good morning msletty , ed , mctag and all other listeners !

today is the birthday of a great entertainer and singer :

Quote:
Liza May Minnelli (born March 12, 1946) is an American actress and singer. She is the daughter of singer and actress Judy Garland and film director Vincente Minnelli.

Already established as a nightclub singer and musical theatre actress, she first attracted critical acclaim for her dramatic performances in the movies The Sterile Cuckoo (1969), and Tell Me That You Love Me, Junie Moon (1970); Minnelli then rose to international stardom for her appearance as Sally Bowles in the 1972 film version of the Broadway musical Cabaret, for which she won the Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role. She later co-starred in Arthur (1981), starring with Dudley Moore (in the title role) and Sir John Gielgud, who won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor as Arthur's snobbish but loveable butler

hbg, I knew most of those jazz performers and their songs. Never heard Liza with a z do Twist Me when I'm Sober. Remember her best for Come to the Cabaret. Love Caravan by "the duke".

Welcome back McTag. Love Midnight at the Oasis.

edgar, Great one by Ray and those Brothers. When I was a kid, I always thought that carry meant to pick up someone and later learned that it meant "take".

Sorry that I'm late arriving at our studio. Dogs were being harmonious last evening and kept me awake.

Today is James Taylor's birthday, and I still love that guy.

Here's a tribute to him by one fine vocalist.

Here is a tribute to Carl Perkins, with Paul McCartney.

@Letty,
Actually, Elvis did Carl. Carl wrote and performed Blue Suede Shoes first and some of the Beatles songs were written by Carl.

Here's a Beatles song as done by the Ramsey Lewis trio.

Al is one of those singers I think is okay, but I'm not crazy over him.
And I Love Her is the song that made me take notice of the Beatles.

hbg, I know Rule Britannia. I lived in Virginia. I just noticed Winston Churchill's bulldog. A Hunting We Will Go was a goodie, too.

edgar, Thanks for your comment on Al. I didn't know that one by "the jester", but it was good. Here's one to match.

That was inspired by our Ursula when I warned her about The Ganges. She told me that she know about about the sacred river and said, "I'm a Big Girl Now.

Don't know those kids doing Why Do Fools Fall in Love, but I do know Frankie Laine, edgar. I need to speak with our editors about those mistakes that I made on our transcript.

well, we talked about the jester, and here's the man from whom he stole the crown.
