@ossobuco,
Hi Jo. I know you like this Malian Blues groove.... Here is young Toure showing off his dexterity for friends in Bamako:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GRYi89cvr3w
(I think he took the nickname of "Vieux" out of irony 'cause everyone called him "le Jeune Toure'")

Here is Vieux Farka Toure' 's father, ALI Farka Toure' playing the blues from the desert itself:

(sorry for the ending)

Another birthday guy, y'all, but first some info:

Shaffer Chimere Smith (born October 18, 1982), known by his stage name Ne-Yo, is an American R&B singer, songwriter, record producer, dancer, and actor. Ne-Yo began his career as a songwriter in 2004, when he penned the hit "Let Me Love You" for singer Mario. The single's successful release in the United States prompted an informal meeting between Ne-Yo and Def Jam's label head, and the signing of a recording contract.

I like Tony's version better, however:

Thanks for the bump session, Osso, Olivier 5 and Letty.

@edgarblythe,
I love "the velvet fog" doing that song, Texas, but what is so super about a man?

Here's Helen with another take on that one:

@edgarblythe,
Texas, thanks for you comment and personal acknowledgement. Loved Billy Jack and The Dakotas doing Bad to Me.

Going to say good late afternoon with two songs. First, a Good Witch:

Wow! The original book by Frank Baum is up for $32,000.

Poor Judy. She was too old to do Dorothy:

At the car boot sale today I bought a small book, (either late 19th Century or early 20th Century) called Shakespeare Birthday Book. It contains a list of quotations for every day of the year, and a corresponding blank page to write birthdays in. It belonged to one Audrey Athey or Atkey of Chichester. And I think it's probably same to assume she's no longer with us. Anyway I will post the daily quotation(s) and birthdays mentioned at least until the year is out.

Here are today's quotations.

I do not think
So fair an outward and such stuff within
Endows a man but he.

Cymbeline Act I Sc I
For there was never yet fair woman
but she made mouths in a glass.

King Lear Act III Sc I

Good morning from our radio station here in Florida.

Olivier 5, glad you liked that Moon song by Debussy.

Welcome back, Pullman. Never read King Lear, but those are great quotes from Shakespeare.

Remembering Jean Le Carre today and his cold war book The Spy Who Came in From the Cold starring Richard Burton. I liked Richard best as Edwin Boothe.

This is a brief version, but I think most of us will recognize "The Prince of Players."
