Well, Region, it looks a though being skinny isn't as popular as I thought. "...alone again, naturally.."

Hope our edgar is alright.

Saying goodnight with two songs.

First it's this guy's birthday, and he played in The Brothers Grimm

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3QkwDld1d4

Now, in anticipation of Halloween.

Ghost Riders.

Well, at least my Beth is here, and we celebrated her birthday.

From Letty with love to everyone; even the missing. Razz

I like Vaughn Monroe's cover of Burl Ives' Ghost Riders letty. I think I saw the Grimm brothers movie. I have some albums of the Mills Brothers.
Here is the first version I heard of Unchained Melody, from 1958.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks for restoring our signal, edgar. Love Unchained Melody by Harry. Thanks once again for your comments.

Thinking of Edgar Allen Poe today. First, some info.

The home at 203 Amity Street had fallen on hard times: previously a city-funded museum, the unassuming row house was shuttered in 2012 after the city of Baltimore decided it couldn’t afford to fund it. That the home still stood at all owed a debt to its famous former inhabitant, whose reputation had helped save it from the wrecking ball decades prior. Last year’s cash crunch at Edgar Allan Poe House was the sort of predicament the home’s namesake would have known well.

I remember him best for his bedroom at UVA

Joan sings one of my favorite poems by him.

@edgarblythe,
I didn't know that song by Ringo, edgar. I vaguely remember him as a Caveman. It was a bit too raunchy to play here, however.

Still think about the house named after a swan because Swans mate for life. It's now closed to the public but is still atop Afton Mountain.

Let's listen to this by Yo Yo Ma.

@Letty,
good evening msletty , ed and all other listeners to WA2K Radio !

here is another version of Glow-worm by Paul Lincke :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPmab3PdON8

Quote:
"Das Glühwürmchen", known in English as "The Glow-Worm", is a song from Paul Lincke's 1902 operetta Lysistrata, with German lyrics by Heinz Bolten-Backers. In the operetta, it is performed as a trio with three female solo voices singing alternately and the women's chorus joining in the refrain. Rhythmically, it is in the form of a gavotte.[1] The song, with its familiar chorus, was translated into English and became an American popular song.

It was originally translated into English by Lilla Cayley Robinson, in the early 20th century, and was used in the 1907 Broadway musical The Girl Behind The Counter.[2]

American lyricist Johnny Mercer later expanded and greatly revised Robinson's lyrics, for the 1952 recording by the Mills Brothers.[3] His version was a hit for the Mills Brothers, and it has been performed by several others.

here one of Paul Lincke's popular marches :

The Folies Bergere March - played by the band of the Berlin Police Department

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NolrKnG4pLE

Quote:
The Folies Bergère (French pronunciation: [fɔ.li bɛʁ.ʒɛʁ]) is a cabaret music hall, located in Paris, France.

Established in 1869, the house was at the height of its fame and popularity from the 1890s' Belle Époque through the 1920s' Années folles. The institution is still in business, and is always a strong symbol of French and Parisian life.

Good morning, to all of our listeners. Herr hbg, I particularly enjoyed the original version of Firefly, and here is Bette Midler to sing the original version of Glow Worm. Thanks again for your personal acknowledgement.
