Strange, y'all, I thought that cats always came back, but not my calico cat that we named Big Mamma. I awakened one night hearing a strange song on my piano. It was she playing a song on the black keys.

Another tribute to an animal. The mother of the two kittens looked like her.

Good morning to everyone from here in our Florida radio station.

A brief comment to our listeners and contributors. The best way to get rid of the rating system is NOT to use it. No radios had such a thing anyway. a simple comment and personal acknowledgement is the proper format.

I broke my fast early this morning as I was awakened by a big full moon peeking in our window.

So long ago when I stood atop Afton mountain and looked into the valley, I thought of a poem set to music.

First the instrumental:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vxbQgbi82vQ

now, y'all, the poem:

Robert Burns

Flow gently, sweet Afton! amang thy green braes,
Flow gently, I'll sing thee a song in thy praise;
My Mary's asleep by thy murmuring stream,
Flow gently, sweet Afton, disturb not her dream.

Thou stockdove whose echo resounds thro' the glen,
Ye wild whistling blackbirds in yon thorny den,
Thou green-crested lapwing thy screaming forbear,
I charge you, disturb not my slumbering Fair.

How lofty, sweet Afton, thy neighbouring hills,
Far mark'd with the courses of clear, winding rills;
There daily I wander as noon rises high,
My flocks and my Mary's sweet cot in my eye.

How pleasant thy banks and green valleys below,
Where, wild in the woodlands, the primroses blow;
There oft, as mild Ev'ning weeps over the lea,
The sweet-scented birk shades my Mary and me.

Thy crystal stream, Afton, how lovely it glides,
And winds by the cot where my Mary resides;
How wanton thy waters her snowy feet lave,
As, gathering sweet flowerets, she stems thy clear wave.

Flow gently, sweet Afton, amang thy green braes,
Flow gently, sweet river, the theme of my lays;
My Mary's asleep by thy murmuring stream,
Flow gently, sweet Afton, disturb not her dream.

Once again, calling all musicians, painters, poets, and music lovers.

We've done our poem for today, so let's try another play.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKg1tpapdJ4

Now, the lyrics:

So won't you come along with me
Down the Mississippi
We'll take trip to the land of dreams
Floatin' down the river down to New Orleans

And the band'll be there to meet us
old friends to greet us
That's where the light and the dark folks meet
A heaven on earth, they call it Basin Street

Basin street is the street
Where the elite always meet
Out in New Orleans, the land of dreams
You'll never know how nice it seems

Or just how much it really means
And I'd rather be, yes, siree
New Orleans the land of dreams
Where I can lose my Basin Street blues

@edgarblythe,
Welcome back, Texas. Great tribute to Woody by Phil. Also enjoyed that song by John. I didn't know it, so thanks again for the introduction.

Speaking of trains, How about John Coltrane:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r594pxUjcz4

and,part of the lyrics:

In a sentimental mood I can see
The stars come through my room
While your loving attitude
Is like a flame that lights the gloom

On the wings of every kiss
Drift a melody so strange and sweet
In this sentimental bliss
You make my paradise complete

Rose petals seem to fall
It's all like a dream to call you mine
My heart's a lighter thing
Since you made me this night a thing divine

In a sentimental mood
I'm within a world so heavenly
For I never dreamt
That you'd be loving sentimental me
