Laughing Ooh-hoo-hooo Very Happy .....(ahem)..I mean shame on you, you rascal! Twisted Evil

....Anyway, thanks DJ!. I actually sat here, and song the song, while chuckling. Paul Simon is a true genius. I don't know if he gets his props, but I put him up there with Wonder, Lennon-McCarthy, and Smokey Robinson.

Ah, Raggedy, as the men bond and slap each other on the back, you come in with a song to teach all of us. I do wish our hebba would visit us once in a while.

I think, listeners, that all of us have had unpleasant experiences in the class room, and yes, dj. so often really gifted students fall through the cracks in the public school system. That will never change, I'm afraid.

Well, folks, it's that time of night for me and I must say goodnight:

[ANNIE]
Just thinkin' about
Tomorrow
Clears away the cobwebs,
And the sorrow
Till there's none!

When I'm stuck a day
That's gray,
And lonely,
I just stick out my chin
And grin,
And say,

Oh, the sun'll come out
Tomorrow
So ya gotta hang on
'Til tomorrow
Come what may
Tomorrow!
Tomorrow!
I love ya Tomorrow!

[IKES]
The sun'll come out
Tomorrow
Bet your bottom dollar
That tomorrow
There'll be sun!

[PERKINS AND IKES]
Just thinking about
Tomorrow

[ANNIE, PERKINS AND IKES]
Clears away the cobwebs
And the sorrow
'Til there's none!

[ROOSEVELT]
[spoken] Solo for the President .....!
[singing] When I'm stuck with a day
That's gray and lonely
I just stick out my chin
And grin, and say--

[ALL]
The sun'll come out
Tomorrow
So ya gotta hang on
'Til tomorrow
Come what may
Tomorrow!
Tomorrow!
I love ya
Tomorrow!
You're always a day away
Tomorrow! Tomorrow! I love ya, tomorrow
You're always a day away!

Tomorrow then, dear people:

From Letty with love.

Still Crazy After All These Years
Paul Simon

I met my old lover
On the street last night
She seemed so glad to see me
I just smiled
And we talked about some old times
And we drank ourselves some beers
Still crazy afler all these years
Oh, still crazy after all these years

I'm not the kind of man
Who tends to socialize
I seem to lean on
Old familiar ways
And I aint no fool for love songs
That whisper in my ears
Still crazy afler all these years
Oh, still crazy after all these years

Four in the morning
Tapped out, yawning
Longing my life a--way
I'll never worry
Why should I?
I know it's all gonna fade

Now I sit by my window
And I watch the cars go by
I fear I'll do some damage
One fine day
But I would not be convicted
By a jury of my peers
Still crazy after all these years
Oh, still crazy
Still crazy
Still crazy after all these years

Breakin' Up

Now every once in a while
There's a crack in my smile
Dark voices are talking to me
Dark voices tell me the way
It's supposed to be
They said "Breakin' up"
They said "It's hard to do"
But what they say
About breakin' up
Y'know it's just not true
Breakin' up, it's easy to do
Breakin' up, it's easy to do
Why if you know
Why did you have to go
And leave me on t he floor
About as sick as a dog
I'm feeding my face
Like a bleary-eyed hog
Why'd it have to stop
With so much good undone
Breakin' up, it's easy to do
Breakin' up, it's easy to do
Breakin' up, it's easy to do
Y'know I break up every time
I break up with you

Kiss Off

I need someone a person to talk to
someone who'd care to love
could it be you could it be you
situation gets rough then I start to panic
it's not enough it's just a habit
hey kid your sick well darling this is it

you can all just kiss off into the air
behind my back I can see them stare
they'll hurt me bad but I won't mind
they'll hurt me bad they do it all the time
yeah yeah they do it all the time

I hope you know this will go down
on your permanent record
oh yeah well don't get so distressed
did I happen to mention that I'm impressed

I take
1 1 1 cause you left me and
2 2 2 for my family and
3 3 3 for my heartache and
4 4 4 for my headaches and
5 5 5 for my lonely and
6 6 6 for my sorrow and
7 7 for no tomorrow and
8 8 I forget what 8 was for and
9 9 9 for a lost god and
10 10 10 10 for everything
everything everything everything

you can all just kiss off into the air
behind my back I can see them stare
they'll hurt me bad but I won't mind
they'll hurt me bad they do it all the time
yeah yeah they do it all the time

Machine

I got a machine
And I took over the world
In one weekend
I took over the world
With my machine
I did it because
I was looking for a project
And it was either
Take over the world or learn French
So I took over the world
And next weekend
I can learn French
I got a machine
And I took over the world
But nothing changed
That wouldn't be fair

Blue Jay Way
Harrison

There's a fog upon L.A.
And my friends have lost their way
We'll be over soon they said
Now they've lost themselves instead.
Please don't be long please don't you be very long
Please don't be long or I may be asleep
Well it only goes to show
And I told them where to go
Ask a policeman on the street
There's so many there to meet
Please don't be long please don't you be very long
Please don't be long or I may be asleep
Now it's past my bed I know
And I'd really like to go
Soon it will be the break of day
Sitting here in Blue Jay Way
Please don't be long please don't you be very long
Please don't be long or I may be asleep
Please don't be long please don't you be very long
Please don't be long Please don't be long please don't you be very long
Please don't be long Please don't be long please don't you be very long
Please don't be long
Don't be long - don't be long - don't be long
Don't be long - don't be long - don't be long

We was a-d-d-d-drivin' d-downtown L.A.,
About a-midnight hour
And it almost b-b-blew my mind,
I got caught in a coloured shower.
All those lights were t-t-twinkling on Sunset,
I saw a sign in the sky
It said, "T-t-t-trip a t-trip, I trip, trip,"
I couldn't keep up up if I tried.
Ah, we stepped down to reality company
To get some instant sleep
And the driver turned, I said, "Welcome back"
He smiled and he said, "Beep beep".
What goes on ? Chick-a-chick.
What goes on ? I really wanna know.
What goes on all around me,
What goes on ? I really wanna know.
When in should come-a my dream woman,
She got sequins in her hair,
Like she stepped out off of a Fellini film,
She sat in a white straw chair
But I thought I'd take a second look
Just to see what I could see
And my scene had popped out like a bubble does,
There was nobody there but me.
I said, "Girl, you drank a lot of drink-me,
But you ain't in a Wonderland
You know I might-a be there to greet you, child,
When your trippin' ship touches sand."
What goes on ? Chick-a-chick.
What goes on ? I really wanna know.
What goes on ? Chick-a-chick.
What goes on ? I really wanna know.
A silver goblet of wine is-a to be
Held in a bejewelled glove
And her knights they toast the tournament,
The falcons they fly above.
And the queen will a drink of the dew tonight
But the jester she cries alone,
Because Merlin he spoke of an instant spell
To make the devil's white knights moan
And-a all in all, the seagull said,
"As I look to where I've been,
The whole wide human race
Has a-taken far too much Methedrine".
What goes on ? Chick-a-chick.
What goes on ? I really wanna know.
What goes on ? So near
What goes on ? I really wanna know.
Yeah well, come on.
We sat in a velvet jewel case
With sparkles everywhere,
And Julian he sat on a diamond ring
And-a talked of the days gone by.
We spoke of a common kaleidoscope
And the pros and the cons of Zen
And he spoke and-a said for a piece of cake
He really did have a yen.
Bobby Dylan he sat "the Mad Hatter",
A broken hour glass in his hand,
And-a Joannie sat in a white lace
Looking cool with a black lace fan.
What goes on ? Chick-a-chick.
What goes on ? I really wanna know.
What goes on ? Yes please tell me.
What goes on ? I really wanna know.

I was trying to answer a question on "Moth" in the philosophy section, and found many songs, and poems on moths. Here is one:

If you open the window, And put on the light...

MILLYMOTH . . .

I'm Milly the Moth,
And I fly at night.
To call me a butterfly,
Would not be right.
If you open the window,
And put on the light,
I might come and see you,
One fine summer's night.

AE, glad someone's looking into that moth-philosophy connection. i've looked at a few philosophy books, but don't recall ever seeing a moth. maybe they're more common in used philosophy books. ;-)

Yitwail, the question really peaked my curiosity, and I had to see if I could find something on the subject. There really is not that much out there or maybe I'm using the wrong word combinations in my search, but I'm trying.

AE, if nothing turns up, we could always ask Manticore for an example of a philosophy book with a moth on the cover. good luck ;-)

That might help, if he/she tells us a little about the content of the book too.

Now I'm looking for the telephone number of my favorite jazz station (cd 101.9) to ask them for the name of a particular cd. Tomorrow I'm going shopping for the Harry potter book, several cds, and maybe gold jewelry.

Good morning WA2K radio folks,

A lot was happening here while I slept, and now it is soooo quiet and such a delight.

Thanks to all for the music and memories.

Loved the turn-arounds on ways to leave lovers and other interesting songs and moth info.

In Virginia, moths in summer were everywhere, especially on a hot summer night. Moths are lovers of wool, but if I recall correctly only live twenty four hours, and were not nearly as delicate and lovely as Angel's picture denotes.

An amusing cartoon that I enjoyed was the picture of the male moth looking at the female moth with a look of surprise saying:

What do you mean not tonight? <smile>

The one rather bleak situation in my life this morning is the realization that I had run out of coffee, so I had to wabash some. Anyone know the origin of that expression?

First a brief explication for Francis:

Summary: The Tale of Two Cities

It is the year 1775. Dickens begins the novel by describing this year with one of the most famous sentences in literature: "It was the best of times, it was the worst of timesŠ" In short, despite the rapturous joy or painful suffering that everyone seems to feel, the time is really no less different than our own. It is filled with people who think "in the superlative degree of comparison only," and who believe that the world is not going to change. The narrator describes the goings-on in England and France. In England, ghost sightings and prophets holding seances are common. Highwaymen by night live as honest tradesmen by day, and thieves run rampant. In France, people are tortured for not paying homage to monks walking fifty yards away, and already there are rumblings of the terrible time that is to come. In short, the kings and queens of both countries rule, while the world of the commoners continues beneath them.

Now, all the loose ends are tied up, I think.

Oh! How I Hate to Get Up In The Morning

MIDI sequencing provided by Melody Lane

"Oh! How I Hate To Get Up In The Morning,
Oh! How I'd love to remain in bed
For the hardest blow of all is to hear the bugler call:
'You've got to get up, you've got to get up,
You've got to get up this morning!'"

Someday I'm going to murder the bugler
Someday they're going to find him dead
I'll amputate his reveille and stomp upon it heavily
And spend the rest of my life in bed!

A bugler in the army is the luckiest of men
He wakes the boys at five and then goes back to bed again
He doesn't have to blow again until the afternoon
If ev'rything goes well with me I'll be a bugler soon!

"Oh! How I Hate To Get Up In The Morning,
Oh! How I'd love to remain in bed
For the hardest blow of all is to hear the bugler call:
'You've got to get up, you've got to get up,
You've got to get up this morning!'"

Oh, boy! The minute the battle is over
Oh, boy! The minute the foe is dead
I'll put my uniform away and move to Philadelphia
And spend the rest of my life in bed!

Good morning, Bob. Did you sing that at your karaoke bash last evening? <smile>

Actually, the lyrics to that song are quite clever, no?

Till the Sun Comes Up Again

Think I'll write a different song
Got a feeling it might take a long time
Singin' it over again, I can't recall just how it used to be
Voices across the sea
Mm, mm, mm.

Will he come to me, to keep me company
Won't know till the sun comes up again

Gotta take the good with the bad
Sometimes I wish I never had my say
Always goes that way, or is it just the way I feel today?
Voices across the way
Mm, mm, mm.

Will he come to me, to keep me company
Won't know till the sun comes up again
Won't know till the sun comes up again
Won't know till the sun comes up again
Won't know till the sun comes up again
Won't know till the sun comes up again
Won't know till the sun comes up again
