edgar, Thanks for that one by The Rollin Stone. Good one, Texas, and thanks again for your comments

Brit, I love motown stuff. That one by Essex A Walking Miracle was really good.

Thanks for the introduction as I didn't know it.

My Mom used to call it supper, not dinner, so I'll be back later after I eat.

Gentleman Jim sings about the other meaning of suppertime.

Goodnight, Brit.

edgar, I like that Goodnight song by "the fab four"

What a wonderful day on WA2K.

Time for me to say goodnight as well, and I think that I shall do so with The Platters.

@eurocelticyankee,
Irish, when Ella sang straight without scat vocalizing she was fabulous. Thanks for your comments. Love Paper Moon, incidentally.

You sent me searching, euroGeorge. That vocal group singing behind Ella was fabulous. I think this is the group, and they include a poem in their montage and also my telling song. They are excellent.

@Letty,
I agree with you on Ella's vocals, she did have a sweet voice before scat.
Them Delta Rhythm Boys are great, well spotted Miss Letty.

@eurocelticyankee,
Love Sting and the Police, Irish. I'll Be Watching You is a good one. Thanks again for your comments.

Here's the poem that I knew when the Delta Boys included it in their songs.

Jenny kissed me when we met,
Jumping from the chair she sat in;
Time, you thief, who love to get
Sweets into your list, put that in!
Say I'm weary, say I'm sad,
Say that health and wealth have missed me,
Say I'm growing old, but add,
Jenny kissed me.

James Henry Leigh Hunt

Here's one for you euroGeorge. Not the greatest version, however.

so i'm just poking around at the computer - can hear the snowplow and sander rattling along ... rats !

Ray price's For the Good Times is perhaps his best song. But I loved him when he sang like this too.
