edgar, You know how I love Leonard Cohen. Don't know that one by him, but it was great.

Hey, Brit. You also know that I love Can You Hear the People Sing from Les Miz.

I believe you got the rock boys and that other guy mixed up. Hurry back.

Explanation from Dick. Funny.

Britons have long mocked Dick Van Dyke's cockney accent in 'Mary Poppins.' How could the actor possibly think it qualified as cockney?

Mystery solved! "They gave me a coach who was Irish -- Pat O'Malley," said Van Dyke when he appeared on 'The Late Late Show' (weeknights, 12:37AM ET on CBS). Ah, so he sounded more like an Irish chimney sweep. Craig Ferguson was shocked: "That explains everything!"

Sorry, Euro. Razz

Saying goodnight with two songs, yawl.

First a great jazz quintet replete with lyrics.

Treat me sweet and gentle
When you say goodnight
Just squeeze me
But please don't tease me

I get sentimental
When you hold me tight
Just squeeze me
But please don't tease me

Missing you since you went away
Singin' the blues away each day
Counting the nights and waiting for you

I'm in the mood to let you know
I never knew I loved you so
Please say, you love me too

When I get this feeling
I'm in ecstasy
So squeeze me
But please don't tease me

Now Andrea.

Nice to have Dublin and London with us today. Bet Ontario will be back later.

From Letty with love to all of you

To Americans in general, Dick sounded fine, since most could not recognize the real article anyway. He was charming enough to offset it, to me.
Miles, Andrea and the rest are as always very fine.

Quote:
Dominic James "Nick" LaRocca (April 11, 1889 – February 22, 1961), was an early jazz cornetist and trumpeter and the leader of the Original Dixieland Jass Band. He is the composer of one of the most recorded jazz classics of all-time, "Tiger Rag". He was part of what is generally regarded as the first recorded jazz band, a band which recorded and released the first jazz recording, "Livery Stable Blues" in 1917.

Good morning, all. Wee bit of a start last evening. Kept hearing something banging against my garage window. Crept out of bed early and found it was a cardinal (bird) slamming into the glass.

edgar, hurry back and thanks for your comment and the Paris song. I know Under Paris Skies, but not that one.

hbg, Loved both of your Tiger Rag songs, but my two favorites were Cielito Lindo by those Mills brothers, and I love Paris.

A birthday boy for the morning.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks for restoring our signal, Texas. As you know, your comments are always appreciated.

Don't know that one by "the jester", but What's a Sweetheart Like You Doing in a Dump Like This, was great.

Today is Andy Garcia's birthday, and for those of us who may not remember him, a little info.

Andrés Arturo García Menéndez (born April 12, 1956), professionally known as Andy García, is a Cuban American actor. He became known in the late 1980s and 1990s, having appeared in several successful Hollywood films, including The Godfather: Part III, The Untouchables, Internal Affairs and When a Man Loves a Woman. More recently, he has starred in Ocean's Eleven and its sequels, Ocean's Twelve and Ocean's Thirteen, and The Lost City.

García was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Vincent Mancini in The Godfather Part III.

Now, a tribute to the man.

@edgarblythe,
My word, edgar. Had no idea that Peewee did Elvis. Funny.

Here's someone who was matched with Paul Robeson.

There are three separate versions of this wonderful man.

@edgarblythe,
Great song by the Coasters, edgar. Had no idea that they did Zing Went the Strings.

Bet you know this guy, Texas. Today is his birthday. Since I don't know him and perhaps our listeners and contributors don't either, we'll read some info concerning him.

Vincent Grant "Vince" Gill (born April 12, 1957) is an American country singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. He has achieved commercial success and fame both as frontman to the country rock band Pure Prairie League in the 1970s, and as a solo artist beginning in 1983, where his talents as a vocalist and musician have placed him in high demand as a guest vocalist, and a duet partner. Gill has recorded more than twenty studio albums, charted over forty singles on the U.S. Billboard charts as Hot Country Songs, and has sold more than 22 million albums. He has been honored by the Country Music Association with 18 CMA Awards, including two Entertainer of the Year awards and five Male Vocalist Awards. Gill has also earned 27 Grammy Awards, more than any other male Country music artist. In 2007, Gill was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Here he is singing.

Wow! That song by Judy was great. I knew that it was a poem by Yeats and so I went searching and found this one to match.
