Trying to Learn, missed your song, but it was a good one.

McTag, I know Witch Doctor but not the composer. Welcome back. Wonder how many Brits know Dickey Lee?

I like the chord changes on this one, and it reminds me of halloween.

I like early rock as well as any music I know. That version of Witch Doctor is not substantially different than the original, by David Seville. Seville went on to create the Chipmunks, Theodore, Simon and ALVIN!

Dickie Lee was a pretty good artist. I think Patches was the name of his biggest song.

@edgarblythe,
Love that one by "the jestr", edgar. Here's one to match.

I'm sure McTag will say, "Thank you, Miss Letty." Razz and Alex will say, "thank you Letty.

First one I heard by Carly and I played it on the piano and sang it, too.

good night / good morning - and happy birthday to Yves Montand :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B691ciqDMpE

Quote:
Montand went on to international recognition as a singer and actor, starring in numerous films. His recognizably crooner songs, especially those about Paris, became instant classics. He was one of the most famous performers at Bruno Coquatrix's famous Paris Olympia music hall, and toured with musicians including Didi Duprat.[citation needed]

In 1951, he married Simone Signoret, and they co-starred in several films throughout their careers. The marriage was, by all accounts, fairly harmonious, lasting until her death in 1985, although Montand had a number of well-publicized affairs, notably with Marilyn Monroe, with whom he starred in one of her last films, Let's Make Love. During his career, Montand acted in a number of American motion pictures as well as on Broadway. He was nominated for a César Award for "Best Actor" in 1980 for I comme Icare and again in 1984 for Garçon! In 1986, after his international box-office draw power had fallen off considerably, the 65-year-old Montand gave one of his most memorable performances, as the scheming uncle in the two-part film: Jean de Florette, co-starring Gérard Depardieu, and Manon des Sources, co-starring Emmanuelle Béart. The film was a worldwide critical hit and raised Montand's profile in the US, where he made an appearance on Late Night with David Letterman. [4]

@hamburgboy,
Quote:
One of the pillars of Arab music, Wadih al-Safi, has died at the age of 92 in a hospital in Lebanon.

The singer was at the forefront of a movement that made Lebanese music hugely popular in the region.

Often referred to as the "voice of Lebanon", Mr Safi was one of the big names in what was seen as a golden age of Arab music.

Since his death was announced, many have paid tribute to what they describe as a musical legend.

Mr Safi was with his son when he was taken ill on Friday, and later died in hospital.

Not exactly my cup of tea, but here he is in his heyday. RIP Safi.

edgar, Loved Early in the Morning. Thanks for your comments, too.

hbg, Love that one by Yves.

Today is this great jazz man's birthday.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I3aGWGlxvUQ

and, y'all, the lyrics.

You are the promised kiss of springtime
That makes the lonely winter seem long
You are the breathless hush of evening
That trembles on the brink of a lovely song

You are the angel glow that lights the star
The dearest things that I know are what you are
Someday my happy arms will hold you
And someday I'll know that moment divine
When all the things you are, are mine

You are the angel glow that lights the star
The dearest things that I know are what you are
Someday my happy arms will hold you
And someday I'll know that moment divine
When all the things you are, are mine
