@edgarblythe,
Wow! I thought that rain fade had destroyed our signal, edgar. Love Jackie Wilson, but I'm not familiar with that one by him.

That one by Handel was based on this guy.

Barry Lyndon is a 1975 British-American period romantic war film produced, written, and directed by Stanley Kubrick. The film is based on the 1844 novel The Luck of Barry Lyndon by William Makepeace Thackeray which recounts the exploits of an 18th century Irish adventurer. Ryan O'Neal stars as Barry Lyndon.

Another birthday boy, and I'm not familiar with him so first some info.

Howard Jones (born John Howard Jones, 23 February 1955, Southampton, Hampshire, England is a British musician, singer and songwriter. According to the Guinness Book of British Hit Singles & Albums, "Jones is an accomplished singer-songwriter who was a regular chart visitor in the mid 1980s with his brand of synthpop. Jones, who was equally popular in the U.S., appeared at Live Aid" Allmusic journalist, Stephen Thomas Erlewine adds, "Jones was one of the defining figures of mid 1980s synthpop. His music merged the technology intensive sound of new wave with the cheery optimism of hippies and late 1960s pop. Jones racked up a string of hits in the mid and late 1980s, before he retreated into being a cult figure in the 1990s"

@Letty,
Howdy folks.
I'd forgotten all about Howard Jones. I haven't heard him in years, Miss letty. I remember my favourite song of his was 'What is Love'.

The Beat.

@eurocelticyankee,
Welcome back, Irish. Thanks for your comment.

You sent me searching again, euro.

The Beat (known in North America as The English Beat) are a 2 Tone ska revival band founded in England in 1978. Their songs fuse ska, pop, soul, reggae and punk rock, and their lyrics deal with themes of love, unity and sociopolitical topics

They do Can't Get Use to Losing you much better than Andy Williams. Thanks for the introduction.

Somehow, The Beat reminded me of this one by Sonny and Cher.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umrp1tIBY8Q

Loved dancing to that one.

Don't remember Howard Jones. The one by the Beat is a song I recall by Andy Williams. I like most of Sonny and Cher's hits, including that one.

@eurocelticyankee,
Ah, euro, you are such a dear. Loved Summer in the City by The Loving Spoonful.

And Howard Jones' What is Love was great.

Thanks for the discovery. I thought it was Karen, but I wasn't sure.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with George Shearing and Alice, Ben Bolt.

First, George.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZEIw29MAa7g&feature=related

If you want to know the lyrics to that one, listen to Nat.

Now Sweet Alice.

First, the poem.(part of it)

Oh don't you remember sweet Alice, Ben Bolt
Sweet Alice whose hair was so brown
Who wept with delight when you gave her a smile
And trembled with fear at your frown.
In the old church yard in the valley, Ben Bolt
In a corner obscure and alone
They have fitted a slab of granite so gray
And sweet Alice lies under the stone
They have fitted a slab of granite so gray
And sweet Alice lies under the stone

Now the song.

I used to think that her name was Alice Ben Bolt.

From Letty with love to all of you.

Two songs for the early morning. Two fabulous performers who are birthday boys.

First Caruso.

High Noon here, yawl.

Didn't know Yellow, Brit, but it was a good one.

euroGeorge, Money was funny considering all those ladies in the visuals.

Anyone here ever see A Hasty Heart? It was on TCM and starred Richard Todd. You kin to him, Irish? Check it out on IMDb sometimes. I had to smile at Ronald Reagan's performance.

Wish I could have found the Scottish Irish music theme to play here. No luck.

Today is this guy's birthday, but first some info.

George Thorogood (born February 24, 1950) is an American blues rock vocalist/guitarist from Wilmington, Delaware, United States, known for his hit song "Bad to the Bone" as well as for covers of blues standards such as Hank Williams' "Move It On Over" and John Lee Hooker's "House Rent Boogie/One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer". Another favorite is a cover of Bo Diddley's "Who Do You Love?".

Billy Zane, probably best remembered for Titanic.
