Oh please don't hesitate
Put a little love in your heart

And the world will be a better place
And the world will be a better place
For you and me
You just wait and see

Another day goes by
And still the children cry
Put a little love in you heart
If you want the world to know
We won't let hatred grow
Put a little love in your heart

And the world will be a better place
And the world will be a better place
For you and me
You just wait and see
Wait and see

Take a good look around
And if you're lookin' down
Put a little love in your heart

I hope when you decide
Kindness will be your guide
Put a little love in your heart

And the world will be a better place
And the world will be a better place
For you and me
You just wait and see

Put a little love in your heart
Put a little love in your heart
Put a little love in your heart
Put a little love in your heart
Put a little love in -
Put a little love in your heart...

And now, I must sign off for a bit and do some stuff.

Later all.

Listeners, I found an odd "thought for the day". I simply don't understand it. What's your interpretation?

Thought for Today: ``Honesty is the best policy, but he who acts on that principle is not an honest man.'' - Richard Whately, British theologian (1787-1863).

????????????????????????.

I reckon, letty, that the thinking of Mr Whately goes like this: if you have to stop and say, today I'm going to be honest or in this situation I'm going to be honest, then you aren't truly honest. If you have to think about being honest as being the best option at a given time, then you really aren't an honest person.
That's my interpretation and, honestly, the best I can come up with right now.
Other ideas? -johnboy-

It's only Monday, but I'm already wishing it were Saturday.

I'm On My Way to Saturday, sung by Harry Belafonte

I'm on my way to Saturday
And I wish you come along with me
I'm on my way to merry be
And I feel like having company
So I'm on my way to Saturday
And I wish you come along with me
How happy we would be

I'm on my way to Saturday
Where the cherry wine is flowing free
I'm on my way to the moonlit skies
And I think I'll stop at paradise
Cause I'm on my way to Saturday
And I wish you come along with me

Today's only Monday
And my worries grow and grow
But soon come the one day
When I tell them away to go
I'm on my way to Saturday
And I wish you come along with me

I'm on my way to share a kiss
With the girl who's interested in this
So I'm on my way to Saturday
And I wish you come along and see
How happy we can be

I'm on my way to Saturday
Where a dreamer really ought to be
I'm on my way to steel the heart
Of the girl who's tearing mine apart
Because I'm on my way to Saturday
And I wish you come along with me

Today's only Tuesday
and the hours dragging on
But soon it's no shoes day
And my cares and woes are gone
I'm on my way to Saturday
Where the evening's a melody
I'm on my way to sing a song
To the girl who cares to come along

And so I'm on my way to Saturday
And I wish you come along and see
How happy we can be, how happy we can be
Lord, Lord in the Carnival
How happy we can be

John, that's a reasonable interpretation, but it's still a little vague, like a lot of the philosophy threads that I have read. Laughing (I saw your comment about the tooth fairy on another segment of our listening audience; Fantastic)

Why, edgar. One would think that you liked Harry.

You know, it is interesting that all I did was think about the weekend when I was teaching, and now, I find the Saturday's and Sunday's rather dull.

Wow! I just noticed that Dys and Di are back. Hey you neat kids. Tell us all about your adventures. We'll call it a WA2K travelogue.

Stay tuned, listeners. Things promise to get exciting here on WA2K.....

Edgar, It was on friday and we spent the night in some town that is the home factory of BlueBell Ice cream, somewhere on highway 290 on the way to Austin. We go tto Austin and stayed in a really nice RV camp that costs $$$$$ and the lady explained (to me only) that the owner of the camp is a devout Baptist and does not approve of anyone smoking or drinking. I lit a camel and asked for a shot glass. I figure they woulda burned a cross on the back of our RV if they knew how to use matches.

Oh, my Gawd, dys. Campground rules...campground rules. They take your money and treat you like fools. Very Happy Good for you, cowboy.

Which leads me to an interesting bit of local news:

I got the strangest letter in the mail today. It was from the Saint Matthew's Churches in Tulsa, OK. Inside, there was a Church Prayer Rug.
Actually, the art work is beautiful. In the center is a picture of Jesus with his eyes closed. Supposedly, if one looks into the eyes, they will open. (optical illusion, of course). I am supposed to go and be alone and kneel on this Rug of Faith or touch it to both knees. After this mini ritual, I am asked to please return the prayer rug.

I do not want to return this Prayer Rug

But here comes the "honesty" part, listeners. I feel, somehow, that I should return the enclosed picture. What do you think?

Raggedy's information on Oral Roberts, sorta coincided as well. UhOh!
