@Barry The Mod,

Mel Torme?
Thanks for the heads-up, Bazza. I missed it but I will check it out.

Incidentally folks, I can remember reading a short article in the Sunday Express I think it was, about 1956 or thereabouts.
The article said that two American singers had come to public notice recently, and it remained to be seen which of them would make the greater impact.

One was Mel Torme.

The other was Elvis Presley.

Well, I lost my response again, so I'll begin again. I'm blaming it on Wodin.

edgar, had no idea that Sam Cook did I Dream of Jeannie. Love it.

Brit, don't know Jealous of the Angels by Mr. Bostic. Great one.

ehBeth, That fantastic trio of piano, cello, and Irish flute was beautiful.

Good morning to me, good morning to you, hbg. No sunshine here, but I love that sunshine song by NaNa.

More synchronicity because I was just looking at three large photos on my piano.

First, a local version of Nun Sense, then a great one of a jazz Band including Bud on bass and five others. Also Bud doing Santa Claus.

Bud is the one who introduced me to Irving Berlin's Oh How I Hate to get Up in the Morning.

McTag, You missed my song of "The Velvet Fog" doing a duo with George Shearing. Probably his most famous is Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire.

Today is this poets birthday, so here are two of his poems set to music.

First, Tiger (tyger)

Now, The Poison Tree.

Thanks, edgar for restoring our signal as well as your comment.

Don't know Our Winter Love, but it was beautiful.

Here's one that I don't know either, but I love it.

@Barry The Mod,
Welcome back, Barry. I saw a full moon rising from the ocean, and went out late at night to observe it.

What a delightful song by those kids, you need to check out my song on the kids dealing with snow. Their choir is in your neck of the wood.

So, here is my favorite Canadian singing about Jupiter and Mars. Razz

@edgarblythe,
Thanks once again for your comment, edgar.

Fabulous song by Foreigner. I Want to Know What Love is was a great one, Texas. Don't know it, so once again thanks for the introduction.

Here's a guy we both know, and he's singing about a stranger.

I bought the record with The Stranger Song in 1968. I still have the same album. It was Cohen's first, although he was a celebrated poet in Canada by then.

Hey, Brit. Thanks for the info on Cotswold. Beautiful place any time of year.

Trampled by Turtles was great. Don't know that one, however.

I never see the word "turtle" that I don't think of the yitwails. I need to check on him again.

good evening all listeners !
starting my evening shift at WA2K Radio with some british favourites .
first the Two Ronnies with some british pub songs :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-SpfyKn96Y

Quote:
The Two Ronnies is a British sketch show which aired on BBC1 from 1971 to 1987. It featured the double act of Ronnie Barker and Ronnie Corbett, the "Two Ronnies" of the title.

Ronnie Barker and Ronnie Corbett met for the first time at the Buckstone Club in the Haymarket, London, where Ronnie Corbett was serving drinks between acting jobs. They were invited by David Frost to appear in his new show, The Frost Report, with John Cleese,[1] but the pair's big break came when they filled-in for a few minutes during a technical hitch at an awards ceremony in 1970. In the audience was Bill Cotton, the Head of Light Entertainment for the BBC, and Sir Paul Fox, the Controller of BBC One. Cotton was so impressed by the duo that he turned to Fox and asked "How would you like those two on your network?". As a result, Barker and Corbett were given their own show by the BBC. The programme quickly became one of the most successful and long running light entertainment shows on British television, broadcast at the prime-time slot of 8.00 pm on a Saturday night, and 20 million viewers a show at its peak

and here is Lonnie Donegan with another lovely british song :

" My Old Man is a Dustman " .

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sleSYZy-2GI

Quote:
Anthony James "Lonnie" Donegan MBE (29 April 1931 – 3 November 2002[1]) was a Scottish-born skiffle musician, with more than 20 UK Top 30 hits to his name. He is known as the "King of Skiffle" and is often cited as a large influence on the generation of British musicians who became famous in the 1960s.[2][3] The Guinness Book of British Hit Singles & Albums states Donegan was "Britain's most successful and influential recording artist before The Beatles. He chalked up 24 successive Top 30 hits, and was the first UK male to score two U.S. Top 10s".[
