Fear not Letty my love. I give you carte blanche to jump in at anytime. You are always welcome and indeed revered by many of this sites afficianados.

Question: does being revered mean you have to ride a horse warning The British are coming or that you're covered in silver?

Well, Bob. I suppose that Paul got too much credit for warning those upstart colonists.

And what song would you like played today, my dear?

Yes, Bob and all, the news is bad again. How about this one:

Lyrics

Sing a song of sad young men, glasses full of rye
All the news is bad again, kiss your dreams goodbye

All the sad young men, sitting in the bars
Knowing neon nights, and missing all the stars

All the sad young men, drifting through the town
Drinking up the night, trying not to drown

All the sad young men, singing in the cold
Trying to forget, that they're growing old

All the sad young men, choking on their youth
Trying to be brave, running from the truth

Autumn turns the leaves to gold, slowly dies the heart
Sad young men are growing old, that's the cruellest part

All the sad young men, seek a certain smile
Someone they can hold, for just a little while

Tired little girl, does the best she can
Trying to be gay, for a sad young men

While a grimy moon, watches from above
All the sad young men, who play at making love

Misbegotten moon shine for sad young men
Let your gentle light guide them home again
All the sad, sad, sad, young men

Tongue tie lady

Last night I had a romance with a tongue tie lady
Who confess that she so love me
Last night I had a romance with a tongue tie lady
Who then confess that she so love me

She said: "Dear I'm all alone at home tonight
We can visit while me grandmother gone out of sight
But later on when I want to hug and kiss
With the tie tongue language she saying this

It's twenty-five to twelve get up
Me grandmother coming 12 o clock
It's twenty-five to twelve get up
Me grandmother coming 12 o clock

Well friends now let me tell you I'm a man of passion
When a pagan beauty catch me eye
This lovely flower bud she set me teeth a gnashing
When I see her Lord I moan and sigh
But on the sofa I decide to sneak a small caress
Later on maybe try a little stupidness
She push me back, she start to break away
In the same tie tongue language again she say

It's 20 to twelve please get up
Me grandmother coming 12 o clock
25 to, no 20, 20 to twelve get up Harry

Well by this time I really was exasperated
With her manner of rejecting me
I tell you out of all the things the Lord created
De woman make the worse calamity
On the sofa again I try to sneak a kiss
Later on to convince her of some greater bliss
Right away but in a voice not quite so strong
She start to sing she tie tongue song

A quarter to 12 Harry get up Harry
Me grandmother coming I tell you honey
A quarter to 12 Harry get up
Me grandmother coming 12 o clock

Now friends you know a man he should not be frustrated
When chasing some delectability
But I know this problem never will be eliminated
Until I'm reaching my senility
By this time I can see that she is getting weak
Me blood pressure rising to the danger peak
When I feel the romance coming soon
Right away she crooning the tongue tie tune

10 to 12 Harry get up me Grandmother darlin' she coming 12 o clock
Harry it's 10 to 12 now come on get up Harry

Well right away me brain receive a revelation
How to make the fruit fall off the tree
If I want a chance to integrate me situation
I got to talk some other talk for she
Right away marriage talk was coming out me mouth
She smile the conquest is no long in doubt
But before she reach insanity,
With the last chance whisper she telling me

It's 12 o clock Harry, Harry, Harry it's 12 o clock,
Harry it's 12 o clock and me grandmother coming
Oh Hello granny I want you to met me friend Harry

The Ugly Bug Ball :: Burl Ives

Once a lonely caterpillar sat and cried,
to a sympathetic beetle by his side.
"I've got nobody to hug,
I'm such an ugly bug."

Then a spider and a dragon fly replied,
"If you're serious and want to win a bride,
come along with us,
to the glorious
annual ugly bug ball."

Come on let's crawl
gotta crawl, gotta crawl
to the ugly bug ball
to the ball, to the ball
and a happy time we'll have there
one and all
at the ugly bug ball

While the crickets clicked their tricky melodies
all the ants were fancy-dancing with the fleas
then up from under the ground
the worms came squirming around

Oh they danced until there legs were nearly lame
every little crawling creature you could name
everyone was glad
what a time they had
they were so happy they came

Everyone was glad! What a time they had!
they were so happy they came!

Come on let's crawl
gotta crawl, gotta crawl
to the ugly bug ball
to the ball, to the ball
and a happy time we'll have there
one and all!
at the ugly bug ball.

Then our caterpillar saw a pretty queen
she was beautiful in yellow, black and green
he said, "Would you care to dance?"
their dancing led to romance.

and she sat upon his caterpillar knees
and he gave his caterpillar queen a squeeze
soon they'll honeymoon
build a big cocoon
thanks to the ugly bug ball

Come on let's crawl
Gotta crawl, gotta crawl,
to the ugly bug ball
to the ball, to the ball
and a happy time we'll have there
one and all!
at the ugly bug ball!

I collected Tongue Tie Lady in 1964. It's in a cabinet with all the other vinyl, safely hid from the upsart CDs I've been collecting.

Poor little caterpillar, Bob. Come here, worm in a cocoon, I'll give you a hug. <smile>

Anyone here care to embrace a worm? Think I'd just as soon pet a tarantula.

You know, edgar. Somewhere buried in my cedar chest there lies a bunch of vinyls.

Wonder where Europe is, folks. Miss them here.

Your news item about the frozen remains of a WWII airman was really eerie. I wonder if he has been identified? Wow! that's the stuff Clive Cussler's books are made of. Thanks for reminding us of the kindness of cold, B.C.

Yes, it is indeed eerie. I guess the other 4 were found years earlier, and this latest find was missed, due to the placement of the body.

Sounds quite fluky that it was found at all.

It's difficult to tell, Reyn, what other things are part of the ice age.

Poem for the day:

TO A SNOWFLAKE
Would that I were as pure and white as you.
My heavy body lifted and transformed
Into the elements ethereal...
Wrought into tiny particles, like you!
Like you, descending softly through the air,
To fall upon the Earth, on Christmas Eve!
To gleam and sparkle, like a diamond bright!
To be, for all, an object of delight!

O fragile beauty, light and intricate!
How awesome is the secret of your birth!
Your origin is steeped in my mystery...
Unsolved enigma of Creator's plan!
Your tiny form has stirred the mind of man
To muse how through the millions of years,
That Mother Earth has witnessed your descent,
No two of you have ever been alike.

Letty, here's some deathless lines by Bela Lugosi from Ed Wood's Bride of the Monster: Laughing

"Home? I have no home. Hunted...despised...living like an animal. The jungle is my home. But I will show the world that I can be it's master! I will perfect my own race of people, a race of atomic supermen who will conquer the world!"

Well, listeners and contributors, I dropped in to say that I really appreciate all the messages on our little virtual radio.

Thanks, Mr. Turtle, for that funny little bit of dialogue.

McTag, I'm afraid that golden slumbers sometimes turn to brass, Brit. <smile>

Raggedy, I'll be back later to look at all your celebs, honey. Just happy to know that you overslept as opposed to having a bug again.

Well, dys, even Michael ain't exempt from the government, is he.(odd Michael, either. Razz )

Just a few problems here on the home front, folks. In the mean time, keep our little radio alive.

on another thread dys told us about a church where the congregation wouldn't stop singing, lyle lovett has this to say about verbose clergy

Church
Lyle Lovett

I went to church last Sunday
So I could sing and pray
But something quite unusual
Happened on that day

Now church it started right on time
Just like it does without a doubt
And everything was all just fine
Except when it came time to let us out

You know the preacher he kept preaching
He told us I have one more thing to say
Children before you think of leaving
You better think about the Judgment Day

Now everyone got nervous
Because everyone was hungry too
And everyone was wondering
What was the next thing he would do

And the preacher he kept preaching
He said now I'll remind you if I may
You all better pay attention
Or I might decide to preach all day

And now everyone was getting so hungry
That the old ones started feeling ill
And the weak ones started passing out
And the young ones they could not sit still

And the preacher's voice rose higher
So I snuck up on the balcony
And I crept into the choir
And I begged them brothers, sisters, help me please

I said when I give you a signal
I said when I raise up my hand
Won't you please join with me together
And praise the Lord I have a plan

And the preacher he kept preaching
Long is the struggle, hard the fight
And I prayed, Father please forgive me
And then I stood up and with all my might
I sang

To the Lord let praises be
It's time for dinner now let's go eat
We've got some beans and some good cornbread
And I listened to what the preacher said
Now it's to the Lord let praised be
It's time for dinner now let's go eat

Yes and I did give a signal
Yes and I raised up my hands
And then joined with me the choir
Yes every woman, child, and man
They sang

To the Lord let praised be
It's time for dinner now let's go eat
We've got some beans and some good cornbread
And I've listened to what the preacher said
Now it's to the Lord let praised be
It's time for dinner now let's go eat

And the preacher he stopped preaching
And a hush the church did fill
And then a great white dove from up above
Landed on the window sill

And the dove flew down beside him
And a fork appeared right in his hand
And with everybody watching
The preacher ate that bird right there and then

And now everyone got really nervous
And the preacher he did start to glow
And as we watched in disbelief
These were the words he spoke

He said now Mama's in the kitchen
And she's been there all day
And I know she's cooking something good
So let's bow our heads and pray
And he sang

To the Lord let praises be
It's time for dinner now let's go eat
We've got some beans and some good cornbread
Now listen to what the preacher said
He said to the Lord let praised be
It's time for dinner now let's go eat

And the moral of this story
Children it is plain but true
God knows if a preacher preaches long enough
Even he'll get hungry too
And he'll sing

To the Lord let praises be
It's time for dinner now let's go eat
We've got some beans and some good cornbread
Now listen to what the preacher said
He said to the Lord let praised be
It's time for dinner now let's go eat
