That song is on the Belafonte album, Streets I Have Walked, no longer in print, I think.

Thanks, Raggedy for the celeb updates. Joe Green is such an unromantic name, no? <smile>

Reyn, I'm getting more and more acclimated, I think.

edgar, I know that song. Thanks, Texas.

Here's to the Monk Man:

Body And Soul

Johnny W. Green / Edward Heyman / Robert Sour / Frank Eyton

You're making me blue
All that you do
Seems unfair
You try not to hear
Turn a deaf ear
To my prayer
It seems you don't want to see
What you are doingg to me
My arms are waiting to caress you
And to my heart they long to press you, sweet heart

My heart is sad and lonely
For you I cry
For you, dear, only
I tell you I mean it
I'm all for you
Body and soul

I spend my days in longing
And wondering it's me you're wronging
Why haven't you seen it
I'm all for you
Body and soul

I can't believe it
It hard to conceive it
That you'd turn away romance
Are you pretending
Don't say it's the ending
I wish I could have one more change to prove, dear
My life a hell your'e making
You know I'm yours for just the taking
I'd gladly surrender
Myself to you
Body and soul

Life's dreary for me
Day's seem to be long as years
I've looked for the sun
But can see none
Through my tears
Your heart must be like a stone
To leave me like this alone
When you could make my life worth living
By taking what I'm set on giving, sweet heart

My heart is sad and lonely
For you I cry
For you, dear, only
I tell you I mean it
I'm all for you
Body and soul

Here she is, our dearly missed Miss Letty, with a shiny brandnew computer. I am delighted to read your lovely
posts again.

Today, I feel quite connected to New York, so if I may,
I'd like to hear some Frank Sinatra

Start spreading the news
I'm leaving today
I want to be a part of it, New York, New York
These vagabond shoes
Are longing to stray
And make a brand new start of it
New York, New York
I want to wake up in the city that never sleeps
To find I'm king of the hill, top of the heap
These little town blues
Are melting away
I'll make a brand new start of it
In old New York
If I can make it there
I'll make it anywhere
It's up to you, New York, New York.

I want to wake up in the city that never sleeps
To find I'm king of the hill, top of the heap
These little town blues
Are melting away
I'll make a brand new start of it
In old New York
If I can make it there
I'll make it anywhere
It's up to you, New York, New York.

I'd like to emulate CJ, and keep the sophistication going..........

By offering a song that my family sang to me, when I returned from the Pub last night......

"Don't Jump off the Roof, Dad,
You'll make a hole in the yard
Mother's just planted petunias,
The weeding and seeding was hard
If you must end it all, Dad,
Then why don't you give us a break
Just take a walk to the park, Dad,
And then you can jump in the lake!"

Thank You.

ah, CJ. Love Sinatra, of course. That song is a great one. Thanks ,San Diego. <smile>

My goodness, Ellpus. That brief verse was captivating. Reminds me of an old UVA frat song. "Get up off of that floor, Hannah, them hogs have got to be fed." Razz

Well, we are missing our European friends, but I know that Walter may have a date with a kissing cousin.

Where is Manchester and Paris?

FRANK SINATRA lyrics - "My Kind Of Town"

www.OldieLyrics.com

(S. Cahn, J. Van Heusen)

[Recorded April 8, 1964, Los Angeles]

Now this could only happen to a guy like me
And only happen in a town like this
So may I say to each of you most gratef'lly
As I throw each one of you a kiss

This is my kind of town, Chicago is
My kind of town, Chicago is
My kind of people, too
People who smile at you

And each time I roam, Chicago is
Calling me home, Chicago is
Why I just grin like a clown
It's my kind of town

[brief instrumental]

My kind of town, Chicago is
My kind of town, Chicago is
My kind of razzmatazz
And it has all that jazz

And each time I leave, Chicago is
Tuggin' my sleeve, Chicago is
The Wrigley Building, Chicago is
The Union Stockyard, Chicago is
One town that won't let you down
It's my kind of town

Green Day - Wake Me Up When September Ends

Summer has come and passed
The innocent can never last
wake me up when september ends

like my fathers come to pass
seven years has gone so fast
wake me up when september ends

here comes the rain again
falling from the stars
drenched in my pain again
becoming who we are

as my memory rests
but never forgets what I lost
wake me up when september ends

summer has come and passed
the innocent can never last
wake me up when september ends

ring out the bells again
like we did when spring began
wake me up when september ends

here comes the rain again
falling from the stars
drenched in my pain again
becoming who we are

as my memory rests
but never forgets what I lost
wake me up when september ends

Summer has come and passed
The innocent can never last
wake me up when september ends

like my father's come to pass
twenty years has gone so fast
wake me up when september ends
wake me up when september ends
wake me up when september ends

Walter didn't kiss any nor had a date with a cousin, but caughtt our nearly 13 year old niece at siste-in-law, since she stays a couple of days here.

McTag will be preparing his Indian tour, I think.

Thanks, all, for the great songs and contributions.

Still having a few problems with my new machine, but it doesn's matter, I will eventually get it right.

Oh, yes, Walter. I forgot about Taggers' India trip. Sorry, about the kissing cousin remark. I have memory problems myself. Razz

One thing, folks, that I have never located, is the lyrics to The Song of India, but Raggedy and I will eventually get it right, or at least she will. Laughing

Dys, don't know that one, but it must be a goodun'.

A2K NEWS AND WEATHER BULLETIN......

A large lorry on its way from a wig warehouse has overturned on the freeway.
Police are said to be combing the area.

A man convicted of stealing 500 Monopoly sets was today sentenced to go to jail, to go directly to jail, to not pass go and not collect 200 dollars.

Police broke into the home of Ireland's most brilliant forger today and took away two million seven dollar notes.

The Capybara farmer who has kept himself awake every night for seventeen years by snoring has at least found the answer. He's going to sleep in another room.

....and now the weather.

This is today's weather forecast.......

It will be dry in Rye,
Cool in Goole,
And those of you living in Lissingdowne are advised to take an umbrella.

....if you miss this bulletin, it is also available on A2K news thread, or send a crisp $50 note to my charitable foundation at Droitwich Manor.

...and now, back to the music.

Razz Ellpus, you are indeed a wag. Here's one for you, Brit:

Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young - Helplessly Hoping Lyrics
by Stephen Stills

'elplessly hoping
Her harlequin hovers nearby
Awaiting a word
Gasping at glimpses
Of gentle true spirit
He runs, wishing he could fly
Only to trip at the sound of good-bye
Wordlessly watching
He waits by the window
And wonders
At the empty place inside
Heartlessly helping himself to her bad dreams
He worries
Did he hear a good-bye? Or even hello?
They are one person
They are one person
They are two alone
They are three together
They are for each other
Stand by the stairway
You'll see something
Certain to tell you confusion has its cost
Love isn't lying
It's loose in a lady who lingers
Saying she is lost
And choking on hello
They are one person
They are two alone
They are three together
They are for each other

Also sending that Irishman a get out of jail free card.

Hopelessly Devoted To You (Olivia Newton John)

Guess mine is not the first heart broken,
My eyes are not the first to cry
I'm not the first to know,
There's just no gettin' over you

I'm just a fool who's willing
To sit around and wait for you
But baby can't you see,
There's nothin' else for me to do
I'm hopelessly devoted to you

But now there's nowhere to hide,
Since you pushed my love aside
I'm not in my head,
Hopelessly devoted to you
Hopelessly devoted to you,
Hopelessly devoted to you

My head is saying "fool, forget him",
My heart is saying "don't let go"
Hold on to the end,
That's what I intend to do
I'm hopelessly devoted to you

But now there's nowhere to hide,
Since you pushed my love aside
I'm not in my head,
Hopelessly devoted to you

A very elderly gentleman (mid-nineties), very well dressed, hair well
groomed, great-looking suit, flower in his lapel, smelling slightly of
a good after-shave, presenting a well-looked-after image, walks into an
upscale cocktail lounge.
Seated at the bar is an elderly looking lady (mid-eighties).
The gentleman walks over, sits along side of her, orders a drink, takes
a sip, turns to her, and says, "So tell me, do I come here often?"

Ah, listeners, we can always count on our Bob to play Olivia and tell us an old folks' joke. Delightful, Boston, and a marvelous combination.

Should we remind our friends to get a flu shot? Nah. let's just play a kiddie's song. <smile>

Say, say, oh playmate,
Come out and play with me
And bring your dollies three
Climb up my apple tree

Shout down my rain barrel
Slide down my cellar door
And we'll be jolly friends
Forever more more more more more

Say, say, oh playmate
I cannot play with you
My dolly's got the flu
Boo hoo hoo hoo hoo hoo

Ain't got no rain barrel
Ain't got no cellar door
But we'll be jolly friends
Forever more more more more more.

Heh! Heh! edgar, I have to smile when I hear that song. Thanks, Texas.

Interestingly enough, listeners, when searching for something to play here on WA2K, I came across this song. Really odd!

Heaven's Gate
ยป Mastermind

Who is turning out the light when night comes
Feel the focus in your sight
He keeps you warm and tender
Who is connecting all the world together and
Who is taking care of time
The pulse of every heartbeat under control

Like a dream in your dreams
He's the mastermind
Watch your life on the screen of the mastermind

Bits are cloning human race without a touch
Computer interface to satisfy your pleasures
You are lost in cyberspace pretending life
Leaving back no trace
Your mind is penetrated under control

Like a dream in your dreams
He's the mastermind
Watch your life on the screen of the mastermind

Love, a terminal disease is healed by force
A digital release so don't you run for cover
You will be safe

Like a dream in your dreams
He's the mastermind
Watch your life on the screen of the mastermind
