I DREAMED THERE WERE UNICORNS
by Bill Caddick

We were traveling north to sing and play
For friends that we had never met
Been working hard and didn't speak
The sky was grey and threatened wet
And I dreamed that I saw unicorns
Dreamed I saw them wild and white
their sudden beauty lit the world
Like a star will light a winter's night

Pure as love with manes of milk
They danced and pranced and cried aloud
Bright as rainbows round the stars
Their eyes were soft and sad and proud

And I wept for the wild and dirty world
To which this beauty now was lost
And cursed the hungry mind of man
That feeds the future at such cost
My head was bowed, my eyes were closed
When in my ears their voices rang
And these few words lodged deep inside
And in my very soul they sang

We never went away
You always knew that we were near
Remember how to look for us
You'll see we were always here

I raised my eyes to seek them out
The world was empty all around
The rain came tumbling from the sky
It drowned all dreams upon the ground
And when they asked me why I wept
Like one who for his dead love mourns
The only answer I could give
I dreamed that there were unicorns
We never went away
You always knew that we were near
Remember how to look for us
You'll see we were always here

Ah, Diane. You made me shed a tear, but that's all right,

For somewhere near, there is a mythical beast,
That lies in wait for all to keep
"...a bower quiet for us..."

Its golden horn shall be our cornucopia,
Our wishes caught up in Utopia,
That must be our planet somewhere,
Beyond the pale.

Not our last unicorn, but our first.
Be we white or colors at their worst.

Goonight, my friends.

OLE FAITHFUL

Ole Faithful, we've rode the range together
Ole Faithful, in every kind of weather
When the roundup days are over
There'll be pastures white with clover
For you, Ole Faithful, pal of mine

Hurry up, old fellow
For the moon is yellow tonight
Hurry up, old fellow
For the moon is mellow and bright
There the coyotes howl at the moon above
Oh, carry me back to the one I love
Hurry up, old fellow
'Cause I got to get home tonight

Ole Faithful, we've rode the range together
Ole Faithful, in every kind of weather
When the roundup days are over
There'll be pastures white with clover
For you, Ole Faithful, pal of mine

From Letty with love

Letty, I love Old Faithful. I've known cowboy relatives who have felt that closeness to their horses. Best pals and confidants. Dys, on the other hand, has more respect for mules, which is understandable, knowing their strength and agility and steadiness. Still, horses are things of such magnificent beauty.

Now for a sad song. It reflects my feelings about another thread on which the complexities of life are ignored for the sake of dogma.

November Spawned A Monster
Morrissey

Sleep on and dream of Love
Because it's the closest you will
Get to love
Poor twisted child
So ugly, so ugly
Poor twisted child
Oh hug me, oh hug me
One November
Spawned a monster
In the shape of this child
Who later cried :

"But Jesus made me, so
Jesus save me from
pity, sympathy
And people discussing me"
A frame of useless limbs
What can make GOOD
All the BAD that's been done ?

And if the lights were out
Could you even bear
To kiss her full on the mouth
(Or anywhere?)

Oh, poor twisted child
So ugly, so ugly
Poor twisted child
Oh hug me, oh hug me
One November
Spawned a monster
In the shape of this child
Who must remain
A hostage to kindness
And the wheels underneath her
A hostage to kindness
And the wheels underneath her

A symbol of where mad, mad lovers
Must PAUSE and draw the line.
So sleep and dream of love
Because it's the closest
You will get to love
That November
Is a time
Which I must
Put OUT of my mind

The answer to Letty must be

What's in a name? A rose by any other name would smell as sweet....

That Texas panther wouldn't look so beautiful if it had its teeth in your nether regions, Diane

Hey, McTag.

Wouldn't you know, folks, that this is one of those nights, days that I cannot sleep? It always happens when I have a million things to do.

Well, Brit. The answer is Romeo's soliloquy in Romeo and Juliet:

Bishop's Drama

Romeo from Romeo & Juliet---Act 5, sc. 3, lines 88-120

How oft when men are at the point of death
Have they been merry! Which their keepers call
A lightning before death. Oh, how may I
Call this a lightning? O my love! My wife!
Death, that hath sucked the honey of thy breath,
Hath no power yet upon thy beauty.
Thou art not conquered; beauty's ensign yet
Is crimson in thy lips and in thy cheeks,
And death's pale flag is not advanced there.
Tybalt, liest thou there in thy bloody sheet?
Oh, what more favor can I do thee
Than with that hand that cut thy youth in twain
To sunder his that was thine enemy?
Forgive me, Cousin! Ah, dear Juliet,
Why art thou yet so fair? Shall I believe
That unsubstantial death is amorous,
And that the lean abhorred monster keeps
Thee here in dark to be his paramour?
For fear of that, I still will stay with thee,
And never from this palace of dim night
Depart again. Here, here will I remain
With worms that are thy chambermaids. Oh, here
Will I set up my everlasting rest,
And shake the yoke of inauspicious stars
From this world-wearied flesh. Eyes, look your last!
Arms, take your last embrace! And lips, O you
The doors of breath, seal with a righteous kiss
A dateless bargain to engrossing death!
Come, bitter conduct, come, unsavory guide!
Thou desperate pilot, now at once run on
The dashing rocks thy seasick weary bark.
Here's to my love! [Drinks] O true apothecary!
Thy drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss I die.

God's stars shine out in Heaven,
The birds make not a peep,
The night is dark and quiet,
It's time to go to sleep.

Good night, my little darling,
Sweet dreams I send to you,
And while you sleep, God's angels
Will keep watch over you.

Ah, Walter, that is very close to a sleeping potion. <smile>

But generally, when I get in this state, I simply read and write. So, Germany, do you have a request?

Since my computer broke down (being now on the one of Mrs. Walter), since I couldn't shop at my supermarket (area closed due to the fact that a cupboard in the pharmacy fall down and the firebrigade sealed the area) ... well, something encouraging would be nice

McTag, is that a request for something broken?<smile>

Well, folks, Let's think of a song for Walter and his wife.

Hummin' to Myself

written by Sammy Fain, Herbert Magidson, Monty Siegel
© DE SYLVA BROWN HENDERSON
% CHAPPELL & CO INC
% WARNER CHAPPELL MUSIC INC (ASCAP)

I'm a singer of love songs
Songs that are happy and gay
But how can I sing my love songs
My lover's gone away

I got the words
I got the tune
I've been rehearsing under the moon
But I got nobody to hear my song
So I'm hummin' to myself

I've got the place
I've got the time
I've got a lot of love words that rhyme
But I got nobody to hear my song
So I'm hummin' to myself

mmm mmm
I guess it just had to be
mmm mmm
Won't someone listen to me

I got the words and I got the tune
I'd like to croon it under the moon
But I got nobody to hear my song
So I'm hummin' to myself

Well I got the words and I got the tune
And I'd like to croon it under the moon
But I got nobody to hear my song
So I'm hummin' to myself
Mm, hummin' to myself
Well I'm hummin' to myself
I'm hummin' to myself.

When Walter returns, I'll bet he will know who sang that.

Well, listeners. I just found out where our Cyracuz has been. What a bummer.

For him:

Hawk Nelson - Things We Go Through Lyrics
Billy made a promise but didn't end though
Carrie had a dream but she threw it out the window
Kevin met a nice girl who broke his heart and
His friends never told him but they knew it from the start
and...

These are the things we go through
Let's take control and be ourselves
Let's not waste time wondering about
How we're gonna make it out

Wake up everyone around you
Let's rock until the clock strikes two
Stand up for what you believe and shout to
Here's another song from the youth that surround you

Kyle's parents split up, he thinks it's his fault
Little does he know that the time they're in was difficult
Andrew she left home, said she had enough
All she really wanted was somebody else there to love

She's all along again, it's the same old argument
And she needs a helping hand to help her find the truth

These are the things we go through
Let's take control and be ourselves
Let's not waste time wondering about
How we're gonna make it out

Wake up everyone around you
Lets rock until the clock strikes two
Stand up for what you believe and shout to
Here's another song from the youth that surrounds you

Save me I'm all alone as I'm coming to the surface
Tell me I've got to know what is my meaning and my purpose
Show me I'm far from home lost with no sense of direction
Take me to Your throne

Billy made a promise but didn't end though
Carried had a dream but she threw it out the window
Kevin met a nice girl who broke his heart and
His friends never told him but they knew it from the start
and...

These are the things we go through
Let's take control and be ourselves
Let's not waste time wondering about
How we're gonna make it out

Wake up everyone around you
Let's rock until the clock strikes two
Stand up for what you believe and shout to
Here's another song from the youth that surround you

Well, folks. Here's one for our McTag:

Up aloft, amid the rigging
Swiftly blows the fav'ring gale,
Strong as springtime in its blossom,
Filling out each bending sail,
And the waves we leave behind us
Seem to murmur as they rise;
We have tarried here to bear you
To the land you dearly prize.
Rolling home, rolling home,
Rolling home across the sea,
Rolling home to dear old England
Rolling home, dear land to thee.

Now, it takes all hands to man the capstan,
Mister see your cables clear!
Soon you'll be sailing homeward bound sir,
And for the channel you will steer.
See your sheets and crew lines free sir,
All your buntlines overhauled;
Are the sheerpoles and gear all ready?
Soon for New England we will steer.
Rolling home, rolling home,
Rolling home across the sea,
Rolling home to dear old England
Rolling home, dear land to thee.

Full ten thousand miles behind us,
And a thousand miles before,
Ancient ocean waves to waft us
To the well remembered shore.
Newborn breezes swell to send us
To our childhood welcome skies,
To the glow of friendly faces
And the glance of loving eyes.
Rolling home, rolling home,
Rolling home across the sea,
Rolling home to dear old England
Rolling home, dear land to thee.

Let Me

(Vera Matson - Elvis Presley)

Whenever I dance with the girl I love
My head goes round and round
When she's close to me
I can't stay on the ground

Whenever I dance with the girl I love
I never have a care
All night I'm so light
I walk right on the air

Oh let me, oh honey let me
Let me do what you know I love to do
Please take another chance and let me
Let me have another dance with you

Whenever I feel those pretty arms
Reaching round about
That feeling goes to my toes
And all the lights go out, go out, go out

Whenever I see those eyes of blue
Smiling up so shy
I'm in such a spin I take right off and fly

So let me, oh honey let me
Let me do what you know I love to do
Please take another chance and let me
Let me have another dance with you

So let me dance in the arms I love
Thrill me through and through
I'm so drunk with love
That all I see is you

I never hear the music play
I never see the crowd
Only you and me
Dancing on a cloud
Oh let me, oh honey let me
Let me do what you know I love to do
Please take another chance and let me
Let me have, another dance, with you

edgar, that's an endearing song. Perhaps if we dance a little, we can get our hebba to come back.

Well, listeners. What type dance do you prefer? Cheek to cheek, or some other gyrations?
