Skeeter Davis
A sad song, but one thoroughly ingrained in my mind by listening to it about six or eight times a day, for weeks.

Good night.

Good morning, WA2K folks.

edgar, loved your Skeeter Davis song. The End of the World is sad, but I think we all know there is no such thing as unrequited love. When we're young, we like to think of it that way and some times we enjoy it.

Love Hoagy and his buttermilk skies. He was one great performer and composer.

Hey, Brit. Don't know Johnny Allan, but love that song. I've been to Norfolk, Va., but didn't realize its history.

Founded in 1682, Norfolk grew up on the water, and its miles of lake, river and bay front are central to many of its neighborhoods. The city's popular logo -- an elegant young mermaid, which can be spotted in outdoor sites from Downtown to Ocean View -- symbolizes 300 years of maritime and naval heritage and its modern reputation as a city on the move.

Thanks for the memory and appreciation, London.

A birthday boy for the early morning here in Florida.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, I think of all the songs and poetry by Leonard, Passing Through is the most elegant. Thanks, Texas, and you hurry back.

Today is Frank Lloyd Wright's birthday, and it is indeed a pleasure to present a tribute to such a fantastic architect.

His home, yawl.

Now, the tribute from a famous couple.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks, edgar, for keeping us on the air. I did find the lyrics to that Phil Ochs song, but I will just show a few of them.

You laugh at the people who walk outside on the sidewalk
And you talk to yourself so much
when you see other people you can't talk
This time it's true
The charade is through
And you can't seem to run away from you
Away from you
And the haggard ex-lover of a long-time loser
Stands rejectedly by the door
Doesn't Lenny live here anymore?
Are you sure?

My word, I just remembered he did The Highwayman.

Saying goodnight with two songs.

First Phil's I'm Ain't Marching Any More.

Now, a surprise by Leonard Cohen.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks, edgar, for keeping us on the air. Still sweltering under the palms.

You sent me searching again.

Francis Edward Ifield (born 30 November 1937) is an early Australian-English easy listening and country music singer. He achieved considerable success in the early 1960s, especially in the UK Singles Chart, where he had four Number 1 hits between 1962 and 1963.

Just listened to him doing I Remember You. Thanks for the introduction.

Also enjoyed Freddy Fender's Secret Love. Didn't Doris Day do that one, too?

Three songs for the afternoon.

First, two birthday boys.

Johnny Depp.

Now, Michael Fox.

Hope Barry the Brit is all right.

A little info on Tender is the Night.

Tender Is the Night is a novel by American writer F. Scott Fitzgerald. It was his fourth and final completed novel, and was first published in Scribner's Magazine between January-April, 1934 in four issues. The title is taken from the poem "Ode to a Nightingale" by John Keats.

I liked Johnny Depp a lot when he was doing 21 Jump Street, but I watch him less and less these days.
Michael J Fox I liked in several projects.
Tender is the night is a good song.
Lots of my favorite songs were done by Tony Bennett. Here is one.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, I like The Good Life by Tony but I thought the man from the Philippines did a great cover job.

Thanks for your comments, Texas.

Today is Cole Porter's birthday, and I can't think of one song written by that man that I don't like.

Here is Natalie Cole doing my telling song.

Didn't know Mario sang Begin the Beguine, edgar. Great one.

Love My Reverie by Helen Forest. Debussy is another fine classical composer.

One more by Cole

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think that I shall do so with Les Paul since it is his birthday.

First, some info all the man.

Lester William Polsfuss (June 9, 1915 – August 12, 2009)]—known as Les Paul—was an American jazz and country guitarist, songwriter and inventor. He was a pioneer in the development of the solid-body electric guitar which made the sound of rock and roll possible. He is credited with many recording innovations. Although he was not the first to use the technique, his early experiments with overdubbing (also known as sound on sound) delay effects such as tape delay, phasing effects and multitrack recording were among the first to attract widespread attention.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7CNJ0txKXSo&feature=related

now, the lyrics.

Somewhere there's music
how faint the tune!
Somewhere there's heaven
how high the moon!

There is no moon above when love is far away
too

Till it comes true that you love me as I love you.

Somewhere there's music
it's where you are

Somewhere there's heaven
how near
how far!
The brightest night would shine if you would come to me soon

Until you will
how still my heart
How high the moon.

Goodnight, world

From Letty with love and hope
