Salutations Miss Letty,

I just listened to quite a few songs, all good. Joni James sang Glocca Morra well, nice tribute to George Donald.
Manhattan Transfer and Jimmy Webb were great. Poor Annabelle Lee, she was doomed the minute Poe penned her.

edgar, Love The Fireflies and The Casimo's doing Then You can tell Me Goodbye.

euroGeorge, Thanks for the acknowledge. Love Little Miss Dynamite singing that one.

Hope I Didn't miss any of the songs. If I did, I'll try and listen later.

Today is Morgan Freeman's birthday, and I remember him best for Driving Miss Daisy. Here is the trailer.

Thinking of my Irish friend Mikey today and he is not well, so here are two hymns for him. First, a spititual.

Once again, calling all musicians, poets, and artists.

I stayed up late last night listening to That Irish song and it made me feel better.

Remembering Santa Tomas E Lucas, and he looked a lot like Jim Croce.

And today is Stacy Keach's birthday, and although I liked him best in The Ninth Configuration, I also remember Harlem Nocturne.

and, y'all, our poem for today:

"I Said to Love"

I said to Love,
"It is not now as in old days
When men adored thee and thy ways
All else above;
Named thee the Boy, the Bright, the One
Who spread a heaven beneath the sun,"
I said to Love.

I said to him,
"We now know more of thee than then;
We were but weak in judgment when,
With hearts abrim,
We clamoured thee that thou would'st please
Inflict on us thine agonies,"
I said to him.

I said to Love,
"Thou art not young, thou art not fair,
No faery darts, no cherub air,
Nor swan, nor dove
Are thine; but features pitiless,
And iron daggers of distress,"
I said to Love.

"Depart then, Love! . . .
- Man's race shall end, dost threaten thou?
The age to come the man of now
Know nothing of? -
We fear not such a threat from thee;
We are too old in apathy!
Mankind shall cease.--So let it be,"
I said to Love.

@tsarstepan,
Thank you, Lord tsar, for restoring our signal. Sad about Alice Coltrane death. Didn't know that one by her, so thanks again for the introduction.

Here is her husband doing a great one.

and, y'all, the lyrics.

In a sentimental mood I can see
The stars come through my room
While your loving attitude
Is like a flame that lights the gloom

On the wings of every kiss
Drift a melody so strange and sweet
In this sentimental bliss
You make my paradise complete

Rose petals seem to fall
It's all like a dream to call you mine
My heart's a lighter thing
Since you made me this night a thing divine

In a sentimental mood
I'm within a world so heavenly
For I never dreamt
That you'd be loving sentimental me

that was written by The Duke.

This afternoon must be royalty day on WA2k.

I am not able to comment on everything just now. I will say Eagle Wings is a good song and I like Jim Croce's songs a lot.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks for your comment on Jim and the Irish Eagle Wings, edgar. Don't work too hard, Texas. You don't want to end up like Sam Cooke. Razz

From royalty to Sam. (poor guy)
