another multi-talented artist has his birthday today :

Quote:
James Layne "Jimmy" Webb[1] (born August 15, 1946) is an American songwriter, composer, and singer. He has written numerous platinum-selling classics, including "Up, Up and Away", "By the Time I Get to Phoenix", "Wichita Lineman", "Galveston", "The Worst That Could Happen", "All I Know", and "MacArthur Park".[2] His songs have been performed by many popular contemporary singers, including Glen Campbell, The 5th Dimension, Thelma Houston, The Supremes, Richard Harris, Johnny Maestro, Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Isaac Hayes, Art Garfunkel, Amy Grant, America, Linda Ronstadt, R.E.M., Michael Feinstein, Donna Summer, Barbra Streisand, Sammy Davis Jr.,and Carly Simon. According to BMI, his song "By the Time I Get to Phoenix" was the third most performed song in the fifty years between 1940 and 1990.[3] Webb is the only artist ever to have received Grammy Awards for music, lyrics, and orchestration.

MacArtur Park

( a great composition - a fine conductor - fine musicians = wonderful entertainment )

@hamburgboy,
hbg, don't you think your Oscar should get an oscar. Razz

Love Canadian Sunset, of course.

Here's another Osca, Ontario.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w04k24s2mfY

and the lyrics to the first part.

Tonight we love while the moon
Beams down in dream light tonight
We touch the stars
Love is ours
Night winds that sigh
Embrace the sky
Tonight we love in the glow
That glows so softly I know
This wasn't meant to borrow but tomorrow
Will it be gone
Or will it always live on
Tonight

Thanks for restoring our signal

edgar, when I first heard that song, I shivered thinking that I was under that floor. Had no idea that Brook did it.

hbg, John Williams doing the theme to Schindler's List was great.

How about some more walking, y'all

don't know that one by LeRoy, edgar. Thanks for responding. Missed your contribution, hbg. Will acknowledge tomorrow

Thinking about the problems with my right eye, I decided to play this one as a goodnight song.

hbg, I love Corina Corina by that Dutch band as well as Carol's version of You Light up Mife.

edgar, Had no idea that Bobby did I'm Beginning to See the Light. I knew it best by Ella and sang it in the fifth grade. Loved Della Rees doing Don't You Know.

Here's more synchronicity because today is her birthday and we'll dedicate this one to edgar.

I loved Anne Blyth before I knew anything about her. When I was a kid. Mother's Cookies issued trading cards of movie stars - one to a package. I was taken with her face and name and her card became my favorite. Next to hers I admired Robert Newton's card.
