todays bands are brought to you by the letter "E"

A Little Respect
Erasure

I try to discover
A little something to make me sweeter
Oh baby refrain from breaking my heart
I'm so in love with you
I'll be forever blue
That you give me no reason
Why you're making me work so hard

That you give me no
That you give me no
That you give me no
That you give me no

Soul, I hear you calling
Oh baby please give a little respect to me

And if I should falter
Would you open your arms out to me
We can make love not war
And live at peace in our hearts
I'm so in love with you
I'll be forever blue
What religion or reason
Could drive a man to forsake his lover

Don't you tell me no
Don't you tell me no
Don't you tell me no
Don't you tell me no

Soul, I hear you calling
Oh baby please give a little respect to me

I'm so in love with you
I'll be forever blue
That you give me no reason
You know you're making me work so hard

That you give me no
That you give me no
That you give me no
That you give me no

Soul, I hear you calling
Oh baby please give a little respect to me

Soul, I hear you calling
Oh baby please give a little respect to me

Best of My Love Lyrics

Print the Lyrics

Best of My Love
Eagles

Every night I'm lyin' in bed
Holdin' you close in my dreams
Thinkin' about all the things that we said
And comin' apart at the seams
We try to talk it over
But the words come out to rough
I know you were tryin'
to give me the best of your love

Beautiful faces and loud, empty places
Look at the way that we live
Wastin' our time on cheap talk and wine
Left us so little to give
That same old crowd
Was like a cold dark cloud
That we could never rise above
But here in my heart I give you the best of my love
Oh sweet darlin' you get the best of my love, oh
Sweet darlin', you get the best of my love

I'm goin' back in time
And it's a sweet dream
It was a quiet night
And I would be all right
If i could go on sleepin'
But every mornin'
I wake up and worry
What's gonna happen today
You see it your way
And I see it mine
But we both see it slippin' away

You know we always had each other baby
I guess that wasn't enough
Oh, but here in my heart
I give you the best of my love
Oh, sweet darlin'
You get the best of my love
Oh, sweet darlin'
You get the best of my love
Every night and day,
You get the best of my love
Oh, sweet darlin' you get the best of my love
Oh, sweet darlin' you get the best of my love..
etc..

I've Got Your Number
Elbow

Don't put this note by your face on the pillow
Don't put this letter in the pocket near your heart
Keep it in the bottom drawer where you hide the sex tools
I pray you always need them

Chorus
I know what you have done

Throwing advice like grenades at the table
You're spinning your wisdom in stories that change
Your lies are fluorescent my babyfaced angel
Grow a f**king heart love

Chorus
I know what you have done

I've got your number

You've got my number

ah, Mr. Turtle, we all will climb into Reyn's collage in a cyber barrage. What a talented man, he.

There's our Raggedy, listeners. Once again we are in your debt for the celeb updates. I'm trying to recall Geraldine Page's last movie, PA. AHA! Trip to Bountiful or something like that.

There was a movie about the attempt to assassinate De Gaulle, and I think it was something like Three Days of the Condor. RNA is almost as important as DNA folks.

Hey, dj. Love The Eagles, and "A Little Respect" is an antithesis to Rodney Dangerfield, no? Thanks, Canada.

Well, I have things that I must do, and I hope to see Europe with a contribution on the first female chancellor. Heh! Heh! Who knows, maybe we will progress to that point.

Back later.

Hoagy Carmichael wrote Skylark? Amazing, listeners. One of the most beautiful jazz ballads ever written.

"Skylark"

Skylark, have you anything to say to me?
Can you tell me where my love may be?
Is there a meadow in the mist
where he's just waiting to be kissed?

Skylark, have you seen a valley green with spring
where my heart can go a journeying
over the shadows and the rain
to a blossom covered lane?

And in your lonely flight have you heard the music?
In the night, wonderful music.
Faint as a will-o'-the-wisp, crazy as a loon,
sad as a gypsy serenading the moon.

Oh, skylark, I don't know, I don't know
if you can find these things,
but my heart, my heart is riding on your wings.
So if you see them anywhere
won't you lead me there?

Oh, won't you lead me there?
Lead me there, lead me there.
Lead me there, skylark, skylark, skylark, there . . .

navigator, how marvelous to see you in our studio. We are a virtual radio station, honey. We play songs; tell stories; report the news; read poetry-- anything you would hear on any radio station. Tell us about your part of the world, or request a song, tell a personal story, whatever you feel. You can even do a bio on Prince Henry the Navigator if you like. <smile>

Further explanation for our navigator, folks.

That is a picture of Prince Henry the navigator. His is Portuguese. Since your screen name is navigator, we can use this brief song to welcome you.

I found my April dreams in Portugal with you
We discover romance, like we never knew,
My head was in the clouds, my heart went crazy too
And madly I said, "I love you"

My head was in the clouds, my heart went crazy too
And madly I said, "I love you"

Also, this version:

Methinks, navigator, that those are the original lyrics.

Don't be shy, my embattled friend. Speak up.

Letty, I whole heartedly agree: "Folks, I HATE BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION. Premeditated "shaping" is worse than being a fundamentalist. "
The function of psychology, as I see it, is to free us from our demons, not just to change our behavior. The former permits us to be our best selves; the latter renders us mere puppets of our culture.

Thanks, JL and dys. Of course, listeners, we do unconsciously use behavior mod, I have unintentionally.

Hey, I hope our navigator hasn't been scared off. Many of you may not realize that he is taking care of his brother who is very ill, and I think most of us can identify with that. Please do all you can to encourage him to return, if you will.

Back later, listeners, with a song for the evening.

contact santa at the northpole (from canada post)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Letters to Santa - You'll find them in the mail!

Ottawa - It happens every year, right around the beginning of November. Children from all around the world get ready to write their annual letter to Santa. It's time to catch up with Jolly St. Nick and share tales of school adventures, family fun and, of course, this year's wish list. Santa's local post office and Canada Post's special elves are ready to help Santa with the more than one million letters he will receive in the next few months.
Children from around the world are encouraged to send their holiday letters to Santa at his North Pole home:

SANTA CLAUS
NORTH POLE H0H 0H0
CANADA

Santa reminds all his young friends that it is very important to include a complete return address, so that Canada Post can deliver his reply. "Though my postal elves are very good at tracking down some addresses that aren't included with the letter, it makes our job much easier if children remember to include their return address," Santa said.

Children will also want to check out Santa's special web page at www.canadapost.ca/holiday where they can play holiday-themed games and discover easy holiday recipes and crafts. They can also send Santa an e-mail from this special Canada Post site.

Last year, Santa received more than 1 million letters (for the fourth year in a row!), in 27 languages, from his pen pals around the world. Thanks to more than 11,000 volunteer Canada Post employees (current and retired) – Santa's dedicated postal elves – each child received an answer from the North Pole! Santa also received more than 30,000 e-mails from children who wrote to Santa via Canada Post's website.

Since the first Canada Post employees began helping Santa answer his holiday mail more than 30 years ago, Santa has enjoyed more than 13 million wonderful letters, all delivered by Canada Post. This is the 23rd year of the national Canada Post effort to help Santa answer his holiday mail.

Ah, hamburger. I love that info, buddy. Thanks for the reminder of the "light in a child's eyes", and the special work of all Santa's helpers without benefit of reward. <smile>

Well, folks, in noting Don1's thread about Free Jazz, and with guidance from Mr. Turtle, I have been doing a bit of searching. How very informative was the info about John Coltrane and his evolution in thinking.

This song is for The Trane:

Lush Life:

I used to visit all the very gay places
Those come what may places
Where one relaxes on the axis of the wheel of life
To get the feel of life...
From jazz and cocktails.

The girls I knew had sad and sullen gray faces
With distengue traces
That used to be there you could see where they'd been washed away
By too many through the day...
Twelve o'clock tales.

Then you came along with your siren of song
To tempt me to madness!
I thought for a while that your poignant smile was tinged with the sadness
Of a great love for me.

Ah yes! I was wrong...
Again,
I was wrong.

Life is lonely again,
And only last year everything seemed so sure.
Now life is awful again,
A troughful of hearts could only be a bore.
A week in Paris will ease the bite of it,
All I care is to smile in spite of it.

I'll forget you, I will
While yet you are still burning inside my brain.
Romance is mush,
Stifling those who strive.
I'll live a lush life in some small dive...
And there I'll be, while I rot
With the rest of those whose lives are lonely, too..

Thanks, Yit and Don.

Letty, i never had the chance to hear him in person. But, here's something his old employer, Miles Davis, said on the occasion of Jimi Hendrix' funeral:

"I wish I'd had a chance to play with Jimi. But that's okay - he's playing with Coltrane now."

I never saw Hendrix play either. But if they're playing somewhere, i'd like to be in the audience.

Ah, Mr Turtle. You are so sensitive. I did read that the Trane had a religious experience while trying to kick the habit. I understand a bit more about his free music in that it was dissonant, and I like that.

Of all things, listeners, Coltrane did his free style with "My Favorite Things." That's very difficult to imagine, since that song is a bit syrupy to me. Perhaps he improved on it.

Well, folks, regardless of the type music that we like, you will hear it all on WA2K radio plus a course or two in music appreciation. <smile>

And now it's time to say goodnight.

A partial song, my friends, from Cranberries. <smile>

I'll be dreaming my dreams with you.
I'll be dreaming my dreams with you.
And there's no other place,
That I'd lay down my face.
I'll be dreaming my dreams with you.

It's out there. It's out there.
It's out there. If you want me I'll be here...

I'll be dreaming my dreams with you.
I'll be dreaming my dreams with you.
And there's no other place,
That I'd lay down my face.
I'll be dreaming my dreams with you.

Dreaming my dreams with you.
I'll be dreaming my dreams with you.
And there's no other place,
That I'd lay down my face.
I'll be dreaming my dreams with you.

I've Got Your Number - Tony Bennett

I've got your number,
I know you inside out,
You ain't no Eagle Scout,
You're all at sea.
Oh yes, you brag a lot,
Wave your own flag a lot,
But you're unsure a lot,
You're a lot
Like me.
Oh, I've got your number
And what you're looking for,
And what you're looking for
Just suits me fine.
We'll break those rules a lot,
We'll be damn fools a lot,
But then, why should we not,
How could we not
Combine
When I've got your number
And I've got the glow you've got,
I've got your number
And, baby, you know you've got
Mine!

It was not fun, reyn. A woman could not get her range to work, and it's Thanksgiving. The circuit breaker went bad and malfunctioned yesterday, and, nobody had another just like it. We called everybody we knew. Right when I thought it would be necessary to change out the breaker box, a vendor called to say he had it. It was about one PM when it got fixed. Whew.
