Good early morning, WA2K.

edgar, loved your goodnight song. O Happy Day reminds me of the cleansing power of water. Thanks again for your comment.

Hey, Brit. Good to see you again, and you sent me searching. Love it.

Raymond "Ray" Davis (March 29, 1940 – July 5, 2005) was the original bass singer and one of the founding members of The Parliaments, Parliament, and Funkadelic. His regular nickname while he was with those groups was "Sting Ray Davis". Aside from George Clinton, he was the only original member of the Parliaments not to leave the Parliament/Funkadelic conglomerate in 1977. He is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, inducted in 1997 with fifteen other members of Parliament-Funkadelic.

Ray Davis' Sane was fabulous as was Mark Nevin's I Know Where Ray Davis Lives. Thanks for the comment on Jack Jones. He and his dad were excellent

Loved Amy's Teach Me Tonight. Hmmm. This must be teacher day on WA2K

The Kinks - Lola.

I met her in a club down in old Soho
Where you drink champagne and it tastes just like cherry-cola
C-O-L-A cola
She walked up to me and she asked me to dance
I asked her her name and in a DARK BROWN voice she said Lola
L-O-L-A Lola lo-lo-lo-lo Lola

Well I'm not the world's most physical guy
But when she squeezed me tight she nearly broke my spine
Oh my Lola lo-lo-lo-lo Lola
Well I'm not dumb but I can't understand
Why she walked like a woman and talked like a man
Oh my Lola lo-lo-lo-lo Lola lo-lo-lo-lo Lola

Well we drank champagne and danced all night
Under electric candlelight
She picked me up and sat me on her knee
And said little boy won't you come home with me
Well I'm not the world's most passionate guy
But when I looked in her eyes well I almost fell for my Lola
Lo-lo-lo-lo Lola lo-lo-lo-lo Lola
Lola lo-lo-lo-lo Lola lo-lo-lo-lo Lola

I pushed her away
I walked to the door
I fell to the floor
I got down on my knees
Well I looked at her and she at me

Well that's the way that I want it to stay
And I'll always want it to be that way for my Lola
Lo-lo-lo-lo Lola
Girls will be boys and boys will be girls
It's a mixed up muddled up shook up world except for Lola
Lo-lo-lo-lo Lola

Well I'd left home just a week before
And I'd never ever kissed a woman before
But Lola smiled and took me by the hand
And said little boy I'm gonna make you a man

Well I'm not the world's most masculine man
But I know what I am and I'm glad I'm a man
And so is Lola
Lo-lo-lo-lo Lola lo-lo-lo-lo Lola
Lola lo-lo-lo-lo Lola lo-lo-lo-lo Lola

Pizza smells like it's done.Back later.

There has been some talk recently of Robbie Burns, and the song of his poem Coming Through the Rye.

There are many versions, but this has memorably been put throught the American mill in this one.

Maybe you would like to hear the pipe tune "100 Pipers" reworked by Lord Rockingham's Eleven.

Hey, Barry. Thanks for the clarification about Ray. The Kinks are good on Lola.

Love Joss Stone and James Brown. It's a Man's World is one that I know. Don't know Joss, however, but she's a beauty and a great performer. Stop Dragging My Heart was excellent.

McTag, those two songs were hilarious. I love Robert Burns, but I had to smile at those. Welcome back to you as well.

I was fascinated with Coming Through the Rye because it was the music played behind the movie Catcher in the Rye. Didn't see the movie, but the book was banned because of explicit language and allusions to sex.

Most of us here heard dear Karen Carpenter and John Denver do Coming through the Rye stippled with good vibrations.

Here's the version that I was referring to.

Hope I didn't miss anyone. Hotter than the hinges of hell here. Thank God for my new air conditioner.

@Barry The Mod,

That's very good. Recorded 2004. Billie Holliday in every line, none the worse for that. Fabulous artist. RIP.

Speaking of the reflective power of water, letty, I just had a tall glass of it, ice cold. Comin Through the Rye - Always did like that song. Never had a favorite version.

You're right, Taggers. Amy does sound like Lady Day.

edgar, thanks again for your comments. Ah, how many time as a wee thing did I swim in Rockfish River. Love the memory. Yep, Texas, lots of water needs to be drunk in this hot weather.

Don't know Yes sir No Sir by The Kinks. Hurry back and stay cool.

Here's one by Ricky Nelson to match edgar's song.

@edgarblythe,
Strange, edgar, I didn't know that Ricky did that one. Thanks for the satire on the "great" depression. Just saw where Harry took a swipe at the president.

Here's another by Peggy Lee.

@edgarblythe,
Don't know Barrett Strong, edgar, but I can understand "..what he wants.." Odd, of course we all need money, no one denies that, I think "...the love of money is the root of all evil..."

The Beatles may be right.

Money in America is what buys security, handled properly. In actual fact, love suffers when a couple are hard strapped for cash, for there are fights with lack of money at the root. Romantic notions of love don't stand the test of time in many such situations.

@edgarblythe,
Funny, edgar. My oldest sister once told me when the wolf comes in the door, love flies out the window.

Ah, "..the pearl of great price.." What a performer. She was so great. Don't know that song, but That's Good Enough for Me was great.

Here's one that I like by a great duo.

Tony Bennett is a favorite of mine. I know John Legend, but I always need a reminder of just who he is, each time.
