@edgarblythe,
Well, edgar, my reply to your Captain and Tennile and Pat Boone didn't work.

It was Grand Funk Railroad doing Ride Captain Ride upon Your Clipper Ship.

Going to say goodnight now with a wonderful song.

bump bump (hope this works, y'all)

Incidentally, y'all. Those lonely teardrops were for my oldest sister who died yesterday.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas Day.

edgar, I love that one by John Lennon. I have often wondered had he been deported, he might be alive today.

"The final frontier: the imagination of the human mind"

Welcome back to you as well, Morgan. Love that one by Barbra. I have to admire that lady for refusing to get her nose bobbed. Never did quite understand what she meant by people who need people, however. Incidentally, that song I'll be Home for Christmas was for the military who wanted to be home at christmas time. Hope Mark is alright as he shares the same name as my next door neighbor who just brought us a great present.

Today is this guys birthday. I don't know him, but I just found out that he was married to Cyd Charisse.

Rockhead, I'm glad we still friends.

Beth, My Beth is still here with me. Love that song. and another memory jog. I remember Tony Martin, because my older sister reminded me of Domino. (that's what I named my last dog)

My beth also reminded me that when all of us were together, we sang this one.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks again for you comment on both of my songs and always like your personal acknowledgement.

That Christmas Dream by Hank Rivers was beautiful, especially the visuals.

Going to say goodnight now with a man that I do no know so first, some info.

Donny Edward Hathaway (October 1, 1945 – January 13, 1979) was an American jazz, blues, soul, and gospel vocalist and musician. Hathaway contracted with Atlantic Records in 1969 and with his first single for the Atco label, "The Ghetto, Part I" in early 1970, Rolling Stone magazine "marked him as a major new force in soul music".

His collaborations with Roberta Flack scored high on the charts and won him the Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals for the duet, "Where Is the Love" in 1973.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks again for your comment and personal acknowledgement, edgar. Good one by Louis. I never hear him that I don't think of Keely.

Well, we all know about this man, and here is his poem followed by the music. I used to stand on Afton Mountain in Virginia and look down at the vast valley.

First, the poem.

Afton Water
By Robert Burns

Flow gently, sweet Afton, among thy green braes,
Flow gently, I'll sing thee a song in thy praise;
My Mary's asleep by thy murmuring stream,
Flow gently, sweet Afton, disturb not her dream.

Thou stock-dove, whose echo resounds thro' the glen,
Ye wild whistling blackbirds in yon thorny den,
Thou green-crested lapwing, thy screaming forbear,
I charge you disturb not my slumbering fair.

How lofty, sweet Afton, thy neighbouring hills,
Far mark'd with the courses of clear winding rills;
There daily I wander as noon rises high,
My flocks and my Mary's sweet cot in my eye.

How pleasant thy banks and green valleys below,
Where wild in the woodlands the primroses blow;
There oft, as mild Ev'ning sweeps over the lea,
The sweet-scented birk shades my Mary and me.

Thy crystal stream, Afton, how lovely it glides,
And winds by the cot where my Mary resides,
How wanton thy waters her snowy feet lave,
As gathering sweet flowrets she stems thy clear wave.

Flow gently, sweet Afton, among thy green braes,
Flow gently, sweet river, the theme of my lays;
My Mary's asleep by thy murmuring stream,
Flow gently, sweet Afton, disturb not her dream.

Now, the song.
