Freddy Cannon's Tallahassee Lassie was great, edgar. Odd, I knew a Freddy Cannon in Virginia Beach.RIP

Well, I could do someone's in the kitchen with Dinah, but instead here is a wonderful song but the lady had a sad ending.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks again for your comment, edgar, and What a Wonderful World by "sachmo" is great.

Well, folks, it's morning here in our studio, so here are two birthday folks.

Some things simply do NOT need translating. First some info on this guy's birthday.

Dembo was born on 6 February 1959 in Chivi, in Masvingo province of Zimbabwe. His ancestral origins of his Karanga tribe,which is the largest tribe in Zimbabwe, is Masvingo—Where anyday one visits the local stores in the province, can only hear Leonard Dembo's music being played. The real name of Leonard Dembo is Kwangwari Gwaindepi. The early childhood of Leonard Dembo is not fully documented. However, from his relatives, Leonard Dembo is believed to have grown up without his father, an experience he later on reflected in his song writing, particularly in such songs as Nhamo Moto and Nhamo Iya ndakura Nayo. He attended primary school initially in Buhera, and later in Bulawayo, and also in Chembira School, Harare. He did not attend secondary school. On completing primary school he returned to Bulawayo looking for work.

Now, the song.

good morning letty , ed and all listeners to WA2K Radio !

some great musicians have a birthday today .

first let's hear from Claudio Arrau - one of the great pianists of his time :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mVnBZTwXwwM

Quote:
Claudio Arrau León (February 6, 1903 – June 9, 1991) was a Chilean pianist known for his interpretations of a vast repertoire spanning from the baroque to 20th-century composers, especially Beethoven, Schubert, Chopin, Schumann, Liszt and Brahms. He is widely considered one of the greatest pianists of the twentieth century.
.....................................................................................
His ancestor Lorenzo de Arrau, a Spanish engineer, was sent to Chile by King Carlos III of Spain. Through his great-grandmother, María del Carmen Daroch del Solar, Arrau was a descendant of the Campbells of Glenorchy, a Scottish noble family.

Arrau was a child prodigy, giving his first concert at age five. When he was 6 he auditioned in front of several congressmen and President Pedro Montt, who became so impressed as to start arrangements for his future education. At age 8 he was sent on a 10-year long grant from the Chilean government to study in Germany, travelling in the company of his mother and sister Lucrecia.

He was admitted at the Stern Conservatory of Berlin where he eventually became a pupil of Martin Krause, who had studied under Franz Liszt. At the age of 11 he could play Liszt's Transcendental Etudes, considered to be one of the most difficult sets of works ever written for the piano, and also Brahms's Paganini Variations. Arrau's first recordings were made on Aeolian Duo-Art player piano music rolls. Krause died after five years of teaching Arrau, who at fifteen was devastated at the loss of his mentor.[

a " slightly" different musician was Bob Marley - who sings :

" Don't worry be happy " for us .

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oo4OnQpwjkc

Quote:
Nesta Robert Marley, OM (6 February 1945 – 11 May 1981), more widely and commonly known as Bob Marley, was a Jamaican singer-songwriter and musician. He was the rhythm guitarist and lead singer for the ska, rocksteady and reggae bands The Wailers (1963-1974) and Bob Marley & The Wailers (1974–1981). Marley remains the most widely known and revered performer of reggae music, and is credited with helping spread both Jamaican music and the Rastafari movement to a worldwide audience.[1]

Marley's music was heavily influenced by the social issues of his homeland, and he is considered to have given voice to the specific political and cultural nexus of Jamaica.[2] His best-known hits include "I Shot the Sheriff", "No Woman, No Cry", "Could You Be Loved", "Stir It Up", "Get Up Stand Up", "Jamming", "Redemption Song", "One Love" and, "Three Little Birds",[3] as well as the posthumous releases "Buffalo Soldier" and "Iron Lion Zion".

The compilation album Legend (1984), released three years after his death, is reggae's best-selling album, going ten times Platinum which is also known as one Diamond in the U.S.,[4] and selling 25 million copies worldwide.

@hamburgboy,
Welcome back, hbg. First allow me to say that My Dreams of Love by Litz was fabulous, as was the pianist.

I remember Bob Marley's Don't worry Be Happy. Natalie doing Everlasting Love was great.

For some reason, your Litz song reminded me of this one.

and the English vocal by Nelson Eddy. (Setanta loves him. Razz )

... Wink ... Smile ... Very Happy ...

translation
Quote:
My songs beckon softly
through the night to you;
below in the quiet grove,
Come to me, beloved!

The rustle of slender leaf tips whispers
in the moonlight;
Do not fear the evil spying
of the betrayer, my dear.

Do you hear the nightingales call?
Ah, they beckon to you,
With the sweet sound of their singing
they beckon to you for me.

They understand the heart's longing,
know the pain of love,
They calm each tender heart
with their silver tones.

Let them also stir within your breast,
beloved, hear me!
Trembling I wait for you,
Come, please me!

@edgarblythe,
Me, too, edgar. Wow! I just did some research on Herb Jeffries. Love Basin Street Blues. I found out that the man did Flemingo with the Duke. He was good.

Here's an instrumental version by Herb...
