yes letty , i remember Caruso .
my dad had fairly extensive collection of records with songs of the great Caruso .

we had a large floormodel grammophone - and when family and friends were visiting , i enjoyed playing records for them .
( i would often stand in front of the grammophone , and waving a wooden spoon , pretend to be the conductor . those were the dreams of childhood )

Love that by Belafonte. I saw him at the Greek when I was thirteen or fourteen, around the time of that recording. He opened up a world for me.

That song is on one of the two oldest albums in my record collection, bought in 1958. Belafonte and Belafonte Sings of the Caribbean are the album names.
