@edgarblythe,
Thanks for your comment, edgar, and as you know, I love Fats Waller. Honeysuckle Rose was great.

Well, y'all, this is Thor's day, so I would like to remember Mary Travis:

@Letty,
If I Had a Hammer is a great song, letty.

Today should have been the 69th birthday of Mimi, sister of Joan Baez.

@Letty,
Enjoyed Peter, Paul & Mary, Miss Letty.
They were huge in the 60's, I see they had 3 albums in the top 6 LP billboard the year I was born.
You don't hear much folk music these days, not mainstream anyway, shame.
Great song.

edgar, The poem was Invictus. Check it out on the internet. Loved that one with John Lennon's drawings, also hbg's Gene and Buddy's tribute.

Today is this guy's birthday and he is fabulous.

@edgarblythe,
Love that one by Faron, edgar, and thanks again for your comment.

Hear is the poem of which I spoke:

Invictus

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll.
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.
William Ernest Henley
