Oh Good Grief and Yikes. I just googled, and Bob is absolutely correct about Dean Martin's B.D. and I do believe I listed him on June 7. But check this out:

http://www.worldalmanacforkids.com/explore/birthdays6.html#2

Should I file a complaint? hmmm. Wonder what my friend did in Steubenville. I'll be talking to him next week. Laughing

I can't delete Dino now. Oh well, nothing wrong with having 2 B.D.s, or is there? (lol)

Thanks, Bob. If it happens again today, I will simply call my friend in the sheriff's dept. I hate to do that, however. I was probably foolish to even discuss anything with him. Five times, however, is a bit odd.

Well, listeners. Should you have anything that you might want to discuss along these lines, give us a ring.

Once, many years ago, a man started calling me in the middle of the night. I think he just randomly dialed numbers. He startled me with talk of a sexual nature and I hung up.

After several calls, I got mad. The next time he called, I told him I was recording his calls and was going to report them to the telephone company and police---and hung up. Apparently, this didn't deter him because he called again the next night.

I had not had a conversation with this man but I decided to try something different. I told him his calls were not turning me on, nor were they upsetting me except for my sleep being disturbed, so all his efforts were failing. I suggested that he grow up and I hung up the phone.

Now this could have been smart or stupid, but I never heard from him again.

Oh, I'm so relieved. Now I can still work for them.

Workers keep right to flirt

Thu Jun 16,11:37 AM ET

FRANKFURT (Reuters) - A German court has upheld the right of Wal-Mart staff in Germany to flirt at work, a spokesman said Thursday, showing that Germany's restrictive labor laws also have their permissive aspects.

The court rejected parts of Wal-Mart's code of conduct relating to employees' love lives, alcohol and drug use and a requirement for staff to report code violations via a so-called ethics hotline, the spokesman said.

He could not immediately confirm the grounds on which the Wuppertal employment court had ordered the clauses to be removed for German staff, saying the judge's opinion was still in the process of being written.

The Financial Times Deutschland said the court had found the clauses, including one banning "any kind of communication that could be interpreted as sexual," contradicted German labor law, in its ruling on the case brought by Wal-Mart's works council.

Wal-Mart Germany, which is based in Wuppertal and can appeal against the decision, had no immediate comment.

The ruling could have far-reaching effects for U.S. companies with staff in Germany. Such restrictions are increasingly common in U.S. corporate culture as firms seek to prevent scandals that could damage their reputation.

An affair with a female executive led to the downfall of Boeing's chief executive in March. The company fired Harry Stonecipher when the affair came to light, saying his conduct broke company rules and damaged his ability to lead.

Yit, you're right. Shirley was guilty by association. <smile>

BBB, the thing that was odd about my caller is that there was no sexual implication. Had there been, I would have taken more drastic steps.

Heh! Heh! Bob. Things are weird all over when Germany allows flirtation at Wall Mart. You could always volunteer, you know. and speaking of Germany, hope Walter is listening.

Well, listeners, my quiet time is over for the moment.

Later, all.

Doesn't Rosemary yell when you do that?

Rosemary extract could make cooked meat safer

By Alison McCook Wed Jun 15,11:44 AM ET

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - Adding a dash of rosemary extract to ground beef appears to reduce the amount of cancer-causing compounds created during the cooking process, according to new study findings.

The investigators found that when they added antioxidants extracted from rosemary to ground beef, the hamburgers contained smaller amounts of heterocyclic amines, or HCAs, carcinogenic compounds that form when muscle meats like beef, pork and poultry are cooked at high temperatures.

Study author Dr. J.
Scott Smith of Kansas State University in Manhattan explained that the antioxidants in rosemary are also found in smaller amounts in other spices such as oregano, sage and basil. The antioxidants likely reduce HCAs by blocking the chemical process that creates the cancer-causing compounds, Smith noted.

He added that people can purchase extracts of rosemary, but they're fairly expensive. To keep meat safe, Smith recommended avoiding cooking meat at extremely high temperatures. Adding spices couldn't hurt, he noted, and may make the meat even safer.

Previous research has also suggested that frequently flipping burgers, trimming off fat and skin before grilling meat, and removing charred portions after grilling may reduce the amount of HCAs in meat.

Microwaving meat does not appear to create HCAs, Smith added, because the temperature in a microwave stays relatively low.

During the study, Smith added rosemary extracts that contain antioxidants to uncooked, ground beef, then fried the meat in a Teflon skillet. He found that meat with rosemary contained smaller amounts of HCAs.

Smith said he did not know how much rosemary people should add to obtain the same effects he saw from rosemary extracts. He plans to investigate whether spices in marinades also protect meat from HCAs.

He added that the study was funded by the Food Safety Consortium, based in Arkansas, Iowa and Kansas, and he has not received any money from companies that sell rosemary products.

Smith presented his findings in March at the Pittsburgh Conference on Analytical Chemistry and Applied Spectroscopy in Orlando, Florida.

Boyhood Footsteps

Although the home where home where Dean was born is no longer standing, several places that played key roles in his boyhood life can be seen when you visit Steubenville. Dean grew up in the South-end neighborhood, and the site of his home (a) is a lot at 319 Sixth Street. This was also the location of his father's barber shop. Around the corner is St. Anthony's Church (b), where Dino was baptized. Dean was educated at Grant School (c) on South Fourth Street. On the North end of downtown is Wells School (d), formerly Wells High School, where Dean attended ninth and tenth grade. One block away is Naple's Steak and Spaghetti House (e), one of Dean's favorite places for Italian food and which hosted Dean's friends and family for a dinner during his visit to Steubenville in 1950. Steps leading to what was once the Walkers Café (f) can be seen from Washington Street. Dean Martin liked to hang out here, and he entertained the patrons with his singing. The Spot Bar (g) on South Fourth Street is the last existing bar where Dino went with his pals. He used to play dice in the back room.

The Mansion Museum (h) of the Jefferson County Historical Association on Franklin Avenue displays some Dean Martin items in the Celebrity Room. In the Wedding Room on the second floor is a wedding dress that was handmade by Dino's mother.

The building that now houses Gertrude Lee Candies was once Dean's parents' last residence (i) before he moved them to Los Angeles.

The Dean Martin Mural (j), painted by Robert Dever in 1998, celebrates the memory of this local favorite. Route 7 has been named Dean Martin Boulevard (k). In the Gazebo Park at Route 7 and North Fourth Street is a State Historical Marker (l) that was dedicated by Ohio Governor Bob Taft. The plaque commemorates June 7 - Dean Martin's birthday - as Dean Martin Day, an official State of Ohio holiday.

Before you ask it I'll tell you.... yes, I'm a senior citizen (or was it denizen).

Hi ah,....

Hummm let me think ,...why did I send you this......don't tell me it's coming to me.....
Oh ya.....

Senior citizens are constantly being criticized for every conceivable deficiency of the modern world, real or imaginary. We know we take responsibility for all we have done and do not blame others.

HOWEVER, upon reflection, we would like to point out that it was NOT the senior citizens who took:

The melody out of music,
The pride out of appearance,
The courtesy out of driving,
The romance out of love,
The commitment out of marriage,
The responsibility out of parenthood,
The togetherness out of the family,
The learning out of education,
The service out of patriotism,
The Golden Rule from rulers,
The nativity scene out of cities,
The civility out of behavior,
The refinement out of language,
The dedication out of employment,
The prudence out of spending,
The ambition out of achievement, or,
God out of government and school.

And we certainly are NOT the ones who eliminated patience and tolerance from personal relationships and interactions with others!!

And, we do understand the meaning of patriotism, and remember those who have fought and died for our country.

Does anyone under the age of 50 know the lyrics to the Star Spangled Banner? or O Canada

Just look at the Seniors with tears in their eyes and pride in their hearts as they stand at attention, on veterans day and our great country's birthday .

YES, I'M A SENIOR CITIZEN!

I'm the life of the party...... even if it lasts until 8 p.m.
I'm very good at opening childproof caps... with a hammer.
I'm usually interested in going home before I get to where I am going.
I'm awake many hours before my body allows me to get up.
I'm smiling all the time because I can't hear a thing you're saying.
I'm very good at telling stories; over and over and over and over...
I'm aware that other people's grandchildren are not nearly as cute as mine.
I'm so cared for --- long term care, eye care, private care, dental care.

I'm not really grouchy,

I just don't like traffic, waiting, crowds, lawyers, loud music, unruly kids, Jenny Craig and Toyota commercials, barking dogs, politicians and a few other things I can't seem to remember right now.

I'm sure everything I can't find is in a safe secure place, somewhere.
I'm wrinkled, saggy, lumpy, and that's just my left leg.
I'm having trouble remembering simple words like.......
I'm beginning to realize that aging is not for wimps.
I'm sure they are making adults much younger these days, and when did they let kids become policemen?
I'm wondering, if you're only as old as you feel, how could I be alive at 150?
And, how can my kids be older than I feel sometimes?

I'm a walking storeroom of facts..... I've just lost the key to the storeroom door.

Yes, I'm a SENIOR CITIZEN and I think I am having the time of my life!

Now if I could only remember who sent this to me, I wouldn't send it back to them, but I would send it to many more!

Now- Have I already sent this to you???????

If so, I'll try not to do it again (for a while.)

Volare Lyrics (Dean Martin)

Dean Martin - Volare Lyrics
Volare, oh oh
Cantare, oh oh oh oh
Let's fly way up to the clouds
Away from the maddening crowds
We can sing in the glow of a star that I know of
Where lovers enjoy peace of mind
Let us leave the confusion and all disillusion behind
Just like bird of a feather, a rainbow together we'll find

Volare, oh oh
E contare, oh oh oh oh
No wonder my happy heart sings
Your love has given me wings

Mentre il mondo pian piano spariva lontano laggiu
Una musica dolce suonava soltanto per me

Volare, oh oh
E cantare, oh oh oh oh
No wonder my happy heart sings
Your love has given me wings
Nel blu, dipinto di blu
Felice di stare lassu

Hey, listeners, I may have played that song before, and if so, "quoth the raven ...never more." <smile>

Bob, dear, you are not a senior, you are a classic, and those words are quite true.

Writer(s): Styne/Cahn

It seems to me I've heard that song before
It's from an old familiar score
I know it well, that melody

It's funny how a theme
Recalls a favorite dream
A dream that brought you so close to me

I know each word, because I've heard that song before
The lyrics said: "for evermore"
For evermore's a memory

Please have them play it again
And (Then) I'll remember just when
I heard that lovely song before

UhOh, Tico. and you just reminded me of a song I wrote for the Chevrolet guys. Trouble is, I can't remember it! but I do remember this one:

Oh, Tico Tico, Tick
Oh, Tico Tico, Tock
This Tico Tico, he's the cuckoo in my clock.
And when he says "cuckoo",
He means it's time to woo,
It's Tico time for all the lovers on the block.

I''v got a heavy date,
A tete a tete at eight,
So speak, Oh Tico, tell me if it's getting late?
If I'm on time, cuckoo,
But if I'm late I, woo-woo!
The one my heart is gone to may not want to wait!

For just a birdie, and a birdie who goes nowhere,
He knows of every lover's lane and how to go there;
For in affairs of the heart
My Tico's terribly smart,
He tells me: "Gently, sentiment'ly at the start!"

Oh, Oh, I hear my little Tico Tico calling
Because the time is right and shades of night are falling.
I love that not-so-cuckoo cuckoo in the clock
tico tico tico tico tico tock.

It's dedication time again, listeners.

McTag, my mom had a cuckoo clock, and my sister used to sing that song to her when she set it. I think it tick tocked her off.

Tico, my word, you guys and your cars. We've come a long way, baby. The first car that I ever drove was a dodge, and I got one sittin' in my garage right now...body made in Canada; engine made in France.

Well, folks, if you want to know something about music and cars, just call us cause we won't call you.

Gaye Marvin - Mercy Mercy Me (the Ecology) Lyrics

Oh, mercy mercy me
Oh, things ain't what they used to be
No, no
Where did all the blue sky go?
Poison is the wind that blows
From the north, east, south, and sea
Oh, mercy mercy me
Oh, things ain't what they used to be
No, no
Oil wasted on the oceans and upon our seas
Fish full of mercury
Oh, mercy mercy me
Oh, things ain't what they used to be
No, no
Radiation in the ground and in the sky
Animals and birds who live nearby are dying
Oh, mercy mercy me
Oh, things ain't what they used to be
What about this overcrowded land?
How much more abuse from man can you stand?
My sweet Lord
My sweet Lord
My sweet Lord
