colorbook, I just heard that song on the TV,(some kind of dance show) and recalled that Raggedy had Debbie Boone among her celebs. Wow! things are sometimes eerie.

Limeys, you say?

Lime-juice sailors. The juice of the lime fruit, which kept well, was an anti-scurvy specific on sailing ships (in the days before refrigeration could keep food fresh for its Vitamin C properties)
So the ships'crews were given a ration of lime juice and vodka.

McTag, you are a wonder. I have taken note, as I am certain all of the U.S. listeners have, of the difference in pronunciation. Interesting about the origin of limeys, and the vodka is good with a twist of lime. Razz

Rex, great songs, and thanks for playing them, buddy. We also appreciate your having reminded us of quinine and its benefits.

So, folks. What we have here is a lesson; a drink with quinine, lime, and vodka, and delightful songs and responses.

HOUSTON - Hurricane Rita roared toward the Texas and Louisiana coasts early Friday, a major Category 4 storm that spurred a traffic-snarled exodus and fears it could cripple the heart of the nation's petrochemical industry. Authorities Friday advised Houston residents who were still at home who to stay there.


Forecasters said it appeared Houston and Galveston could avoid a direct hit as Rita veered slightly to the east, threatening its 140 mph winds at the Beaumont and Port Arthur area about 75 miles east of Houston. An 8 a.m. EDT advisory from the National Hurricane Center said the winds remained at 140 mph. The storm was expected to near the coast later Friday or early Saturday.

Hope you all know my absense is not a snub, just, my life has to take it's own particular avenue, and for now it has little to do with a2k. Of course, this weekend is different because my area is facing the storm. I will not be always gone, but there are so many projects, so little time. At 63 I work a job that many in their 30s could not handle. Lately it is wearing on me. I need my time and energy to accomplish personal projects.
