Hurry back, edgar.

hbg, I know "I'll Be Loving You Always". You're funny. Love Nola and Suzy's Someday Soon.

Barry, Sorry It's New Year's Eve already here. Like that one by Ella, however.

So, The Puerto Rican is making breakfast, Morgan? Great one by Cher.

Inspired by McTag.

Ye Pow'rs, wha mak mankind your care,
And dish them out their bill o' fare,
Auld Scotland wants nae skinking ware
That jaups in luggies;
But, if ye wish her gratefu' prayer
Gie her a haggis!

Three songs for the morning here.

First, a lovely Canadian going a London song. (Julie, of course)

Diana Krall.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks again for your comments on what we play here.

Lena Horne did Wouldn't It Be Lovely? That's a shocker.

This really surprised me, yawl.

Rex Harrison wanted Julie Andrews for the role of Eliza, since they had played together in the Broadway version. He was concerned that Audrey Hepburn, whose mother was a Dutch baroness, would not be able to play a "guttersnipe" effectively. I thought Audrey was cockney.

Thinking of this one when I awakened this morning.

Lena recorded Loverly a number of times. There is a better version of it by her, but I did not find it right off.

I learned to love Tramp by Ramblin Jack Elliot. Joan does it very well too.

Regina Spektor - My Dear Acquaintance.

My dear acquaintance it's so good to know you
The strength of your hand that is loving and giving
And happy new year with love overflowing
With joy in our hearts for the blessed new year

Raise your glass and we'll have a cheer
For us all who are gathered here
And a happy new year to all that is living
To all that is gentle kind and forgiving
Raise your glass and we'll have a cheer
My dear acquaintance a happy new year

All of those who are hither and yonder
With love in our hearts we grow fonder and fonder
Hail to those whom we hold so dear
And hail to those who are gathered here
And a happy new year to all that is living
To all that is gentle young and forgiving
Raise your glass and we'll have a cheer
My dear acquaintance a happy new year

Happy New Year

good afternoon msletty , ed and all !

here is an appropriate " Song of the Season " : " Let it snow ... Wink " .

( it's been snowing here since FRIDAY Shocked Shocked ... Rolling Eyes ... )

the song was composed by Jule Styne - who just happens to have have his
birthday today .

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hk71LhzM6E4

Quote:
Jule Styne (December 31, 1905 – September 20, 1994) was a British-born American songwriter especially famous for a series of Broadway musicals, which included several very well known and frequently revived shows.
..........
In 1947, Styne wrote his first score for a Broadway musical, High Button Shoes with Cahn, and over the next several decades wrote the scores for many Broadway shows, most notably Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Peter Pan (additional music), Bells Are Ringing, Gypsy, Do Re Mi, Funny Girl, Sugar (with a story based on the movie Some Like It Hot, but all new music), and the Tony-winning Hallelujah, Baby!.

we don't want to forget the birthday of Donna Summer

( here singing at a concert for Nobel Prize Winners in Oslo ) :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIhnMas6hoo

Quote:
Donna Summer (née LaDonna Adrian Gaines) (December 31, 1948 – May 17, 2012)[1] was an American singer and songwriter who gained prominence during the disco era of the late 1970s. A five-time Grammy Award winner, Summer was the first artist to have three consecutive double albums reach number one on the United States Billboard chart, and she also charted four number-one singles in the United States within a 13-month period.

Thanks to all of your for the great music.

hbg, I particularly appreciated you addressing me by name. Thanks, edgar, for your comments.

My way of thanking you all is to give you a thumbs up. Sorry that I cannot acknowledge each one, but I am getting ready to go out with the kid for a New Years Eve celebration.
