euroGeorge, Sleep well and thanks again for your comments. April 14 by Gillian Welch was great.

edgar, you know how I love Brook. Just a Matter of Time was great, and thanks for your comments as well.

More synchronicity, yawl. Today is Marlon Brando's birthday, and I just watched him in Mutiny on the Bounty.

My goodnight song is the theme from that great movie.

Good to have London and Dublin with us today.

From Letty with love and a memory

listening to the fine music being played !
..........................................................................
some connection problems sidelined me for a couple of hours ,
sure hope they don't recur .
..........................................................................
i'm sure we all like Don Gibson .
it's his birthday today and here he is with a beautiful song :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdSeO6HywQc

Quote:
Donald Eugene "Don" Gibson (April 3, 1928 – November 17, 2003) was an American songwriter and country musician. A Country Music Hall of Fame inductee, Gibson penned such country standards as "Sweet Dreams" and "I Can't Stop Loving You", and enjoyed a string of country hits from 1957 into the early 1970s.

Don Gibson was born in Shelby, North Carolina, into a poor working-class family, and he dropped out of school in the second grade.

His first band was called Sons of the Soil, with whom he made his first recording in 1948.

In 1957, he journeyed to Nashville to record "Oh Lonesome Me" and "I Can't Stop Loving You" for RCA. The afternoon session resulted in a double-sided hit on both the country and pop charts.

"Oh Lonesome Me" set the pattern for a long series of other RCA hits. "Blue Blue Day", recorded prior to "Oh, Lonesome Me" was a number 1 hit in 1958. Later singles included "Look Who's Blue" (1958), "Don't Tell Me Your Troubles" (1959), "Sea of Heartbreak" (1961); "Lonesome No. 1", "I Can Mend Your Broken Heart" (1962), and "Woman (Sensuous Woman)", a number one country hit in 1972.

what a string of hits he had !

One of those sleepless nights again.

hbg, Loved all of your songs, especially Don Gibson and The Royal mounties.

Tanya Tucker did a great job, edgar. Hurry back.

You hurry back, too, euro. Love The Lady in Red by Chris.

I made an interesting discovery while I was up watching that old moon outside our studio.

First some info on this great artist.

Although best known for his partnership with Anthony Newley, Bricusse has worked with many other composers. He was educated at University College School in London and Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge. Whilst at Cambridge University, he was Secretary of Footlights between 1952 and 1953 and Footlights President during the following year. He currently lives in California in the United States, and he is married to the actress Yvonne Romain.
Sammy Davis, Jr. had hits with two of Bricusse's songs - "What Kind of Fool Am I?" (from Stop the World - I Want to Get Off) and the #1 hit "The Candy Man" (from Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. Other recording artists who have had popular success with his songs include Matt Monro and Frank Sinatra ("My Kind of Girl"), Shirley Bassey ("Goldfinger"), Harry Secombe ("If I Ruled the World"), Nancy Sinatra ("You Only Live Twice"), Maureen McGovern ("Can You Read My Mind"), and Diana Krall ("When I Look in Your Eyes ). Bricusse also partnered with George Tipton to write the opening theme of the U.S. television series It's a Living

Now, two versions of the same song.

First, Bobby.
