Trying2Learn, Welcome back. Hope you're feeling better, and I love Phil Collins' Paradise.

edgar, Thanks for your comment and The Beatles doing She's Leaving Home was good. Loved Dennis Day's song as well.

izz with a y. My favorite two of yours was Really...etc. Funny one. Dirty Lodger was funny as well.

Hope I didn't miss anyone.

This poem brings back a memory of a terrible situation. Some odd storm blew down here and sea birds were crashing into my window.

All Day I Hear the Noise of Waters

All day I hear the noise of waters
Making moan,
Sad as the sea-bird is when, going
Forth alone,
He hears the winds cry to the water's
Monotone.

The grey winds, the cold winds are blowing
Where I go.
I hear the noise of many waters
Far below.
All day, all night, I hear them flowing
To and fro.
James Joyce

@Letty,
Yes I did. A lot of preparation went into Ireland's entry for Eurovision.

I think this is about the Jewish people. A bit dark, I know, but hey, it's a French song... ;-)

Bertrand Betsch - Les Vents Contraires --- Head Winds
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSDYMRVPkdw

Nous avons affronté les vents contraires --- We’ve faced the headwinds
--- We’ve rubbed against the strokes of madmen, and yet...

Nous sommes toujours debout --- We are still standing
Nous sommes encore debout --- We are standing, still
Et nous tenons le coup. --- And we hold fast.

Nous avons reçu des jets de pierres --- We’ve been thrown stones
Nous nous sommes battus contre la terre entière --- We’ve fought against the whole world
Nous avons perdu tous nos soldats --- We lost all our soldiers
--- We even lost the will to fight, and yet...

Nous sommes toujours debout etc. --- We are still standing etc.

Nous avons rampé sous des nuits gelées --- We crawled under frozen nights
Les pluies ont rongé nos yeux délavés --- The rains have gnawed at our faded eyes
Nous avons traversé le pont des noyés --- We crossed the bridge of the drowned
--- Rabid dreams have torn us apart, and yet...

Nous sommes toujours debout etc. --- We are still standing etc.

Nous avons couru jusqu'à perdre nos pas --- We ran until we lost our steps
Nous n'avons jamais su prendre le bon train --- We’ve never been able to catch the right train
We never thought we had a choice
--- We became screams in the distance, and yet...

Nous sommes toujours debout etc. --- We are still standing etc.

edgar, thanks for your comment, and The Kingston Trio doing Seasons in the Sun, was great, but sad.

pushman, My Lovely Horse gave me a smile. When I was little, I called the clinic a horsespital.

Olivier5 , Welcome back. That song was a bit sad as well, and thanks for the translation.

Going to say goodnight with two songs. First, Post Cards from the Edge entered my mind. So here is Eddy Fisher:

Also thinking of euroGeorge who lived in Dublin Ireland.

Wonderful having our British friend with us. Also good to have France here.

From Letty with love to all of you

Well, I said goodnight and now it's good morning.

Thinking of my friend Santa Tomas e Lucas. He looked a lot like Jim Croce and died of PD.

For you Dan:

Judy Collins
Thinking of Leonard this morning, as I am on tour singing my new song from Judy Collins Live in Ireland, which comes out on March 18 for Amazon and all music stores, and is going to be on PBS starting March 1 in New York on Channell 13 and all over the country thereafter=--"New Moon Over the Hudson", about my Irish Roots, is my most recent song, and it is here because Leonard asked me, after I had recorded (many!!) of his songs, why I was not writing my own? Thank you, Leonard. thank you for the music, the inspiration, your friendship and support and the beauty of your life and work. Love, Judy

letty, I listened to Eddy and your other song last night. Jim's song this morning shows what a great artist we lost.

@edgarblythe,
and thank you, edgar, for restoring our signal. As you know, I love both Leonard and Judy, especially her song Both Sides Now.

Interesting, y'all. Here are two versions of "song of love".

First, The Fontane Sisters:

Now, Andrew Rieu:

@Letty,
I liked both versions, Letty, but my favorite is still Edith Piaf's.

Here's a guy I haven't heard in a while.
