@George,
As Buckwheat once said, "Oklahoma is otay."

I watched Jane Mansfield and Tom Ewell, in The Girl Can't Help It, last night. The Platters did this song.

good morning to all - it's almost noon !

today is the birthday of Herbie Hancock : " The Watermelon Man ".

take it away , Herbie !

Quote:
Herbert Jeffrey "Herbie" Hancock (born April 12, 1940) is an American pianist, keyboardist, bandleader and composer.[1] As part of Miles Davis's Second Great Quintet, Hancock helped to redefine the role of a jazz rhythm section and was one of the primary architects of the "post-bop" sound. He was one of the first jazz musicians to embrace music synthesizers and funk music (characterized by syncopated drum beats).

Gotta hear songs from Paul Anka to remind me of those innocent times of late '50s and '60s:

before heading off to lunch , there is one more birthday to celebrate : Joseph Lanner

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXmJFQ-6iiA

Quote:
Joseph Lanner (12 April 1801 – 14 April 1843) was an Austrian dance music composer.[1] He is best remembered as one of the earliest Viennese composers to reform the waltz from a simple peasant dance to something that even the highest society could enjoy, either as an accompaniment to the dance, or for the music's own sake. He was just as famous as his friend and musical rival Johann Strauss I, who was better known outside of Austria in their day because of his concert tours abroad, in particular, to France and England.

Pushman, Hope you don't have shingles. I had chicken pox when I was three years old and I never have had shingles. Love this funny statement:

Men never make passes at girls who wear glasses.
Girls who wear spectacles quit often get their neck tickled.

Another memory from New York. We Saw and heard George at the Embers:

"...have you ever heard two turtle doves; bill and coo when they love."

I sent two turtle doves to the yitwails.

herr hbg, I love Herbie's Watermelon Man.
