I posted this on another thread, and it's still going round my head. A lovely bunch of lads originally from Southampton, last known hanging out in Shepherds Bush. I'm proud to say I've whiled away a few hours sharing beers with them.

Good morning from here in our Florida radio station.

edgar, thank you for helping us restore our two songs. I was surprised to find out that Phil Collins was British, and that his song was written as the result of a failing marriage.

Dutchy, it is so good to see you back with us. We all appreciate your comment on Andre and Dancing Shadows by Amy was marvelous along with that fantastic photo of the Coffee House.

hbg, I think you know how much I love Strauss and Rico's Polka was great

Welcome back to you as well, pushman, you, of course, meant PLAY. The Men They Couldn't Hang by Colours was great. Too bad they couldn't save Tom Dooley, however.

Today is this guy's birthday, and here is a tribute to him. The classical music in the background may be by Tchaikovsky, but I'm not certain.

well, edgar. your Jester song reminded me of The Mills Brothers' Java Jive.

"I like coffee nice and hot; woops Mr. Moto I'm a coffee pot. Show me the pot and I'll pour me a shot; a cuppa cuppa, cuppa, cup, boy.

Today is Earl Hines Birthday. Just found out that he played at Birdland.

Here's a tribute to the man.

Tai Chi, thanks again for your comments. Miss your brother as well. He named me program director of WA2K radio.

I remember Jose Greco doing the the flemeca dance and it reminded me of these lovely birds. First, the birds who my Dave said gained their color from eating shrimp.

Quote:
Willie James Humphrey (December 29, 1900 – June 7, 1994) was a New Orleans jazz clarinetist. Willie Humphrey was born in a musical family, the son of prominent local clarinetist and music teacher Willie Eli Humphrey; his brothers Earl Humphrey and Percy Humphrey also became well known professional musicians.

After establishing himself with such New Orleans bands as the Excelsior and George McCullum's band, Humphrey traveled up north, playing with such other New Orleans musicians as Lawrence Duhé, and King Oliver in Chicago (Photos show Humphrey with Duhé's band playing in the stands for the infamous 1919 World Series). In Saint Louis, Missouri in the 1920s he made his first recordings.

Back in New Orleans, he played for many years with the Eureka and Young Tuxedo Brass bands, the bands of Paul Barbarin and Sweet Emma Barrett, and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band.
