@Barry The Mod,
Wow! Wonder if that lovely vocalist is kin to neco nomad. Razz That's a great song, Brit. Don't know her, but I sure know Tom Waits. thanks for the introduction.

I stumbled across this one as well. The quotes that involve music come from Robert Browning and Elizabet Barrett Browning.

Beth Nielsen Chapman - Every December Sky.
Live,as it should be.

Every December sky
Must lose its faith in leaves
And dream of the spring inside the trees.
How heavy the empty heart,
How light the heart that's full.
Sometimes I have to trust what I can't know
Sometimes I have to trust what I can't know

We walk into Paradise;
The angels lend us shoes.
'Cause all that we own,
We'll come to lose,
And Heaven is not so far
Outside this womb of words.
With every rose that blooms
My soul is assured
It's just like a song I've known
Yet still unheard.

And every leaf of fire lets go,
Melting in the arms of earth and snow.
And if I could hold you now,
You'd enter like a sigh.
You'd be the wind that blows
The answer to "why?"
You'd be the spring-filled trees
Of every December sky.

You sent me searching again, Brit.

Beth Nielsen Chapman (born September 14, 1956, Harlingen, Texas, United States) is an American singer-songwriter, mostly known for her numerous hits recorded by country and pop music performers.

That was a great song by the lady. Well, as I told hbg, the alternative of getting old wasn't so great. Wonderful interpretation of John by that artist. Don't care for Yko either.

Today is Cab Calloway's birthday and look at how spry he is doing Minnie the Moocher.

edgar, Welcome home. Love that one by Jerry Vale. Thanks for the dedication for all of us here.

Hey, Brit. Great one by Caitlin Rose. Don't know her but she's great. Well, I'm home for Christmas and the kid from Orlando along with my daughter did everything. I saw that one by The Blues Bros. and Cab. You're funny today. Love that.

Here's another feeling about all our listeners and contributors.

@Barry The Mod,
Good night dear Brit. Loved that song by Jane Taylor. I recognized the Christmas songs in there, too. I love a brass band at Christmas as well.

Info about the gal.

Jane Taylor is a Bristol-based guitarist, pianist, songwriter and vocalist. Jane won the UK and International Songwriting Competition in 2003 with her song Blowing This Candle Out. Her second album Compass was awarded the Best Album title in the Folk / Singer-Songwriter category at the 2010 Independent Music Awards.

Today is Humphrey Bogart's birthday and I think he was best in Casablanca.

Play it, Sam.

So glad to have Canada and London with us today.

Sweet Harmony is a good one. I was watching Bogey in The Barefoot Contessa, the other day. It brought back good memories. I think I like him equally between Treasure of Sierra Madre and African Queen.

Good early morning, WA2K folks.

edgar, I recall The African Queen. Those leeches were scary. hbg, I like Tex Mex music as well. Those two were great.

I searched and searched for the song Sierra Madre, but all I could find were the lyrics.

I looked for the treasure
Of Sierra Madre
From the tales that were told
There were mountains of gold
Buried there.
I looked for the treasure
Of Sierra Madre
Then a soft echo came
And it tenderly whispered your name.
Refrain:
I didn't find the treasure
I was looking for
I didn'f find the fortune
But I found much more
For you are the treasure
Of Sierra Madre

Ah, Bogey. What a performer.

Incidentally, George Washington wasn't leeched, but the Barber's pole also represented those who were leeched for health purposes.

Two songs for the early morning here in Florida.

First, we'll dedicate this to our alex.

Love those old black and white films, and here is a tribute to another one.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/12/24/its-a-wonderful-life-day_n_1168868.html

The entire idea behind the movie was that had George not been born, many good people would have suffered.

Well, as the flower lady would say, "...all is well in Letty land..."

I had not heard of It's a Wonderful Life Day before.
Chicago - what I admire most about them, they often sound like a different group to me from song to song.
Here is something mellow

@edgarblythe,
edgar, thanks again for your comment.

Ah, those delightful Chinese children singing the New Year song. How very beautiful. I used to know the difference between bongos and conga drums. Thanks for the bit of humor, Texas.

If memory serves me, the pagotas were designed to allow the demons to slide down, then up and thus preventing them from invasion of the village.

Another Chinese song.
