@edgarblythe,
I guess it was because Rod's voice was so raspy, edgar.

Liked Rolling Stones' Beast of Burden and also Brandy by Looking Glass.

Speaking of June, I thought that I would play this one from Carousel, but first some info.

Carousel is the second stage musical by the team of Richard Rodgers (music) and Oscar Hammerstein II (book and lyrics). The work premiered in 1945 and was adapted from Ferenc Molnár's 1909 play Liliom, transplanting its Budapest setting to the Maine coastline. The story revolves around carousel barker Billy Bigelow, whose romance with millworker Julie Jordan comes at the price of both their jobs. He attempts a robbery to provide for Julie and their unborn child; when it goes wrong, he has a chance to make things right. A secondary plot line deals with millworker Carrie Pipperidge and her romance with ambitious fisherman Enoch Snow. The show includes the well-known songs "If I Loved You", "June Is Bustin' Out All Over" and "You'll Never Walk Alone". Richard Rodgers later wrote that Carousel was his favorite among all his musicals.

@edgarblythe,
Ah, edgar, I love that song by Gordon McRae. How sad that he got mouth cancer.

Here's another Bill from Showboat.

@edgarblythe,
Don't know Long Tall Glasses by Leo, edgar, but it was great. Thanks for the introduction and for keeping us on the air.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with two songs.

First, a jazz version of a song that I played on the piano so long ago. It was my first success at reading sheet music.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHeluq-ss-k&feature=related

Now, the lyrics.

THE SUN IS SINKING LOW BEHIND THE HILL,
I LOVED YOU LONG AGO, I LOVE YOU STILL.
ACROSS THE YEARS YOU COME TO ME AT TWILIGHT
TO BRING ME LOVE`S OLD THRILL.

When the deep purple falls
Over sleepy garden walls
And the stars begin to flicker in the sky
Through the mist of a memory
You wander back to me
Breathing my name with a sigh

In the still of the night
Once again I'll hold you tight
Though you're gone your love lives on
When moonlight beams
And as long as my heart will beat
Love we'll always meet
Here in my deep purple dreams

And as long as my heart will beat
Love we'll always meet
Here in my deep purple dreams

and finally, one that I leased from Rockhead. Razz

Hope Dublin and Ontario will appear to do their thing.

From Letty with love to the world.

Deep Purple is a nice song, letty. Rock's song is fine also.
Here is a spiritual. I especially like the lyrics when he sings
I've got shoes
You've got shoes -

Good morning, everyone. I always thought 10cc's I'm Not In Love is a very clever song. It is about a young man immaturely denying how much his girlfriend really means to him.

good morning, edgar. I love that spiritual by Harry. As hbg would say, that was a toe tapping song.

Wandel, Welcome back. I love that song "I'm Not a Lover" by 10 cc especially the whispering effect.

Two songs for the morning here in Florida.

First, one that awakened me last night as I dreamed that my hair got tangled up in the full moon. The World I Used to Know is by Jimmy Rodgers. Then De Bussy comes later

Now, a birthday man of noble birth. First, some info.

Sir Edward William Elgar, 1st Baronet OM, GCVO (2 June 1857 – 23 February 1934) was an English composer, many of whose works have entered the British and international classical concert repertoire. Among his best-known compositions are orchestral works including the Enigma Variations, the Pomp and Circumstance Marches, concertos for violin and cello, and two symphonies. He also composed choral works, including The Dream of Gerontius, chamber music and songs. He was appointed Master of the King's Musick in 1924.

Now, his marvelous classical piece.

Good morning. I loved wandel's song. Or, in non Texan, "My adulation for wandel's selected piece is boundless." I have dawdled and will have to get back to letty's music later.

Jimmy Rodgers is an artist I have been following since 1957. I consider THe World I Used to Know his masterpiece.
I am not that familiar with Elgar's work, but that is some great music.

Barry, Welcome back. Wow! Those Sweet Adelines have perfect pitch. They don't need that pitch pipe. Love Time After Time by them, London. I think that McTag and Fiona ought to do a duet sometimes. As one of the observers notes:

Viva Acapella.

Sweet Adeline; my Adeline, at night dear heart,
For you I pine.
In all my dreams,
Your fair face beams,
You're the apple of my heart,
Sweet Adeline.

edgar, thanks again for your comment and George of the Jungle. Funny.

How about another tarzan.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, Ray is indeed funny. That fantastic song by Neil, Play Me, was one that I hadn't heard. It was poetic and totally captivating. I remember his Sweet Caroline, too.

Another Rolling Stone. Today is this guy's birthday. First, some info.

Charles Robert "Charlie" Watts (born 2 June 1941) is an English drummer, best known as a member of The Rolling Stones. He is also the leader of a jazz band, a record producer, commercial artist, and horse breeder.

How about some jazz by the guy.

I wanted to do a tribute to Stacy Keach, but I couldn't find a good song. I remember him best for The Ninth Configuration.
