@Letty,

Hey, Pushman, you sent me searching again.

"Merry Xmas Everybody" is a 1973 song by the English rock band Slade.

It's probably the Christmas song this side of the pond, played every year. What's made it so popular is because it's about ordinary people. Noddy Holder says that so many people have spoken to him about the line.

Does your Granny always tell ya that the old songs are the best, then she's up and rock 'n rolling with the rest?

They all say that they know an old woman just like that.

Here's another Christmas hit that probably never made it across the pond. Just as well really, don't say you weren't warned.

welcome back pushman and bump boy. More synchronicity because I told Izzyman that those cute Merry ChrisWomblies looked like a possum.

I see the possum, so let's try George Jones again. If it plays twice, it's worth.

the last thing my daddy said to me was "Quit grinnin' at me like a Possum."

here is Wilf Carter one more time with the " Blue Canadian Rockies " .

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n90KkM2XVHw

Quote:
Carter was born in Port Hilford, Nova Scotia, Canada. One of nine children, he began working odd jobs by the age of eight in Canning, Nova Scotia. He began singing after seeing a traveling Swiss performer named "The Yodelling Fool" in Canning. Carter left home at the age of 15 after a falling out with his father, who was a Baptist minister.[1][2]

In 1923, after working as a lumberjack and singing with hobos in boxcars, Carter moved west to Calgary, Alberta, where he found work as a cowboy. He made extra money singing and playing his guitar at dances, performing for tourist parties, and traveling throughout the Canadian Rockies.[2] It was during this time that he developed his own yodelling style, sometimes called an "echo yodel" or a "three-in-one."
.........................................................................
In 1949, Carter resumed live performances with tours in Canada and the United States. In 1950, he attracted over 50,000 people during a week at the Canadian National Exhibition bandstand in Toronto.

hbg, I loved your Beaver song, and laughed at the double entendre. Razz

Welcome back, McTag. Shirley doing Clap Your Hands was a goodie, too. Really enjoyed The Blind Boys of Alabama doing that great spiritual.

Well, y'all, today is Thors Day, so let's do a couple of hammer songs.

First, M.C.

Now, legendary John Henry.

Actually, John Henry was a steel drivin' man.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, Thanks for your comment and personal acknowledgement. Loved that Soldier by Harry.

Two versions of the same song. I learned about Edith from a Canadian man.

First, the original.
