Buddy seemed like such a nice guy. He was one of several artists I intended to follow up until their careers had to end. Here is another one of those artists

@edgarblythe,
You know, edgar, I have learned to appreciate folks like Paul through the years. Put Your Head on My Shoulder was really good.

Here's Another. My Dave created a video for Bud and now when I think of his death which will be on the sixth of October, I know longer feel sad, but happy that he was also talented.

I guess it has slipped my mind that Dan has died. I see it was 2007. He developed as an artist and was better in his later age to me. Tomorrow will by my oldest brother's 72ND birthday. He died at age 29.

@edgarblythe,
It's good to remember, edgar. Thanks for your comments. Love The Hollies version of He Ain't Heavy, He's my brother.

Let's hope that "...all's right with the world.."

Going to say goodnight with two songs and a poem.

First, a funny one by Roy and the boss.

Now, one of my favorites that brings back fond memories.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yDh4GC7n0ig&feature=related

So long ago when our tsar started a poetry thread, I put this one on it.

Bliss Carman. 1861–

A Vagabond Song

THERE is something in the autumn that is native to my blood—
Touch of manner, hint of mood;
And my heart is like a rhyme,
With the yellow and the purple and the crimson keeping time.

The scarlet of the maples can shake me like a cry
Of bugles going by.
And my lonely spirit thrills
To see the frosty asters like a smoke upon the hills.

There is something in October sets the gypsy blood astir;
We must rise and follow her,
When from every hill of flame
She calls and calls each vagabond by name.

From Letty with love to the world.

When I was driving over from the college today, I heard Alison Moyet's version of That Old Devil Called Love on the radio, which is terrific, only slightly spoilt by the fact that it's a direct copy of Billie Holliday's recording, right down to the band arrangement.

Hurry back, dear edgar. Great one by Meat Loaf. Didn't know Two Out of Three Ain't Bad so thanks to you for the introduction.

Lady Diane, how wonderful having you with us again. Shine On You Crazy Diamond by "the pink people" was excellent.

It's always good to see you in our studio, Barry. Simply Red's Holding Back the Years and Mick's That's How Strong My Love is more fine music.

Always good to see Mac, our Scotish friend here, and both versions of Ole Devil Called Love by Alison were good.

Hey,hbg. I also remember The Peppermint Twist. That kid playing boogie on the piano was magnificent. I know Caledonia, incidentally.

Hope euro will be back with us today.

Had a brief discussion with my East Indian friend today, and we wondered about where all the birds here in Florida had gone. Something is very wrong. If any of our listeners have input, we would appreciate their take on it.

Well, we know that Chubby was inspired by Fats, so here is one of my favorites by that talented guy.

Also, one of my favorite songs, although Marty leaves out a verse, we'll get one of our dj's to read the lyrics that are complete.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzogTxwnDjQ&feature=related

South of the border, down Mexico way
That's where I fell in love, where stars above came out to play
And now as I wander, my thoughts ever stray
South of the border, down Mexico way

She was a picture, in old Spanish lace
Just for a tender while I kissed the smile upon her face
For it was fiesta, and we were so gay
South of the border, down Mexico way
way

Then she sighed as she whispered manana
Never dreaming that we were parting
And I lied as I whispered manana
For our tomorrow never came

South of the border, I rode back one day
There in a veil of white by the candlelight, she knelt to pray
The mission bells told me, that I shouldn't stay
South of the border, down Mexico way

@Barry The Mod,
Love Reach for the Stars by Dame Shirley, Barry. Odd, They were playing James Bond movies on our TV and the first one was Gold Finger. Sean Connery is still the best "Bond, James Bond" man of all the others. You, of course, know who did the theme.

Another birthday gal, but first some info.

India.Arie is a Grammy Award-winning American singer-songwriter and record producer. She has sold over 3.3 million records in the US and 10 million worldwide. She has won four Grammy Awards from her 21 nominations, including Best R&B Album.

All this time I thought she was East Indian.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks for your comment, edgar. Yep, he was good.

Love Dark Town Strutter's Ball by Hoagy. He was a great performer as well.

Here's another birthday boy that I'll bet you know. He died in a helicopter crash, but the details are quite confusing. He was only 35 years old.
