So nice to see so many different countries with us today. Wish I could acknowledge each one, but suffice it to say I love them all.

We don't want to miss this poet's birthday.

another musical birthday today ;

Quote:
Frankie Ford (born August 4, 1939) is an American rock and roll and rhythm and blues singer.

He is the adopted son of Vincent and Anna Guzzo, who named him Francis Guzzo. He was born in Gretna, Louisiana, across the Mississippi River from New Orleans, where he still lives. Ford had a Top 20 hit in 1959 with "Sea Cruise" (b/w "Roberta"), sung to a previously recorded Huey "Piano" Smith backing track, released on Ace Records. The record sold over one million copies, gaining gold disc status.[1]

He was known as the "New Orleans Dynamo", and still spends about 200 days a year on the road.

On May 16, 2010, at the Louisiana Music Homecoming in Erwinville, Ford was inducted into The Louisiana Music Hall of Fame.

now ... let's hear from the ladies !

Quote:
Joan Hinde plays a medley of classical trumpet showpieces in the Max Bygraves Christmas Show. Joan has been appearing on TV and radio since the 1940's and is still working on the variety circuit at full strength. She was the Alison Balsom of her day, but always had a more varied and entertaining repertoire on top of her well-executed and technically masterful classical pieces.

Do your very besto
Don't hang back like a shy little kid
You'll be so glad that you did what you did
If you do it with a Bing Bang Bong (A Bing Bang Bong)
A Bing Bang Bong

Be like Cristobal Columbo
Take a chance, take a chance

edgar, Loved Ray's You Are My Sunshine.

hbg, love all your goodnight songs.

Lyrics to Piano Roll Blues

I wanna hear it again, I wanna hear it again, The Old Piano Roll Blues. We're sittin' at an upright, my sweetie and me, Pushin' on the pedals makin' sweet harmony. When we hear rinkety-tink, and we hear Plinkety-plink We cuddle closer it seems. And while we kiss kiss, kiss, kiss, away all our cares, The player piano's playing razz-a-ma-tazz. I wanna hear it again, I wanna hear it again, The Old Piano Roll Blues.

But We, Played the Piano Roll Blues We sat there and began to play My sweetie and me We sat there pushing on the pedals making sweet harmony But we, cuddle closer it seems It seems just like a dreamin' While we kiss, kiss, kiss, our cares all away The player piano's playing razz-a-ma-tazz. But we, wanna hear it again Those Piano Roll Blues

I wanna hear it again, I wanna hear it again, The Old Piano Roll Blues. The Old Piano Roll Blues. We sat there and began to play We're sittin' at an upright, my sweetie and me, We sat there pushin' on the pedals makin' sweet harmony. When we hear rinkety-tink, and we hear Plinkety-plink We cuddle closer it seems. Cuddle closer it seems Its like a dreamin while we kiss kiss kiss away all our cares. The player piano's playing razz-a-ma-tazz.

I wanna hear it again, just hear it again The Old Piano Roll Blues The Old Piano Roll blues The Old Piano Roll blues

and Joan's Mozart, of course.

Didn't Del Wood also do Down Yonder?

Your good morning song was a goodie as well. Thanks for all the info, Ontario.

good afternoon msletty , ed and all Listeners to WA2K Radio !

on this day in 1973 a group of ladies got together to form the musical group

" Sweet Honey in the Rock " ( and indeed , they make some very sweet music !

Quote:
Sweet Honey in the Rock was founded in 1973 by Bernice Johnson Reagon, who was teaching a vocal workshop with the Washington, D.C. Black Repertory Company.[1] Reagon retired from the group in 2004.

The name of the group was derived from a song, based on Psalm 81:16, which tells of a land so rich that when rocks were cracked open, honey flowed from them.

Johnson has said that this first song in which four women blended their voices was so powerful, that there was no question what the name of the group should be. The ensemble's most powerful messages are proclaimed through an enormous catalog of songs addressing the world's woes. They are currently occupied with immigration injustices, congressional greed and lack of compassion for hurting citizens, the environmental imbalance, racial issues and women's issues.
