If Lindbergh's sandwiches were of the dagwood variety, four might have been more than sufficient.

been saving this one for October:

Autumn Serenade

Through the trees comes autumn with her serenade.
Melodies the sweetest music ever played.
Autumn kisses we knew are beautiful souvenirs.
As I pause to recall the leaves seem to fall like tears.

Silver stars were clining to an autumn sky.
Love was ours until October wandered by.
Let the years come and go,
I'll still feel the glow that time can not fade
When I hear that lovely autumn serenade.

to the President, can you spell global warming?

this was Billboard #1 this time in '53

Vaya Con Dios - Les Paul & Mary Ford

Now the hacienda's dark
The town is sleeping
Now the time has come to part
The time for weeping

Vaya con dios, my darling
Vaya con dios, my love

Now the village mission bells are softly ringing
If you listen with your heart
You'll hear them singing

Vaya con dios, my darling
Vaya con dios, my love

Wherever you may be, I'll be beside you
Although you're many million dreams away
Each night I'll say a pray'r
A pray'r to guide you
To hasten every lonely hour
Of every lonely day
Now the dawn is breaking through a gray tomorrow
But the memories we share are there to borrow

Vaya con dios, my darling
Vaya con dios, my love

[Musical Interlude]

Vaya con dios, my darling
Vaya con dios, my love

This hawk banding season has been the worst we've ever had. We started late because Mike had to have his license renewed. There have been no good flight days hence few hawks to try for. We actually started mid September when we usually start late August. Total catch as of yesterday was three sharp shinned hawks. That's abysmal. I caught all three. Mike's caught none. Not only that only one species when we expect to catch six or seven..

Now that I've made it seem as bleak as possible, we had a great day. We saw only seven hawks all day and caught four of them. Not only that but there were three species. Catch consisted of two sharp shinned hawks and one each were a Coopers hawk and a red tailed hawk. High fives to all two of us. Unfortunately there was no champagne to break out and celebrate. Furthermore we banded together on Mike's side so he doesn't feel left out of the mix anymore. You should have seen the grin on his face. As the ad says---priceless!

You know, hawkman. You are very dedicated to the things you do in your life, and not only do you use those talents, but you seem to enjoy your own company. There's a lot to be said for that, folks.

A little personal anecdote of my own, folks:

When I went out this evening, to purchase a few things, I stopped by my favorite little station, and had the most wonderful conversation with a perfect stranger. The young man behind the counter was talking on a cell phone and listening to his favorite, "non-music" and transacting business with me at the same time. Yes, these kids can multi task with such ease.

The other gentleman talked about his club that he owned, and how he had always been warned that smoking would stunt his growth. He was very healthy and nice looking and stood about 6'2'' tall. He then showed me some interesting scars where he had been forced to bounce several unruly patrons. What a pleasant and elevating few minutes it was for your Letty.

The time has come for me to say goodnight, my friends.

Guide me safely through the night,
Wake me with the morning light.

From Letty with Love

Does that mean we're a little over the hill yet? Laughing

I was a comic collector in the old days. I think I know pretty much all of them, or at least did.
