You know, Jes. I don't quite understand the portal, but I am appreciative of the work that must go in to it. I responded to dlowan once about the types of poetry.

Listeners, a song posted so long ago for someone I used to know:

When you're all alone and blue,
No one to tell your troubles to,
Remember me, I'm the one who loves you.

When this world has let you down,
Not a true friend can be found.
Remember me,
I'm the one, who loves you.

(bridge)
and through all kinds of weather,
You'll find I'll never change,
Through the sunshine and the shadows,
I'll always be the same.

We're together right or wrong,
Where you go I'll tag along.
Remember me, I'm the one,
Who loves you.

Oh, my.
Just made myself cry.

Good evening. If yall have some spare time tonight or tomorrow, I suggest you do a Google search for the great Welsh poet: Dylan Thomas.
The third entry, I believe, will lead you to his works and biography by "big eye." Scroll down through that to "A Child's Christmas in Wales" and read it, preferably aloud even if it is only to an audience of one. It is long so I won't post it here but, god, it is a fine piece of writing: funny, sad, exuberant and melancholic. But you really have to read it aloud to appreciate it. "There are wolves in Wales." -rjb-

Ah, John of Virginia, I know Dylan. Jimmy Carter tried to get him buried in Westminster Abbey. Didn't I tell you that?

My sister's advisor used to pub with him.

You know, listeners. I never saw "Go Not Gentle into that Good Night" as a poem about fighting death. I have come to change a wee bit in my thinking.

When you're all alone and blue
And the world looks down on you
Turn around
I'll be following you
When you feel that love won't last
And you'd like to live the past
Turn around
I'll be following you
Turn around
I'll be walking behind you
With a love that's real
And never ever lies
When you're in my arms again
There will never be an end
Turn around
I'll be following you

edgar, was that yours? Great!

Thanks to the miracle of modern science, we are able to put WA2K radio on automatic pilot.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday to all our listeners

Please listen to the portal songs and enjoy your day.

Henry W. Longfellow (1807-1882) Words: Henry W. Longfellow, 1864.

Music: "Waltham (Calkin)," John B. Calkin, 1872 (MIDI, score). Alternate tune:

"Mainzer," Joseph Mainzer, circa 1845 (MIDI, score)

John B. Calkin (1827-1905)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I heard the bells on Christmas day
Their old familiar carols play,
And wild and sweet the words repeat
Of peace on earth, good will to men.

And thought how, as the day had come,
The belfries of all Christendom
Had rolled along the unbroken song
Of peace on earth, good will to men.

Till ringing, singing on its way
The world revolved from night to day,
A voice, a chime, a chant sublime
Of peace on earth, good will to men.

And in despair I bowed my head
"There is no peace on earth," I said,
"For hate is strong and mocks the song
Of peace on earth, good will to men."

Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:
"God is not dead, nor doth He sleep;
The wrong shall fail, the right prevail
With peace on earth, good will to men."

and peace on earth to men of good will

The history is fascinating behind this song. Try the alternate tune which is my favorite.

Christmas Time in Texas by George Strait

When it's Christmas time in Texas
It's a very special time for me
In Texas we'll be swingin'
Around the Christmas tree
Dancin' to a Christmas melody
When it's Christmas time in Texas
It might look just like a summer day
There may not be snow in San Antonio
But it's a Texas Christmas to me

When Santa Claus slips over the border
It'll sound a little different when he sings
Cause he'll hear those twin fiddle's playin'
A Christmas song with a touch of western swing
There may not be snow in San Antonio
But it's a Texas Christmas to me

When it's Christmas time in Texas
I love to hear those Christmas carolers sing
People on the go
Children's faces all aglow
Wonderin' what Santa's gonna bring
Grandpa's been chasin' grandma around
Tryin' to catch her neath the misteltoe
Everything is right
The lone star shinin' bright
But it's a Texas Christmas to me

And here's wishin' you all a merry Christmas
Merry Christmas from Texas and me

I hope all had a merry christmas..........how many of you are as glad as I am that it's done now for another year? It's fun.......I'll admit it. But now it's enough already. Tomorrow we can all get out of the house and see the world again.

Love you all.

I do believe, listeners, that folks are rather relieved when the holidays are over, obviously our Dr. Lola is ready to go back to work.

C.I. I do wish that I could join all you fantastic folks in the May Meeting on the continent. Tell us who plans to be at the gathering.

Terrible news item from Asia:

Well, New Year's Eve is approaching. Reminds me of the cowboy who remarked after a hard day herding cattle: I have to get drunk, and boy do I dread it. Smile

New Years Eve Prayer by Jeff Buckley

you my love are allowed to forget about the christmas you just spent stressed out in your parents house

you my love are allowed to shed the weight of all the years before like bad disco clothes, save them for a night of dancing, stoned with you lover

you my love are allowed to let yourself drown every night in bottomless wild and naked symbolic dreams

you my love in sleep can unlock your youth and your most terrifying magic and dreaming is for the courageous

you my love are allowed to grab my guitar and sing me idiot love songs if
you lost your ability to speak, keep it down to two minutes

you my love are allowed to rot and to die and to live again more alive and incandescent than before

you my love are allowed to beat the **** out of your television, choke it's thoughts and corrupt its mind kill kill kill kill the m-----f----- before the song of zombiefied pain and panic and malaise and its narrow right winged vision and its cheap commercial gang rate becomes the white noise of the world (turn about is fair play)

you my love are allowed to forgive and love your television

you my love are allowed to speak in kisses to those around you and those up in heaven

you my love are allowed to show your babies how to dance full bodied, starry eyed, audacious, supernatural and glorified

you my love are allowed to suck in every single endeavor

you my love are allowed to be soaked like a lovers blanket in the New York summertime with the wonder of your own special gift

you my love are allowed to receive praise

you my love are allowed to have time

you my love are allowed to understand

you my love are allowed to love

woman disobey

little man believe

you my love are a rebellion

[quote="Letty"]soooo, BBB. I couldn't access your link about Manhattan. I knew about the Dutch to some degree. Perhaps, in the future, listeners, it would be best to post a synopsis of your write in's.

Letty, apparently my link was moved to a restricted area by the moderator. I have no idea why. The Amazon.com link follows:
